The start of everything (3) - Mitzuki's POV

Bai Lang's thoughts were spot on. Mitzuki was indeed in hostile territory when Paradise started. Mitzuki's task was to assassinate a human trafficker. The reason why the government had chosen for assassination was because the trafficker was very dangerous. Another group of well-trained soldiers had tried to apprehend this certain trafficker called Ari before. Which had resulted in huge losses, both civilian and military.

Ari had made an escape route as soon as he build his base. Ari knew what he was doing was illegal and it was only a matter of time before the law came knocking on his door. The escape route Ari build had bombs strategically placed along his escape route. However, Ari had also placed bombs in populated civilian areas. This way the civilian casualties would divert the attention of the military and give Ari a bigger chance at escaping. When Ari saw that the military was coming to arrest him, he made use of this route. Ari detonated several bombs in civilian areas. While running along his escape route he also used bombs to detonate the route he just used. This way the road was unable to be used by the military who were going after him.

Ari also found it a bonus point that blowing up his escape route would result in injuries or fatalities to the armed forces following him. Ari was however a very cruel master. Just blowing up bombs in civilian areas as distraction wasn't enough for him. Ari planned it in a way that a first set of bombs would explode resulting in mass casualties. If you think that would be the worst of it however you would be wrong. Ari had installed a second set of bombs which ran on a timer. These bombs would go of 25 mins after the first set of bombs exploded. The goal of these bombs was to injure any rescue workers EMS, military or fire department which would come to help at the scene of this mass casualty.

The first escape from Ari resulted in 250 death and 620 wounded. The death toll of the army and rescue workers was big during this arrest. An 80 people died instantly or from their wounds.

That is the reason that when the military finally found Ari again a year later it was decided to give a red order. Which meant that Ari should be shot on sight. This was to prevent that another escape ploy would be staged resulting in death and wounding of countless people.

Mitzuki and the soldiers who were with him were fully debriefed about how dangerous Ari was. So even though they were in hostile territory when they heard the voice in the sky they decided to finish their mission first. Everyone in the compound they were approaching was distracted and they would make great use of that distraction. Mitzuki thought to himself, no matter what this change is it won't be good if Ari would be one of the people who got his bonus points of this god. Especially since this god seems to like chaos. Mitzuki gave a signal to his team that they should take action as fast as possible. The sniper got into place and Mitzuki threw out smoke grenades and grenades. The sound from the grenades pulled the people in the compound back from their distraction. However, it was too late. Ari had been killed by the sniper with a bullet in his head.

Mitzuki's commander Alexis gave the command to regroup and retreat. Alexis might have been a girly name. However, Alexis was all man. Alexis had a caramel honey skin color like he was kissed by the sun gods. Alexis had long blonde hair and bright blue eyes. He was also taller than Mitzuki. Alexis wasn't overly muscular which resulted in the fact that he was often underestimated. The soldiers who trained with Alexis however quickly learned not to mess with Alexis. Alexis was a martial arts expert and anyone who messed with him he would invite in the ring and then put on their ass. Alexis therefore had strong command and the entire team respected him very much. Mitzuki respected Alexis a lot. Alexis had saved him before and Mitzuki decided then and there that where Alexis's lead, he would follow.

When they were retreating, they felt like they were dunk into cold water. This feeling went through them like a buzz and passed quickly. The first thing the soldiers did when they came back to themselves after this feeling was a check. This check was used to verify if all people were still fine. During this check the soldiers kept alert and surveilling the area around them.

While the check was going on Mitzuki was surveilling the surroundings. His thoughts however were elsewhere. He thought to himself: "now that I finally mustered up the courage to speak to Bai Lang of course the end of the world will happen". I always thought that facing the end of the world would be easier then to confront Bai Lang with my feelings for him. What I didn't mean however is that I wished for the end of the world!!

Most of all Mitzuki was worried about the safety of Bai Lang. He knew that Bai Lang was often underestimated and that although he was often called "nerd" in a derogatory manner that didn't mean that Bai Lang couldn't handle himself. Bai Lang might not have joined the military, but he had a military upbringing. Which meant that he was trained in self-defense and the use of arms.

Therefore, Mitzuki's only hope was that Bai Lang would be in a safe place when Paradise began, because as long as Bai Lang was in a safe space when Paradise began. If Bai Lang was in a safe space when Paradise began Mitzuki had confidence in the fact that Bai Lang would be fine.

Mitzuki comforted himself with the fact that now that the Apocalypse happened at the very least Bai Lang won't be getting married. Which showed that Mitzuki definitely had his priority's straight. Mitzuki also considered that since the end of the world happened his feelings might not scare Bai Lang, since "hey, the end of the world is here nothing could be worse right".

When thinking this the face of Bai Lang flashed through his mind. He swore he could see Bai Lang send up a quick prayer for his safe return. When Mitzuki heard Bai Lang say: "please be sure, to return to me safely" in a solemn whisper Mitzuki saw hope. He hoped that what he imagined was real and that Bai Lang would wait for his safe return. Mitzuki for one would do everything in his power to return to Bai Lang's side.

Until then Mitzuki had to find out what paradise was and how to survive, because this was the only way he could return where he belonged. Which was at Bai Lang' side. When the commander Alexis gave the command to continue on route he snapped out of his thoughts and followed his commander. Even though it seems like the thoughts Mitzuki had taken up a lot of his time the contrary was the case. Mitzuki had always been aware and vigilant of his surroundings even though thinking of the love of his life. That was how soldiers were trained after all.
