Moniqua's Envelope

It was the first day of a new month and the entire Del Montague family were getting ready to go to church. It was time to pray to Goddess Kartara. Time to cleanse one's soul by asking the almighty for forgiveness and guidance.

Bonnie and Dixie weren't planning on praying for forgiveness. All they needed now was more guidance. They would sit through the service and then immediately take action.

The sword, the infinity symbol and the hidden archives located under the church.

After spending hours in the library yesterday, they had headed back to the Emerald Room and spotted an envelope under the second shelf of Moniqua's bookshelf. There had been a tiny crack in the shelf that allowed for the envelope to be held in place.

Mystified by the secrecy, Bonnie and Dixie concluded that it must be important. They opened it to find that it consisted of detailed drawings of the central church. Blueprints, almost.

A thorough examination revealed that hidden behind a particular bookshelf was a door which led to an underground archive consisting of only the goddess knows what!

But the fact that it had to be kept hidden meant there was important information down there that the Pope would not want released out into the public. It was a far more perfect place to do some snooping. The information there had to more sensitive, maybe even criminal.

The ladies were excited, but at the same time confused. Why did Duchess Moniqua possess detailed blue prints of the central church? It was obviously sensitive information; hence, the reason why she hid it.

Was this why she would not even allow maids near to dust her bookshelf? What was she planning on doing with it? Had she been worried about being discovered with it? How did she even acquire it?

Glancing at the portrait of the late Duchess, the sisters got the sense that there was more to Moniqua than meets the eye. She wasn't simply a mother, wife and Duchess. She possessed a highly inquiring mind and may have been trying to investigate the holy church.

Had it been curiosity that killed the cat?

They didn't want to think of such a terrible thing happening, but what exactly was the accident? The book did not mention it in detail, only said that Felicia was blamed for it.

The incident took place at the palace, not the central church. But was there a connection? Had there been someone sent from the church to target Duchess Moniqua during her and her daughter's visit?

After all, the palace was massive. Even with guards, someone could have slipped past inspection. But if it was someone from the holy church, they could have simply entered as a priest under normal reasons.

Pretended to deliver a message to the royal family, only to slither around and go after the Duchess?

Had Moniqua been killed in order to be silenced? Had the moronic Duke even truly investigated her death?

They would have to solve this mystery as soon as possible. Time was not on the side of good people fighting demons.
