Opening Scene it's night in Hell's Kitchen New York the local basketball team recently won the big game and a party had to be thrown to celebrate. Inside the house, we see a girl with long blonde hair in a form-fitting blue dress dance in the crowd of people. As she was dancing she noticed a tall African-American boy approach her he looked to be about the same age as her with shoulder-length dreadlocks tied into a ponytail wearing a white and black basketball jersey and matching shorts.

"I don't know you do I?" The boy asked the girl still dancing but clearly paying attention to the tall boy.

"No, it's a party people tend to meet new people at parties," The girl responded sarcastically as she kept dancing.

"Yeah, but I know everyone else here except you, you go to a different school or something," The boy asked clearly interested in the dancing girl.

"I give you a 6," The girl responses as she finally stops dancing.

"What?" the boy responds clearly confused.

"Your pick up line 'Do I know you' it's kind of cliche 6 out of 10" The girl explains.

"What makes you think I'm hitting on you?" The boy asks.

"Well, a cute girl was minding her business dancing when a boy asked her name what would you call that," The girl responded steeping a little closer to the boy.

"Polite conversation," The boy responded with sass.

"That's hilarious" the girl responses with a light laugh. "Tell you what dance with me and you might get bumped up to an 8" As the girl says this she grabs the boys arm and they both start to glow for a split second where she was touching him a bright light with dark swirls inside formed and they both showed an opposite color aura. The girl quickly let go of the boy and checked to see if anyone saw it luckily thanks to the lights of the party no one was suspicious of the two. The boy just stared at his hands and the rest of his body before looking at the girl.

"Are you a mutant?" The boy asks in a hushed voice. The girls face turned to one of fear and desperation the boy went to touch her to calm her down but remembered what just happened and said "Follow me," He started walking and gave the girl the 'come here' motion as he walked upstairs and into an empty bedroom.

"What was that?" The boy asked as soon as he closed the door giving them some privacy.

"I don't know did you do something to me?" The girl says slightly afraid.

"No, did you do something to me?" The boy asks back.

"No, my powers don't work like that" The girl answers. "This is insane!" the girl says clearly frustrated.

"I know... maybe we just need to take a step back, I'm Tyrone, Tyrone Johnson," Tyrone says trying to calmly asses the situation.

"Tandy Bowen," Tandy says back still afraid.

"You are a mutant right?" Tyrone asks.

"Yeah no point denying it now," Tandy says admitting defeat.

"It's ok I'm a mutant too," Tyrone says releasing some tension.

"I've never met another mutant before what can you do?" Tandy asks steeping closer to Tyrone.

"I guess you call it teleporting I can appear places I've been before or can see" Tyrone explains.

"That's amazing can you like pop us both away from here?" Tandy asks slightly excited.

"It doesn't work that way I can only teleport myself I can't go with other people," Tyrone says."Anyway, what are your powers"

"Next to yours nothing I can sort of glow or emit light," Tandy says with a sigh "Hold on a sec," Tandy says as she opens her purse and pulls out what looks to be a wet wipe. She wipes the side of her right eye and reveals what looks to be a crescent-shaped mark on her face. "When I was 13 I got into an argument with my mom and I started to glow and this mark appeared on my face I've been hiding it ever since," Tandy says with a hint of sadness in her voice.

"So your mom knows your a mutant?" Tyrone asks.

"Yeah, unfortunately," Tandy says with the same tone as before.

"My mom is the only other person who knows I'm a mutant too," Tyrone says.

"Is she a huge bitch about it too?" Tandy asked with a sour look on her face.

"No my mom's cool with it though she wants me to keep it a secret being black in America is already hard enough," Tyrone says explaining his relationship with his mother.

"When my mom found out she just called me an embarrassment like I was a freak," Tandy says coldly. They both sit in silence for a moment before Tandy lets out a small laugh.

"What's funny?" Tyrone asks.

"It's weird I've known you for five minutes and I'm telling you things I've never told anyone else," Tandy says focusing on the weird blossoming relationship.

"Yeah one minute we're glowing at a party next were talking about our mom's," Tyrone added.

"Speaking of which can I see your hand?" Tandy asks. "I want to see if we glow every time we touch," Tyrone looked at his hands for a second before extending them for Tandy to grab onto. They both stared at each other with trepidation before finally touching and nothing happened.

"Ha, well we had all this build-up and nothing are we not doing it right," Tandy asks. She looks up and sees Tyrone staring at her with a lustful look in his eye.

"What are you thinking," Tandy says raising an eyebrow.

"Your mark it shines in the light it's beautiful," Tyrone says admiring the girl's face.

"That was definitely better than 'Do I know you'" Tandy says blushing and breaking eye contact.

"I try," Tyrone says with confidence. Tyrone starts to lean in to kiss Tandy but right before their lips touch Tandy's phone rings.

