5 Chapter 5

Before going on his next adventure, Yun Che spent most of the money he had obtained to buy a very pretty red dress for Jasmine, a very comfortable bed for her and a heavy sword for himself.

He had not yet practiced the Great Way of the Buddha, so his physique was not extremely strong. So the heavy sword he bought was not very heavy, just right for his current cultivation level.

When asked by Jasmine why he chose a heavy sword, he answered, "The Evil God's secret arts increase my strength a lot. In the future when my cultivation is higher and I am able to keep the gates open for a longer time, I will have an incredible amount of strength for my cultivation level. With his abnormal comprehension talent, he managed to master the first level of both techniques in just this one month. With the Star God's Broken Shadow, he could now form one illusion of himself, while with the Heavenly Wolf Hell God's Tome he was able to use the Heavenly Wolf Slash.

In this one month, he also continued his training regimen of depleting all his energy with Falling Moon Sinking Star and then rapidly recovering it, which resulted in his eventual breakthrough to 4th stage of Nascent Profound realm.

Finally, he had reached the Feng clan residing at the center of the Ten Thousand Beasts Mountain.

Jasmine exclaimed upon seeing them, "This is the mark of the Phoenix! They have the Phoenix imprint upon their forehead, but it is of a different color for some reason and they can't seem to hide it. Their profound energy level is also at 10th stage of Elementary Profound realm for every single one of them, it is weirdly uniform. And I can sense the essence of the Phoenix here. Is this the treasure you came for?"

"Yes master, the next treasure is the legacy of the Divine Phoenix which is present here. Apparently the divine Phoenix was a good friend of the Evil God, whose profound veins I have. She left her inheritance here because of this friendship."

"That is interesting. I didn't expect a True God inheritance in this lower plane."

"Also, these people seem to have their cultivation sealed by the Phoenix imprint upon their forehead. Only someone with the Phoenix's true inheritance will be able to free them of this curse."

"What are you waiting for then? Let's go and get it!"

Yun Che mused to himself that Jasmine seemed to be getting more and more excited and energetic with time.

He went and met clan leader Feng Baichun. Rather than beating around the bush, he got straight to the point, "Clan leader, I have a proposal for you. I actually know of a method to remove the imprint on your foreheads and remove your curse. But I need to have the inheritance of the divine Phoenix to do this. Feng Baichun's face twisted in horror as he imagined what the mercenary group would do if they got their hands on his clan. He really wouldn't be able to defend against them. His only hope was the young man before him, who might be able to deal with the mercenary group if he succeeded in gaining the inheritance.

"Alright, follow me. I will let you in the trial. But be warned that everyone before this who has gone into the trial has failed to return. I hope you will succeed."

Yun Che was led to the formation and let in the trial grounds. During this time, he had gone through all of the two sets of memories of the original Yun Che and assimilated all of it. This was in preparation for the Phoenix to read his memories. Thankfully, none of the memories affected his emotional state.

Hopefully, whoever or whatever had transferred him here had also taken the precaution to conceal his original memories from such techniques, but one couldn't be too careful.

Upon getting into the trial grounds, a pair of incomparably gigantic golden eyes appeared, embedded in the pitch black darkness.

Yun Che humbly greeted, "Junior pays respects to the divine Phoenix."

"Greetings human, welcome to the trial grounds. You are the first challenger without the phoenix bloodline in these last thousand years."

Then the Phoenix was shocked, "Wait a moment, I can sense the Evil God's aura from you. So you are the Evil God's inheritor! Not only that, you have the Fire seed as well, so the first and second stages of this trial shouldn't be too difficult for you. I must say, I am honored that my trial is finally taken by the Evil God's inheritor. I wish you good luck, human."

And thus, the first stage of the trial began.
