Chapter 49: Fighting Many Alone
Marcus was completely frozen, staring at Chu Yang in disbelief. "You're just a first-year student. How did you learn these spells?"
"Aren't they all written in books?" Chu Yang sneered. "Besides the Disarming Charm, I also know the Petrification Spell you just mentioned."
Realizing the situation was dire, Marcus hurriedly shouted, "Stop him!"
Harper immediately pulled out his wand to cast a spell at Chu Yang. However, just as he drew his wand, a flash of light hit it precisely, sending it flying from his hand!
Another wand flew out!
"How can you cast spells so fast? Even fifth-year students don't have this kind of speed!" Harper screamed in panic, drawing the attention of the nearby upper-year students.
Some watched cautiously.
Others immediately chose to help Harper and Marcus.
If word got out that the two were disarmed by a first-year, it would be a disgrace to the upper-years!
And disarmed by a non-pureblood wizard, no less!
The upper-year students who had been watching the spectacle now all drew their wands one after another, ready to cast Disarming Charms at Chu Yang.
However, something terrifying happened... Whoever had the intention to attack found their wand disarmed by Chu Yang's spell within a second, hitting its mark precisely every time, without exception.
At this moment, it was as if Chu Yang could predict the future!
In just twenty seconds, a pile of wands had gathered on the floor of the common room!
"That first-year cast over ten Disarming Charms in such a short time! Even adult wizards don't have that much magical power!"
"His casting speed is faster than those who've passed the OWL exams!"
Exclamations erupted from the crowd. They had expected to see this non-pureblood wizard humiliated, but instead, they witnessed something that completely upended their understanding.
Marcus and Harper, the instigators, were now filled with deep regret!
"I told you, I know the incantation for the Petrification Spell as well," Chu Yang said with a devilish smile. He had no intention of letting these people off so easily; this wasn't the outcome he wanted.
Chu Yang hated trouble, especially when it involved persistent, cockroach-like enemies. The best way to deal with them was to hurt them badly, ensuring they wouldn't come back.
Hearing the words "Petrification Spell," the upper-year students who had planned to attack Chu Yang all panicked!
"Run!"
Marcus shouted and bolted for the exit of the common room.
Seeing this, the others quickly followed, scrambling in a panic and knocking over many decorations. The once elegant hall suddenly looked like a chicken coop.
But no matter how fast they ran, they couldn't outrun Chu Yang's wand.
Several flashes of light later, Marcus and the upper-year students froze in place, unable to move, only able to blink their eyes.
"Shouldn't you all be heading to class?" Chu Yang coldly reminded the remaining upper-year students who had been watching, his words carrying a warning. "If you're late, our house will lose points again."
His icy words were like winter frost falling on their hearts. The upper-year students no longer dared to linger and rushed toward the exit.
This new student, who was as strong as a monster, was clearly not someone they could handle. If they didn't run now, would they stay to become statues?
Moments later, the Slytherin common room was left with only a few boys frozen like sculptures.
"I just want to quietly study magic. Why is it so difficult?" Chu Yang sighed and shook his head helplessly. "It must be Dumbledore's fault…"
For the hidden knowledge in the restricted section of the library, Chu Yang had no choice but to endure whatever plans Dumbledore had for him!
Complaining to himself, Chu Yang stepped over the wands scattered on the floor as he walked out.
Crunch~ Crunch~
Hearing the sound, Marcus and the others showed pained expressions. Chu Yang's retreating figure left a lasting shadow in their minds.
Slytherin once again had students missing from breakfast in the Great Hall.
But this time, it wasn't the new students; it was the upper-years.
Snape vaguely sensed something was wrong, but he didn't give it much thought and returned to his classroom as usual to prepare for Potions class.
However, what happened next confirmed his suspicions.
More students missed their classes, and they were all from Slytherin. After class, Snape left the room with a dark, stormy expression.
As soon as the morning classes ended, Chu Yang was summoned to Dumbledore's office once again.
Snape, looking just as displeased, had been waiting for a while.
The moment they met in the headmaster's office, the tension in the air thickened.
"Mr. Chu Yang, can you tell me whether you're taking revenge on those students or on me?"
It was only the third day of school, and Slytherin students were already skipping classes in large numbers! And the culprit was none other than Chu Yang!
Snape's face was livid, trembling with anger, and his voice was as cold as if it had come from an ice cellar. "Since I've been head of Slytherin House, this has never happened before."
Looking into Snape's bloodshot eyes, Chu Yang sincerely said, "I'm very sorry, Professor Snape. I just want to get through each day peacefully, but the environment won't allow it. Maybe you should talk to Headmaster Dumbledore; transferring me to another house would be more practical."
Snape snorted coldly. He knew full well that Dumbledore had specifically placed Chu Yang in Slytherin, and he had some understanding of Dumbledore's motives.
Although Dumbledore might warn Chu Yang, in reality, he was pleased to see Chu Yang teaching those arrogant Slytherin students a lesson.
Moreover, transferring houses had never been part of Hogwarts tradition. Once the Sorting Hat made its decision, it was for life.
"Mr. Chu Yang, transferring is not an option. There has never been such a precedent at Hogwarts."
Dumbledore first corrected Chu Yang's attitude, then turned to Snape and said, "Although Chu Yang used the Petrification Spell on those students, we've learned that the upper-year students attacked first."
"Professor Snape, I think Slytherin could benefit from some lessons in etiquette. A group of upper-years bullying a first-year student is hardly something to be proud of!"
The veins on Snape's neck bulged in anger. He suddenly recalled something he had said to Chu Yang during Potions class not long ago. He never expected the boy to slap him in the face so quickly.
And it was a hard slap!
The entire house, from top to bottom, likely heard it!
Dumbledore adjusted his glasses and said solemnly, "The Petrification Spell isn't particularly harmful. Let's put this matter to rest. If those students have any complaints, they can come to me. Though I doubt anyone would dare."
After reviewing the situation, it was clear that the upper-years had started it.
Therefore, no one could fault Chu Yang for defending himself.
Snape had no choice but to swallow the humiliation of being outdone by Chu Yang and hastily excused himself.
