"The trees... are moving?"
The trunks seemed to bend, roots intertwined, blocking the paths and passages between them. Darkness enveloped the surroundings, leaving only the red-glowing butterflies.
Jihan turned to Lisa, whose face was frozen, staring at the ground. Something wasn't right. Her next words made him freeze for a moment.
"Fy..nn?" she stammered.
Following her gaze, he quickly saw Fynn's body on the ground, pale and motionless. Li had seen her share of unconscious bodies during her life, and only a few of them weren't breathing. But seeing a familiar face in that state made her heart race. Crouching down, he checked his pulse.
"He's weak... he's alive... but unconscious," he thought.
The roots covering the ground were holding his body and connecting to his skin like extraneous veins. Other unknown corpses were also entangled, but Jihan quickly noticed that Matheus was not among them.
