"I suggest you get that under control," Ivan tells Vanessa while she's draped over the toilet, clutching it. "We're a couple. That's why you're living here. That's why you're working at the club. And that's why you get special treatment."
She's barely holding it together as it is before he says all that, but then his little lecture is punctuated by more vomiting. Luka is chuckling behind me, and it's all I can do to keep from cracking a smile.
A girl becoming physically sick at the mere thought of pretending to be with Ivan Volkov? Comedy gold. He's never living this down, and he knows it.
"I think you're making it worse, brother," Luka calls from the doorway.
Ivan rattles off a string of curses and walks past me. "Make sure she gets cleaned up."
"Me?"
I turn to see Luka hiking his eyebrows at me like he's won an unexpected prize. When they both walk out without another word, I'm the one cursing under my breath.
