Chapter 18

This battle came suddenly and ended just as abruptly.

After the continuous sound of sirens echoed through the distant streets, Kingpin and his henchmen quickly made their escape.

The Spider-Men had no intention of stopping them.

They didn't want to deal with the police unless it was absolutely necessary.

- Most of the police had mixed feelings about the Spider-Men, and it was the same in most worlds.

The group regrouped at Aunt May's house once again, and then quickly departed.

Aunt May's house was the starting point of the battle, and even though this unexpected fight was brief, it still affected the entire street.

Therefore, Aunt May was considered a primary victim and witness, and she had to stay behind to answer questions from the police.

Though they felt guilty about it, in order to avoid encountering the police, Mark and the others had to leave behind their dilapidated homes and Aunt May and temporarily leave the area.

After much consideration, they decided to go to the abandoned warehouse they often used as a meeting place.

To remain inconspicuous, they went separately, one by one.

Mark put on his regular clothes over his Spider-Man suit and blended into the crowd.

Soon, everyone gathered again at the abandoned warehouse.

However, in addition to the few Spider-Men, there was someone else.

Prowler.

Upon seeing Prowler appear, Gwen and the others instinctively assumed fighting stances.

They thought Kingpin was still relentless and prepared to continue the fight with them.

Miles quickly jumped out. He had come with his uncle and had a long conversation with Prowler on the way here.

The most crucial thing was that Prowler had been convinced by Mark and had made the decision to change his ways.

"Hey, everyone, listen to me! This is my uncle, and he's no longer working for Kingpin!"

"Everyone, stay calm." Mark, who arrived a bit later, stepped forward and tried to stop the confrontation.

He walked between the two groups and said, "Miles' uncle has decided to abandon his dark past and help us fight against Kingpin. So, I don't think we need to view him as an enemy anymore."

"Wow, how did you manage that?" Pot-bellied Peter exclaimed in surprise. On his way here, he had been thinking about how to resolve the issues between Miles and his uncle, but it seemed that Mark had quietly resolved it.

Moreover, based on his observations, Prowler had exceptional combat skills.

This action not only weakened the enemy's lineup but also strengthened their own power.

...

Naturally, Mark didn't tell them that he had made a calculated guess based on the characteristics of Prowler from other worlds. He simply reiterated what he had said to Aaron Davis.

When the Spider-Men heard that Aaron had chosen to stand with them to protect his family, they all breathed a sigh of relief.

If it had been for any other reason, they might have been skeptical.

But when it comes to family, the level of trust is much higher. (Note: Insert Dom Toretto)

As long as a person hasn't completely lost their humanity, they won't turn a blind eye to the safety of their family.

There's a saying that goes: Family is a vulnerability, but also one's strongest armor.

They didn't believe that a villain could suddenly change their ways, but they could believe that someone would go against the whole world to protect their family.

Prowler, who had gained the initial trust of the group, lived up to their expectations. He shared all the relevant information he knew about Kingpin, the particle collider, and the base where the collider was located.

As for Kingpin himself, not much needed to be said.

Prowler's knowledge about Kingpin wasn't significantly different from what Mark knew.

In fact, Prowler knew even less than Peter.

Since Prowler was strictly a henchman and didn't have access to the inner workings of Kingpin's underground organization, his understanding of Kingpin mainly came from their day-to-day activities.

And Kingpin was a very cunning and cautious person. Unless necessary, he wouldn't go around the world boasting about his power.

Despite his large build and exceptional combat skills, he was actually an intelligent individual.

As for the collider...

Constructing such a massive machine would require a substantial amount of money and the mobilization of many resources. It would also be time-consuming and costly.

Luckily, during the urban planning of Brooklyn in its early years, there were several abandoned subway tracks and a subway station underground due to a rerouting of the subway.

Kingpin took advantage of his influence to take control of these areas and established the collider beneath Brooklyn.

The accelerator part of the particle collider relies on several completely abandoned subway tunnels as the containment space.

The main body of the collider, including the collision site of the particles, is placed together with the cooling device in the abandoned subway station.

At this point, Prowler spoke up and Miles mentioned that he had mistakenly entered that place before and witnessed the intense battle between Spider-Man and Green Goblin, as well as Spider-Man's death.

Prowler remained silent in response.

Strictly speaking, he also had a share of the blame for Spider-Man's death.

"Wait, the Green Goblin? Are you talking about Norman Osborn?" Middle-aged Peter asked.

Prowler nodded, "Yes, it's him."

"Norman is working for Kingpin too?" Middle-aged Peter was puzzled.

After thinking for a moment, Prowler said, "They should have a cooperative relationship. As far as I know, Oscorp has also been involved in Kingpin's particle collider."

"Now the problem is, if the Green Goblin gets involved as well, the enemy's power will increase significantly," Middle-aged Peter said with a headache.

This was not good news.

"I think I need to leave for a while," Prowler said after sharing the information.

Noir spoke cautiously, "No offense, but I'm curious about what you're planning to do?"

Prowler looked at him calmly, his eyes steady without a trace of deception, "Kingpin must already know that I've betrayed him. I need to find my brother and ensure his safety."

Upon hearing this, Miles immediately jumped up, "Uncle Aaron, take me with you! I want to save my dad too!"

Prowler looked at him and gently patted his head, "No, Miles, it'll be safer for you to stay here."

"But..." Miles was unwilling. How could he just sit here knowing that someone like Kingpin might harm his parents?

"Miles, listen to me!" Prowler's tone became stern.

Then, looking into Miles' eyes, his heart softened involuntarily, "Listen, Miles, your father is a police officer. Although Kingpin has great influence, he wouldn't dare to attack the police easily. So they might not be in immediate danger. I'm just going to confirm the situation."

Mark stepped forward, looking at the uncle and nephew, and said, "Maybe it's not necessary to do it this way."

"What do you mean?" Prowler asked.
