Chapter Twelve

Peggy and Alex laid together on the bed when his pager starts to go off but they didn't notice as they shifted closer together

Peggy opens her eyes finally and glances down to see Alex's pager going off, moving to shake him he groans pulling her closer. "I'm tired!"

"Alex, your pager!" The man shoots up grabbing it to check the message.

Jumping off the bed he fixes his pants, "I gotta go!" He runs out of the room tripping slightly making her laugh as he rushes to the ER.

"Idiot"✗✗✗

Peggy stood back and watched Lexie pack random stuff into a bag for her apartment laughing, "Come on it can't be that bad."

"It's disgusting! We have no idea what colour the walls are because of all of the grease and dirt on them! Plus there are bugs everywhere!" Lexie groans explaining to her how bad the apartment is making her grimace.

The girl leans up to put a couple of containers in her bag when George storms into the room angry. "I hate this contest!"

Lexie ignores him, "There's a lot of stuff in here. There's a lot of stuff."

George continues grumbling as he grabs the supplies he needs, "Stupid, stupid contest- stupid, and irresponsible. I want to play."

Peggy laughs as she watches the two interact, "There's good stuff, free stuff."

Izzie then enters the room, "I need a butterfly needle, a vacutainer, and, uh, maybe an L. P. Kit. I'm 26 points behind, so I need it fast."

The Gallagher woman looks at her in interest as she hands her one of the objects that were near her, "Why? What do you have? It must be good for 26 points."

The blonde smiles at her, "Uh, sprained ankle."

Peggy and George share a look as he chuckles, "You get 26 points for a sprained ankle?

"Last time Callie treated what we thought was a sprained ankle, it turned out the patient was malnourished, had a perforated ulcer and died on the table." She tells them in excitement.

George looks at Peggy annoyed as he answers her sarcastically, "That's the best-case scenario."

The blonde shakes her head, "Well, not the death part, George. The medical mystery part. It's 80 points for solving a medical mystery. It's the holy grail of the competition."

He nods, "Oh, yeah. Sometimes an ankle's just an ankle, though."

She moves closer to her boyfriend In determination, "Syncope, a very strange rash, pale, insidious onset in a guy who travels a lot. This is NOT just an ankle. Lexie then walks over handing her the rest of the supplies, "Oh, thanks."

Lexie then reaches down to pick up a cloth from the shelf, "Oh, I could do a lot with these."

The man looks at it grossed out, "That's an underpad. Underpads soak up urine."

The girl stops him, "Or ... it could be a placemat. He walks out of the room annoyed as she reaches over and grabs a urine bowl, "OH! Fruit bowl."

"Ew! Lexie that's disgusting!" Peggy tells her grossed out.

She looks at her shocked, "What! It hasn't been used yet!" Peggy shakes her head walking out of the room, "If you saw the apartment you would be way less grossed out!"✗✗✗

Peggy stood at the nurse's station charting when Lexie walks up to her, hearing voices they glance up to see Nurse Rose laughing with Derek. The woman begins walking towards them holding a vase of flowers smiling wide, she leans towards them, "Have you seen him?"

They nod at her, "We have."

The nurse turns to stare after him in awe, "Have you seen his eyes?"

Lexie nods, "uh... Yeah."

Rose begins to laugh and stutter, " I'm trying to play it cool. I am playing it so, so cool. I love him!" She then yells making the two interns staring at her wide-eyed, "Oh, my god. I ... don't know you. I ... didn't say that." She then runs off making Lexie and Peggy look at the flowers on the desk. The Gallagher woman reaches over and picks them up before the two turns to flee the scene.

The two share a sneaky smile before they run into Meredith, "What's with the flowers?"

Lexie raises an eyebrow, "Uh, are you asking as a resident or a sister?"

Meredith smiles hesitantly, "Sister."

"I'm stealing stuff," Lexie inform her sister while Peggy laughs.

Smiling at the resident, Peggy shakes the flowers, "In your honour, I am stealing Rose's flowers."

The resident nods, "Okay."

Lexie looks at her sister in concern, "Are ... you okay?"

She then walks away from the two, "Resident again now. Stop stealing crap from the hospital."

At the end of her shift, Peggy walked down the hallway when Alex grabs her arm and pulls her out of the building. She laughs at his eagerness, "I'm guessing the contest is over?"

"Yep! Now me and you are going to take a long shower!" He tells her as he opens her car door.

She laughs tossing him the keys, "At least now we can have sex in an actual bed."

He nods pulling out of the parking lot, "And I can finally change my clothes."
