Chapter 48: Not Going to Miss the Chance Again

They both went to have breakfast together. Julie and Mr. Henderson looked at each other as they saw the light aura around them.

'Maybe they had fixed their differences.' Julie thought.

She was pretty shocked when she saw the servants carrying Xavier's suitcases into his car.

She thought that Xavier would leave Zarah.

Julie was not dumb to not read Xavier's body language. She knew he had deep feelings for Zarah. It was more than the love between siblings.

Julie could tell that Zarah felt the same way but she was probably unaware of it. There were instances when she caught Zarah looking at Xavier from afar with dreamy eyes. Maybe she was in denial.

These two cared for each other like they were a married couple.

It would be such a shame if they'd waste their great chemistry over a misunderstanding.

Julie subconsciously smiled as she thought of these two being husband and wife and having kids together. This mansion would be lively as ever.

"So, what's your plan for today?" Xavier asked while eating his food.

"Not much. I just want to sleep. I think you should sleep, too. You look like a mess. Good thing you're handsome."

Was Zarah trying to flirt with Xavier? If yes, then Xavier was very happy.

"Really?"

Zarah saw the sparkle in his eyes and she could not believe how easy it was to make this man happy.

"Forget it. I just don't want you to get sick." Zarah said and Xavier smiled from ear to ear. Xavier looked like a happy kid who had just gotten his favorite toy.

Zarah resumed eating and Xavier did the same. But they would secretly steal glances and Julie inwardly giggled because of their cute interaction.

After breakfast, Zarah went to her room. However, she didn't expect Xavier would knock on her door.

As she opened it, she saw him dressed in his pajama and bringing two pillows with him.

"What are you doing here?" She asked in shock.

"You said that I should rest. And that's what I'm about to do." He innocently answered.

"Yes. However, you should do it in your room. Hurry and go back to your room." Zarah said while trying to push Xavier out.

"If I'll do it in my room, I might not be able to sleep." He reasoned and she stopped.

Xavier grabbed the opportunity and started putting the pillows on the couch.

He then laid down and crossed his arms over his chest with his eyes closed.

Zarah scoffed in disbelief. She went to her bed and turned her back away from him.

When Zarah was on the bed, Xavier opened his eyes. He waited for a couple of minutes to make sure that she was asleep before he got up from the couch and slowly walked to the bed.

He grabbed a stool and sat on it. He then crouched down and rested his head on the mattress.

Zarah who was only listening to what Xavier was doing opened her eyes and was surprised to see Xavier's position.

She gently tapped his shoulder and Xavier looked at her.

"What are you doing?"

"That couch is not warm enough," he explained.

"I told you to go back to your room. It's uncomfortable for someone like you to sleep on the couch." She explained.

"Go to sleep. I'll be fine like this," he said and urged Zarah to sleep.

"As you wish. But don't complain if your body would become stiff when you wake up."

"I'll be fine. As long as you're beside me." Xavier said and Zarah was speechless at how shameless Xavier could be.

Zarah yawned as she felt drowsy all of a sudden. Xavier did the same thing too.

They both closed their eyes and went to dreamland.

After an hour, Julie entered the room to inform Zarah that she had visitors but was speechless when she saw the two figures sleeping in that position.

She immediately closed the door before she disturbed them.

Julie went back to the living room to inform Olivia and Trixie that Zarah was resting inside her room.

Hope was with them, too.

The twins thought that it was a good idea to barge into her room to sleep together.

Since Zarah moved to the mansion, they didn't have sleepovers together.

"No!" Julie stopped them which made the twins suspicious.

"What's going on?" Olivia asked.

"Miss is not alone. Master is with her."

"What?!" Trixie exclaimed in shock.

The twins thought that Xavier was doing something to Zarah.

Olivia who was overprotective of Zarah became angry and wanted to go to Zarah's room.

Hope stepped in to stop the twins.

"Girls, stop! I can vouch for Xavier. He won't do anything that would harm Zarah." Hope said and Trixie became suspicious.

