Memories

It was rough, my parents were dead and it really hit me. I didn't get out of my room for days, the only time I got out was when the funeral has taken place.

It was a really sad day, it was raining, like the sky was crying, and I just stood there, watched as I said my last goodbyes to my parents.

After a few days, I got better, it was still hard but for my aunt and uncle, I have to be strong. This event...I never want it to happen again, not if I can help it. And for that, I need to prepare. I got out of my room and went downstairs.

"Good morning Aunt May, Uncle Ben." I greeted. They were sitting quietly in the dining room. Aunt May cooking breakfast while Uncle Ben reading News Papers.

"Good morning sweety. Are you okay?" Asked me, Aunt May with a gentle voice. I could see that she was worried but also relieved that I got out of my room.

"I'm...better Aunt May, but it will pass so don't worry," I said and smiled lightly.

Seeing me Uncle Ben put his News Papers down and said "Peter, you need to be strong, we love you and we will always be here for you if you ever need us. I understand that you are hurting and trust me we are too but we have each other for support and we will get through this together." He knew what I was going through and tried to help me, and he did. I have them and we will get through this together.

After we had breakfast we were watching TV until I said something which took them by surprise.

"Hey, Uncle Ben, Aunt May, how about we go later to my house? Maybe we left some stuff before we came here, we were in a hurry."

After a few moments "Okay Peter, after we have lunch we will go and take the stuff you left behind." Said Uncle Ben.

After lunch we went to my old house. It was nothing big, it seems that my parents didn't want anything fancy or extravagant, just a two storey house that has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, a dining room and a living room and on the side of the house a small garage in which my parents would park their car.

The house was white decorated with some dark brown wood, it gave a homey feeling, at least to me, well it is my home, so...

Anyway, I'm getting off point, we parked our car in the driveway and got out.

Aunt May put her hand on my shoulder and I looked up to her, she was giving me a light, gentle smile that seemed to be saying "I'm here for you." I just smiled back and nodded.

Uncle Ben took out the house keys and unlocked the door. And when I went inside I was struck with the feelings of happiness but also sadness, I felt complicated the moment I entered.

I couldn't decide if I should smile at the happy memories or cry that I will never be able to remember them with my parents.

I entered the hall and remembered how I ran from my mother when I learned how to walk as she was chasing me playing chase. Well she didn't run, she walked, but I ran. I giggled when I saw her behind me with her hand like a claw, she was laughing with me and when she would catch me she would start tickling me. I smiled at the happy memory.

Uncle Ben and Aunt May let me have some time for myself and they just stood in the hallway giving me space.

Next, I entered the living room, where I walked my first steps. I still remember the scene where my mom and dad were fighting to decide who will get a first steps hug from me and my dad's face when I went to my mom.

I then went to the kitchen, where we used to have lunch and dinner together. Sometimes dad wouldn't be home but my mom and I had fun, she would feed me while making funny faces and the acts with the spoon so I would eat my food, I would eat it anyway but I loved seeing her like that.

Next, I went upstairs to the room of my parents, where I would sleep if I was sick, my mom insisted that I sleep with them because she was worried for me.

And lastly, I went to my room, where I would sleep every night. Where mom and dad would tuck me in the bed while telling me stories so that I would go to sleep. Even though I was mature for a child my age, as I was sixteen mentally and acting like a kid was hard, my mom would still insist that she should read me bedtime stories. As she said, it was a precious time for a parent and child to bond. As if I wasn't bonded to them enough.

I looked around and saw my bed, next to the bed was a little nightstand. I got closer, on the nightstand a picture of mom, dad, and me. That picture was taken when I was three years old. On the picture, mom and dad were sitting on a grass field with me in the middle of them. Seeing this, seeing the happy smiles we wore that day, I couldn't take it anymore. I burst out crying.

Then I felt two warm pairs of hands hugging me, it was Aunt May and Uncle Ben. They were telling me that it was going to be okay while I cried.

"Are you okay Peter?" Asked Aunt May.

I just nodded and sniffed, she hugged me some more.

I got the rest of my stuff from my house and some things like pictures and other sentimental items.

'I will never lose anyone again, I will make sure of it' I thought, never even thinking about the possibility that I will meet my parents in the future.

But what I didn't know was that while I was going through the stuff I was going to take back, a piece of a black meteorite we found when I was two in our backyard after it fell there dissolved and turned into some kind of black liquid with shades of red moved from the little glass box it was kept in underneath my clothes.