"Excuse me for a sec," Tandy says as she quickly pulls out her phone she audibly groans when shes sees it's her mother on the caller ID.

"What do you want," Tandy says clearly annoyed.

"Why do you want me there I don't even like them," Tandy says with the same tone of voice.

"Great for them I still don't like them," Tandy continues on her side of the conversation.

"No fine I'll be there," Tandy says as she hangs up the phone.

"Family trouble?" Tyrone asks with concern.

"Don't get me started, look I gotta go but before I do let me see your phone," Tandy snatches his phone out of his hand and puts her number in she even takes a quick selfie to add to her contact ID. "Make sure to call me," Tandy says before giving him a surprise kiss.

"Your a great kisser," Tandy says pleasantly surprised.

"You should see what else I can do," Tyrone says playfully.

*****Next Day

Tyrone is on his way home and thinking about Tandy how he finally met another mutant and how much he wanted to see her again. She had been on his mind all day. Tyrone has been in relationships before and had his fair share of female attention but none of them quite got in his head like Tandy. After a long debate about whether he should call her, he decided to send a text.

(A/N I will use [] to indicate text, () to indicate telepathic conversation, and <> to indicate another language is being spoken)

[Hey what are you doing?] Tyrone wrote after ten minutes of deleting and rewriting.

[Dying of boredom] Tandy responded minutes later.

[Want me to come over and relieve you] Tyrone texted back trying not to sound cheesy it didn't work.

[Your pickup lines are trash] Tandy wrote back as she laughed.

[Sorry I usually coast by on my amazing looks and body] Tyrone responded.

[You do have a nice body] Tandy replied thinking about his tall athletic frame.

[I knew you were checking me out] Tyrone replied as he smiled like a kid on Christmas.

[And the way you were looking at me was purely platonic I'm sure] Tandy replied with obvious sarcasm.

[What can I say my mom raised a gentleman] Tyrone texted.

[But seriously you free?] Tandy asks.

[Right now yeah] Tyrone replies instantly.

[Wanna swing by my mom's not home] Tandy asks.

******30 mins later

"Wow this your place?" Tyrone says with awe admiring the expensive-looking condo.

"Yep," Tandy says popping the p. "Want a drink?" Tandy asks pulling out a bottle of wine.

"Sure I could use a drink," Tyrone says. "Are we alone or are their maids and servants hiding somewhere,"

"No the maids only come on Tuesdays," Tandy says with snark as she pours two glasses of wine. "Seriously my mom is gone so were all alone,"

"What about you dad," Tyrone asks as he sips his glass of wine.

"Haven't seen him in years," Tandy says factually.

"Sorry I didn't know," Tyrone says apologetically.

"It's fine he and my mom split when I was young and he left for California and started a new family," Tandy says with the same cold tone from before.

"I never knew my dad he left my mom the moment he found out she was pregnant," Tyrone says looking straight into Tandy's eyes.

"So you're saying we both have daddy issues," Tandy says with a light smile.

"Pretty much," Tyrone says matching her smile.

"We gotta stop doing this," Tandy says finishing her glass of wine.

"Doing what!?" Tyrone asks slightly concerned.

"Telling each other all our deep-seeded issues first it was us being mutants, then our mom's, and now our dad's. No offense Tyrone I've know you for like a day and a half and you know more about me than anyone else I know," Tandy gives a long sigh as she says this.

"Alright how about a change in topic what type of music do you like?" Tyrone asks innocently.

"Beyonce! especially her Lemonade album," Tandy replies with excitement. Tyrone groans and replies "Oh, are you one of those,"

"One of what!?" Tandy's response was clearly angry with Tyrone's reaction to her favorite artist.

"It's just I don't see why everyone loves her like she's the second coming she's only ok," Tyrone says rolling his eyes.

"First off Beyonce is the first and only and second her music is everything and I will not tolerate any slander on her name in my house," Tandy says getting defensive. They argue playfully for the next hour about music and why Beyonce is a literal goddess Tandy's words they both go to Tandy's room and make out passionately the two didn't know it yet but they were quickly falling in love with each other.

*****One week later

"Suprise!" Tandy screams scaring Tyrone.

"Tandy what are you doing here," Tyrone asks clearly still defensive from Tandy sneaking up and him.

"I was at school and didn't feel like being there and decided to see what your school is like and make sure you're not cheating on me," Tandy says playfully.

"You think I'm stupid I keep all my side chicks in a different zip code," Tyrone responses hoping to get a rise out of her.

"Ha Ha Ha very funny Ty," Tandy says. "Wanna walk me to your house for some fun after school activities,"

"My mom's home right now, but if you promise to do that thing I like I'll sneak you in," Tyrone says getting close and holding Tandy in his arms. They both proceed to walk to Tyrone's house they chat along the way it's mostly Tandy complaining about how she and her mother don't get along. She even makes Tyrone promise that if she decides to runaway he would come with her. On the way to Tyrone's house, they notice what looks to be people marching down the street.

