Chapter 1. beginnings:

Dave Charlstone was shocked. He really didn't expect this to happen. A giant laid before him. An injured beast as Large as a mountain laid before his eyes. Its triangular green eyes were glistening as they stared at him. Only a few hours ago he was a humble farmer living a normal life in the kingdom of Massadra. He was taking care of his farm when he spotted a fox escaping the chicken coop. The fox carried one of his chickens in its mouth. He quickly sprang into action and started chasing the fox. He did not know that this simple action would go on to save his life. Just as he got into the woods and caught the fox he heard a loud rumble.

A dragon. A massive dragon. A massive fiery dragon swooped down and breathed out its fire onto the poor village. Under the clear blue sky this massive crimson red dragon with two stripes of bright yellow scales on each side of its body swooped down and eliminated the entire village. Dave was shocked beyond belief but that wasn't the end. As the dragon continued flying it swooped back up high into the clouds continuing on its original path. Just as it was starting to leave something black shot out of the only cloud in this blue sky. It was massive far larger than the large mound Dave was standing on in the forest.

This black tentacle shot out like a harpoon and surrounded the dragon's waist. This long and thin (relatively) tentacle started to squeeze the dragon with immense force. Slowly out of the clouds a massive being emerged. It was even larger than the dragon. The dragon didn't just float there like a fool though as it shot its fire right at the emerging giant. Its main segment of its body was larger than the dragon by a third and it also had another 17 long slim tentacles reaching over 4 times the length of the main body in length. It looked like an octopus or maybe a Squid. Dave never saw such a being in his entire life. The Giant and Dragon fought in the sky while Dave down on the earth was so shocked his brain didn't even comprehended all that happened. The Giant Black Squid got scotched all over. The dragon didn't get off much better either. The dragon got harpooned, constricted, and rammed by the octopus. The dragon occasionally used its magic to launch surprise attacks on the octopus as it did the same. Steam fire and water could be seen flying everywhere on the battlefield.

Eventually the dragon got cooked up by the Squid's steam based attacks. However it seems this Giant squid had overestimated itself as it was far too injured to enjoy the rewards of successfully hunting its prey. The Squids crashed onto the charred remains of the village. Ash and dust could be seen flying everywhere. Dave was still stuck on his spot on the mound in the forest. The fox has escaped from his grasp during the clash of the giant beasts. After the peace finally arrived Dave fell on the ground. He seemed as if he was nearly lifeless. Deep inside that's also how he felt. His life has been ruined by the now deceased dragon. Its corpse was already between the tentacles of the squid. It was already dead, Dave had nothing to take his rage out on. His entire village died just like that. In a blink of an eye everyone he knew had died. His neighbors, his friends, his family, his crush, even his rivals. They're all dead. He was earlier too shocked to understand this completely but now... Now he was alone. He was all alone out in the middle of nowhere. He had only a few coins on him, a small bag and some basic farming tools. FARMING TOOLS! It would anyway take him over a day to reach the next town. Even if the dragon was dead why not cut it up even more. Dave was heart broken his heart was in pain and his brain was raging in anger.

He approached the village. He went right up to the entangled head of the dragon.

He took out his knife. He lifted his hand. Finally he jabbed it into the dragon's eye. Sadly it bounced off as if it was nothing. The eye was unscratched while the knife flew out of his hand. Dave could not react in time and he didn't hold the knife well due to his clouded thoughts therefore leading to his knife flying. However before he could turn around to pick it up he was terrified. The harpoon-like tentacle stuck right into the back of the dragon's throat suddenly shook. Even if the shake was minor it caused the entire ground to quake. Without a second thought Dave ran back into the woods. While his soul was in pain he resolved himself to live. As if he were to die even the memories of the villagers would now disappear without a trace just like the village itself. Dave was unsure what he felt towards the dark giant squid. Was it fear from its might and power? Hatred towards it as it had to fight the dragon here and crash on the last few remains of the village. Was it gratitude for killing the dragon that ruined his life? He didn't know.

Before he knew it he had already ran half a kilometer away from the beats. He noticed that the octopus didn't seem to attack him. After thinking about it for a moment he noticed that it probably could have already squashed him with one if it's free tentacles. Either it was too injured to attack him or it didn't want to attack him. He turned around looking at the giant beats before him. Dave was shocked. He really didn't expect this to happen. A giant laid before him. It didn't move much. The squid didn't attempt to attack him. Despite running away he barely moved away from the Beast. It was literally as large as a mountain the entire village would still be smaller than even its eyes. The difference in size is like comparing a small marble to a mammoth.

Relatively speaking for a being so big it had tiny eyes and even they war larger than the entire village. Its eyes looked like bright green sparkling gems. They were triangular. Its eyes were perfect equilateral triangles. Dave continued to run up to the highest hill in the forest. It was over 200 meters high yet it was negligible when compared to the giant squid. He already noticed the giant beast was following him with its eyes. It didn't seem to be hostile. He stared straight back into its eyes. It suddenly started to shake again. Eventually it tore one of its tentacles out of the dragon's stomach. As it pulled it closer to the octopus's beak. It chomped on the dragon's body and ate it while still looking at Dave. Dave could tell it enjoyed the taste of the dragon. After taking only a single bite it pushed away the dragon's corpse. The dragon's body was dragged away by the Squid's tentacles. After that the squid abruptly moved one of its tentacles towards Dave. In only a few seconds its tentacle reached Dave who was a few kilometers away. It stopped diagonally In front and above Dave. Dave was petrified. He already saw how during the battle with the dragon the squid shot out scorching hot steam as well as occasionally an odd black mist from its tentacles.

However what happened next shocked Dave to his core.
