The Laser

The glowing, dark purple lines on the boy's body grew hotter and hotter until it felt like the room was boiling.

The father could only watch in awe as something amazing was happening to his son.

"Look at my boy shining so brightly."

The boys' hands shook as the lines spread onto the revolver, creating a spiral all across it.

"

The father watched smoke float from his son's body.

The smell of meat quickly permeated the room.

The boy tensed as his hands gripped the gun; he could feel the muscles, skin, and bones as they burned.

It was all horrifying.

Everything happened so quickly to his body that he could feel something stretching across his skin.

He had been tired and sickly for years, but when he felt the lines crawling across his body, all the tiredness and hunger vanished completely; it was as if the last few years of his life had never happened at all.

He was filled with energy—so much energy that he had no idea what to do with it. The feeling, the warmth, the energy, the trembling, the pain

These feelings momentarily paralyzed him, but it didn't take long for him to concentrate once again.

"He's what I'm here for," the boy momentarily shook as he focused in on his father.

The father had not moved an inch since the boy was stunned.

"It's my chance."

The lines on the gun and the boy's body pulsed.

The boy no longer felt fear towards his father and pulled the trigger.

A dark purple light lit up the room.

The revolver flew back towards the boy.

And a giant beam the size of a manhole cover blocked all sight of the man he called father.

The giant laser beam flew through the air, partially colliding with the trapped couch. The beam crossed over the couch unceasingly.

What was left of the couch was scorched; the leather was burned black; and orange molten springs leaked all over the remnants.

The carpet lit up as the laser beam flew by.

While the laser beam was flying towards Father

Behind it, the gun flew back out of the boys' hands.

The revolver twirled in the air.
