(PS2: This book is also titled: What if the Spider Man Gained the Web of Destiny?)

"Among the three Spider-Men, he is the most unbearable!"

"Such a waste!"

"He hasn't made any progress at all!"

"Other Spider-Men solve problems, but he only creates problems!"

"..."

A series of complex rebukes echoed in Peter Parker's mind, causing him to open his eyes with a troubled feeling.

He didn't understand what was happening to him.

Ever since a spider web suddenly appeared in his mind a few days ago, these voices would occasionally appear in his ears.

"Spider-Man? Are they talking about me?" Peter held his head and walked into the bathroom. After splashing water on his face to refresh himself, he stared at his reflection in the mirror and said aloud.

About a month ago, he and his classmates went on an extracurricular science exploration activity, where he was accidentally bitten by a spider.

That night, he developed a high fever.

When he woke up the next day, he found that his body had become different from ordinary people.

Subsequently, he spent a week trying to understand what had happened to him: he had been bitten by a spider and had somehow gained spider-like abilities.

But he didn't know what to do with these new powers.

Perhaps he could become a world-saving superhero like Iron Man and Captain America shown on TV?

Peter had seen videos of the Sokovia incident, which happened around the time he was bitten by the spider.

At that time, the Hulk and a giant Iron Man were fighting, and they even witnessed the live broadcast!

Because of this, many of his classmates believed the Hulk should have been killed.

However, the Hulk did disappear later, and it's unknown whether he was taken away by Iron Man or secretly imprisoned.

Initially, Peter worried that he might end up in the same situation as the Hulk. However, his admiration for the Avengers and desire to become a hero motivated him to use these powers.

So, he found the costume he had used in the school drama club, added some high-polymer fiber materials, and made his own superhero suit!

—Just like Iron Man's iron armor, the Hulk's shorts, and Captain America's star-spangled suit.

Peter believed this suit was his own symbol!

Next, following the strange synthetic formulas that appeared in his mind, he secretly used the school's materials during lab classes to create extremely tough artificial spider silk and web-shooters.

In this way, he became a friendly neighborhood figure. Due to his costume and web-shooting abilities, some people started calling him Spider-Man, Spider-Boy, Spider-Hero, and so on.

Although the reactions were mixed, with many thinking he was meddling, he enjoyed it.

But something changed a few days ago.

After that strange spider web appeared in his mind, strange voices also started appearing.

Although he couldn't see who was speaking, Peter had a peculiar feeling that those voices were indeed talking about him!

"But why are they talking about me?"

"Other Spider-Men? Are there really others in the same situation as me?"

Peter wiped the water from his face and lay back down on the bed.

He had to force himself to sleep because it was already 3 AM, and he had something very important tomorrow!

Tony Stark, the famous Iron Man, had sent a letter saying he would visit Peter tomorrow!

"Why would Mr. Stark want to see me? Could he have discovered my true identity and want to invite me to join the Avengers?" Peter thought expectantly as he slowly closed his eyes.

As he closed his eyes, the giant spider web from his mind involuntarily appeared before him again.

Only this time, the spider web looked different from before!

At one of the intersections among the many silk threads, a strange bright spot had appeared!

"What is this?" Peter wondered as he focused his consciousness on that bright spot.

In the next moment...

"Ah!" He felt as if his consciousness was being pulled out of his body and then suddenly absorbed into that bright spot!

"Where am I?" Peter came to his senses and found that he was no longer in his bed at home but had arrived in a secluded small room.

In front of him was a small table made of boxes, with several photographs and a pile of files on top.

"Ah!" Peter exclaimed.

In his mind, a nerve was violently trembling. Upon closer inspection, he could see a glowing nerve thread slowly extending towards the glowing spot on the massive web in his brain.

When the thread and the bright spot connected, countless fragments of memories flooded into his mind!

It was now 1933, and New York was suffering through the painful Great Depression period.

For angering the wrong person, his Uncle Ben Parker had been tortured and killed by Norman Osborn, New York's biggest extortionist known as the "Green Goblin."

At the same time, the Green Goblin had extended his dark and evil hand towards Aunt May and Peter, trying to put them to death.

Fortunately, they were saved by Ben Urich, a photographer for the Daily Bugle. Peter's character also gained Urich's appreciation, and he became Urich's assistant.

Not long ago, during an operation to covertly photograph the Green Goblin's dealings with the mob, Peter was accidentally bitten by a spider that crawled out of a cursed spider sculpture involved in their transaction. In a vision, he met the Spider God Anansi and gained mysterious and powerful new abilities, becoming Spider-Man!

But because of this, he discovered more things hidden in the darkness.

For example, the respected Urich had actually been blackmailing the Green Goblin's gang, acting as a cover for their operations in exchange for hush money from Osborn!

Not long ago, Urich told Peter that he was going to expose all the evidence he had secretly collected about the Green Goblin!

Peter didn't know why Urich had suddenly decided to do this, perhaps his conscience had awakened?

However, that night, he was shot and killed in his home by J. Jonah Jameson, the person Urich had contacted to expose the evidence!

Fortunately, Felicia Hardy took the evidence Urich had hidden during the chaos and gave it to Peter.

From Felicia, Peter learned some of the truth.

Urich and Felicia both knew he was Spider-Man, and Urich had decided to expose the Green Goblin and bring him to justice because of this.

But Felicia told him not to trust Jonah!

Peter found it hard to believe. He still remembered what Jonah had said when Urich first brought him to the Daily Bugle:

"Out there, there are a million painfully sad stories, Parker. But for this miserable age, none of them is particularly special until...we make them special!"

"I can give them facts and data, Ben's photos can make them truly understand!"

"I'll tell our readers how they should feel about the terrible situation this city is in!"

"This dark age needs someone to stand up and shed light on the darkness within the darkness! Your Uncle Ben and Aunt May were those people, and I, J. Jonah Jameson, am one of those people too!"

Could a person capable of saying such things really not be trusted?

Had this era become so dark?