"What's with the march is their a protest or something going on?" Tandy asks curious.

"I don't think so," Tyrone says not remembering anything being told to him about one. As they get closer they see that all the men are holding Tikki torches and wearing black shirts with a giant white cross painted across the chest.

"What the fuck are these guys," Tyrone says to himself. As they get closer the hear them chanting something.

"THE MUTIES WILL NOT REPLACE US!"

"THE MUTIES WILL NOT REPLACE US!"

"THE MUTIES WILL NOT REPLACE US!" The protesters cheered over and over again as they walked down the street.

"Purifiers" Tandy whispered to herself as a look of horror crept on her face that Tyrone has never seen her make before.

"Tandy we need to go now!" Tyrone said not bothering to hide the fear in his voice, but as he went to turn he noticed Tandy wasn't moving and just started at the Purifiers with a look of fear and horror.

"Tandy!" Tyrone screamed as he went to grab her hand and they both glowed like they did when they first met but this time it was much brighter and more noticeable. This action seemed to shake Tandy out of whatever shock she was in but it also drew the attention of the Purifiers.

"THOSE TWO ARE MUTIES" One purifier shouted. "ABOMINATION" another shouted. "LET'S GET EM," A third said. Just then a large group of Purifiers started to run towards Tandy and Tyrone. Tandy and Tyrone ran away but the men were slowly gaining on them. Tyrone leads the two into an alleyway and they were blocked in with nowhere to go Tandy was clearly panicking and started to glow as a result.

"THEY'RE CORNED GET READY" The Purifier on front shouted. as they got closer Tyrone tried to defend them but quickly got hit and overwhelmed by the sheer number of men in front of him as they had Tyrone on the ground Tandy glowed brighter than she had ever glowed before and the crescent mark around her eye became visible through her makeup. She raised her hand and tried to get closer to defend Tyrone when Light shot out of her and stabbed the men in front of her.

"DAVE!" One of the purifiers screamed as he went to help his injured friend. Tyrone saw this opportunity to escape and grabbed Tandy's hand when they were both enveloped in shadow and disappeared from the alleyway.

"What! where are we!?" Tandy says still rattled from what happened earlier. Tyrone looked around still visibly hurt but calmed down when he saw he was home.

"My house I managed to teleport us here," Tyrone says as he gets close to Tandy to try and calm her down.

"I-I thought you couldn't take people with you when you teleported!" Tandy says with surprise.

"I couldn't till now!" Tyrone says. As he says this Tyrone's mother rushes in the room.

"Ty you're all over the news!" Ms. Johnson says

"The news why!" Tyrone says with shock

"The Purifier rally made local news bt someone recorded what happened to you and now the purifiers are going on a manhunt for you claiming you hurt one of theirs," Ms. Johnson explained

"I'm so sorry it's all my fault!" Tandy says as she starts to cry.

"No Tandy you didn't do this you were just trying to help," Tyrone says trying to comfort her.

"You two need to get out of town, for the time being, I packed you a bag it has all the essentials and some money," Ms. Johnson says with a hurry worried about her son's safety. As she says this Tandy's phone rings and she looks to see it's her mother calling.

"Mom I need help," Tandy answers her phone.

"What do you mean I didn't want this to happen," Tandy says clearly angry with her mother.

"I know it was on the news that why I need to help me and Tyrone were just hunted down by Purifiers" Tandy screams into her phone.

"What! No, mom, I'm sorry please don't," Tandy begs into her phone and she just sits their silently for a few seconds the phone call clearly ended.

"Tandy, what happened?" Tyrone says clearly concerned.

"My mom just disowned me she said I wasn't her daughter anymore," Tandy says still in shock.

"You two need to go now there is a church not far from here run by a priest called Father Delgado he takes care of mutants and provides them safe transport out of the city," Ms. Johnson says. Tyrone listens to his mother gets Tandy and gets ready to head out. Tyrone follows a lot of back streets and tries to stay out of the streetlights so no one recognizes them. Along the way, Tandy is basically a zombie barely moving or responding to Tyrone as they are just a block away from the church Tandy trips and fall but Tyrone manages to catch her in time.

"Tandy you ok," Tyrone asks as he cradles her in his arms. Tandy just cries in his chest. Tyrone sees a bus bench nearby and sits them both down for a quick rest.

"She abandoned me I know she never really liked but for her to just disown me like it was nothing," Tandy says as she starts to wipe away some of her tears. Tyrone didn't speak not because he didn't want to but because he had no idea what to say here was a girl he really liked going through something he couldn't even imagine going through with his mom all while they were running away from their home because they were different.

"It is a shame that humans can be so cruel," A distant voice said. Tyrone and Tandy looked around and didn't see anyone but then they looked up and saw a man flying wearing a purple cape and helmet.

"Hello young mutants my name is Eric Magnus and I have come to offer you a better life,"