Of course, they heard that Xavier was a womanizer just like his cousin Dylan. They were lucky that they had never crossed paths.

"Why? Why are you so sure about that?"

Hope knew that it was not her place to reveal this. And so she said, "I'm sorry girls. I can not tell you anything. Why don't we ask Zarah later, instead? I'm sure it's better to hear the answers from her than from me, right?" Hope gulped down as she thought the twins were scary.

However deep down, she felt happy that they cared so much for Zarah.

Since they didn't have much to do, Julie offered to keep them company and tour them around the mansion to kill some time.

Of course, she didn't tell them where Zarah's room was as she feared they would barge in and disturb their sleep.

It was already lunch break and Mr. Henderson asked the ladies to stay. He was sure that Zarah and Xavier would also be coming down to have lunch.

Back in Zarah's room, Zarah woke up when she felt a heavy object placed on her side.

She slowly opened her eyes to check it.

But she was surprised to see that it was an arm.

She turned her body and was surprised to see Xavier sleeping beside her and they were spooning.

Zarah could feel her heart skip a beat and then become erratic to the point that her heartbeat became so loud in her ears.

She heard Xavier's groan and his warm breath against her nape sent chills down her spine.

Something was awakened inside of her and she became nervous because of this foreign feeling.

Zarah wanted to separate herself from him so she moved her body not knowing that the friction would trigger something in his body.

Zarah's eyes widened when she felt something poking behind her.

"Don't move." Xavier's raspy voice sounded behind her.

"What are you doing? Why are you in my bed?"

"Are you seriously asking me that question, now?" He replied.

"What do you mean? Xavier, I did allow you to court me but I think you're crossing the line here." Zarah said with a hint of anger.

What she hated the most was when someone took advantage of her.

Xavier let go of her and got up into a sitting position and he immediately grabbed the pillow to cover his lower area.

"I didn't cross the line. I was awakened by your whimpers and when I tried to console you, you grabbed and pulled me towards you."

"What are you talking about?" Zarah interrupted as she could not remember none of it.

"I thought you were messing with me. But you were dreaming about something and kept begging someone to not leave you. You hugged my neck like a koala. You only calmed down when I lay beside you." Xavier explained.

"Are you serious?"

"Do you think it's my imagination? My neck still hurts because of how tight your hug was earlier."

Xavier then showed his neck and she was surprised to see purple patches on them.

"Did I do that?"

"Who else would? It's just you and me in the room." Xavier said in a matter-of-fact tone.

"Well, I...I'm sorry." Zarah looked down in embarrassment.

"It's fine. My head and neck are still intact."

Thanks to what happened, he got the chance to hug her while sleeping.

He would do everything just to have this chance again.

Xavier then got up before Zarah would realize what he was hiding.

"Thanks for the nap. I think I should go. Go and freshen up. I'll ask Uncle Adam to prepare our lunch after an hour."

"Okay."

Xavier left and Zarah got up and made her bed and prepare her clothes before she jumped into the shower.

After an hour, they both walked out of their respective rooms freshly showered.

Xavier was wearing casual clothes since he had a clear schedule for the rest of the day.

Zarah chose her most comfortable clothes, a pair of sweatpants and an oversized shirt.

She tied her hair in a half ponytail and she started wearing all of her piercings again.

She removed some of them during the funeral. And also, since she would often accompany Xavier to attend meetings, she took the initiative to be presentable and look professional.

She didn't want to scare the clients after all.

She was aware that her image would reflect on the company and Xavier, too.

Julie saw that they were heading to the dining room to have their late lunch and so she grabbed the opportunity to tell Zarah that Olivia, Hope, and Trixie were waiting for her in the drawing room. They were playing with Xander.

"Okay. Tell them that I'll be there after I have lunch, okay?"

"Okay, Miss."

After taking lunch, Xavier excused himself and informed her that his cousins wanted to hang out together.

