71. Praise The Rod [1]
It looked all normal in the three villages today. The people were smiling, chatting, and doing their daily jobs like normal villagers. If anyone came here, they wouldn't notice anything wrong.
But the villagers were too cheerful, and they kept talking about the Lord. Well, it wasn't anything new to learn that they were religious. However, under the veil of all this, something sinister was about to happen.
It started as soon as the first silence of night descended. In the sky, a half moon shone among the countless twinkling stars. The winds blew gently over the roof tiles.
One by one, yellow lights lit inside the previously dark houses. They looked like fireflies from a distance. Villagers came outside holding lanterns and wearing brown capes. They silently glanced at each other and walked on the muddy village streets.
