Chapter 41
“See for yourself.”
I slid the laptop around so that he could read the e-mail I’d received from Mitch.
“Are you gonna do it?” he said.
“That’s up to you to decide. Shall we go to Orlando from here, obtain the documents, and take them to Mitch, or shall we let your mother and stepfather stew about things for the two weeks it’ll take for Mitch to get them through channels?”
Before he could answer, the pager vibrated to let us know that our food was ready. “I’ll go get it,” he said.
While he did that, I sent a quick reply to Mitch, saying that we’d make a decision and let him know. I also let him know that I was in the middle of doing what he’d sent me here to do, which was track down and interview missing heirs. Nate returned to the booth carrying our trays and sat down
“I know what I need to do,” he said.
“What?”
“As soon as we get back to the hotel, I’m gonna call my grandparents—my maternal grandparents.”
“But….”