"Why don't you invite them in and let's have a barbecue feast for dinner?" She told him instead.

She told him this because the girls were around. And she wanted to know more about Xavier from other people's perspectives.

Xavier thought that it was a good idea.

He also wanted Dylan to know Zarah so all of his ill opinions about Zarah would completely vanish.

"Okay. I'll call them so they'd bring the meat for the barbecue tonight."

After Xavier left, Zarah went to the drawing room. As she opened the door, Xander immediately jumped into her arms.

"Baby! Did they bully you?" Zarah asked and Xander gave a pitiful meow in response.

However, Zarah was shocked to see both Olivia and Trixie with their arms crossed over their chest.

"Zarah Jansen, I think we need to talk," Olivia said.

Zarah subconsciously gulped after they heard how serious the twins were.

'Did I do something wrong?' She asked herself.

Zarah remained calm as she carried Xander and kissed the top of his head.

Zarah walked to the couch and then placed Xander on her lap.

The girls did the same and sat on the couch comfortably.

Julie also entered carrying a refill of their snacks.

"Okay? What is this all about?"

"What's going on between you and Xavier?" Trixie asked her.

"Why did you sleep with him in one room?" Olivia followed up and Julie almost dropped the tray.

She felt a little guilty because it came from her. She thought she was intruding on her Miss' privacy.

She hoped that Zarah would forgive her.

Zarah saw this reaction and she could tell that Julie felt guilty.

Zarah was not angry though.

Though it came all of a sudden, she had to tell the twins anyways.

"Xavier's pursuing me."

"What?!" They both exclaimed in unison.

"He confessed his feelings and asked to pursue me. And I said yes."

"Why?" Trixie asked in disbelief.

"Zarah, make sure that you're not doing this to get back on my brother." Zarah felt annoyed and could not believe that Olivia would tell her this.

"Of course, not!" Zarah sighed and tried to find the words to say so she would make sense.

"Josh has nothing to do with this. I made this decision for myself and not for anyone. And I hope you'll understand me, Liv. Trix."

"I'm sorry if I overreacted Zaza. It's just so sudden." Olivia tried to explain her part.

"I know, Liv. Trust me. I was confused at first, too. I kept avoiding this possibility but I think I liked him, too. And that's what I'm trying to verify so I agreed to this courtship."

"Are you serious? You've only met him like three weeks ago?"

"No, Liv. Xavier said that we've met during the summer four years ago. And he confessed he loved me since then. And he was trying to forget about what he felt but I guess it kept stronger, especially when he saw me again."

Then Zarah thought about something.

"Wait, did I mention him four years ago?"

Trixie and Olivia looked at each other guiltily.

"Liv? Trix?"

"You did mentions four years ago that you met a young man in a wheelchair. However, you didn't tell us much about him other than how handsome he was." Olivia confessed.

"What?!" Zarah exclaimed and Xander jolted in shock.

"Hear us out, please." Olivia pleaded.

"We thought he was someone random in your life as you stopped talking about him. And then we heard that you got into a car accident." Olivia continued.

"We did try to ask Mister Jansen about him, Arah but he said that the man had already left and might not come back," Trixie added.

"Then, are you trying to tell us that he's that man?" Olivia asked as she tried to put the puzzle pieces together.

Xavier suddenly walked in and answered her question.

"Yes. I am that man. I was in that accident, too. I was sent to a better hospital because my already useless legs became even worse after the accident."

Zarah was still shocked to hear this even though she already heard it once.

Xavier walked and stood behind Zarah as he bravely faced her two best friends' possible interrogation.

The doctors wanted to amputate his legs to prevent infection and possible death.

Good thing he was saved by someone at the last minute.

She not only saved his legs but also made him walk again.

"I understand your concerns. I would be the same if I was in your position." Xavier continued.

"I almost lost my chance to be with her because of that accident and her amnesia. Therefore, I will not miss this chance again."

The girls will support them. All they cared is Zarah's happiness.
