Chapter nine: I made an unwanted gift

Min, Nathalia's assistant, had been enduring the noise of a sawing machine for four hours. His office was located near hers and lacked soundproofing.

Upon entering Nathalia's office, Min said, "That noise could drive anyone insane. What are you doing?"

The office was filled with scattered pieces of cloth. Nathalia replied, "I'm almost done."

Finally, Nathalia sighed in relief. She needed someone to evaluate the ball gown she had just created. She held it up to show Min.

Min was in awe as he gazed at the beautiful ball gown she had designed. It was a black strapless gown with a glittering finish, perfect for the party's theme.

"It's wonderful. How could anyone not like it?" Min exclaimed.

However, Nathalia felt that something was missing from the gown. Despite its striking appearance, it lacked a certain element.

She had wanted to add some red to the gown but decided against it based on Li Senpai's preferences. Nathalia had deliberately searched for information on Li Senpai to create the gown, but the only information she found were various profile pictures of him in magazines and an article revealing his dislikes.

Suddenly, an alarm sounded. It was already time for Nathalia to pick up her sister, Sabrina, from the airport. She couldn't believe it was already two PM.

"It's time. Sabrina will be here in thirty minutes. Please take the gown to my home and give it to Aunt Lang. She will know what to do with it," Nathalia instructed Min.

She quickly grabbed her bag and rushed out of the office, filled with excitement to reunite with her sister after eight years.

Upon arriving at the airport, Nathalia looked around and spotted her parents embracing a girl with blonde hair. The girl was as stunning as any China model, yet she possessed the cool personality of someone who had lived abroad in USA for many years. Her long, fair legs resembled snow, and her unique patterned blonde hair flowed down her back.

This woman was undoubtedly her older sister. Nathalia ran towards her and embraced her tightly, saying through tears, "I've missed you so much."

The lady responded coldly, "Gross, who are you?" Her innocent voice and mesmerizing blue eyes looked down at Nathalia.

Determined, Nathalia insisted, "Maybe you don't remember me anymore, but I'm your sister. Mom always stopped me from talking to you, claiming that you needed rest. I'm overjoyed to see you here."

After all, who wouldn't be thrilled to reunite with a long-lost family member?

Before breaking into a chuckle, Sabrina discreetly observed the woman standing in front of her.

_It now dawned on me, as my mother had previously warned, that if I were her only daughter, all hope would have been lost. Do we even share the same blood?_

She pondered.

By now, any reader of this novel would have formed an accurate portrayal of her elder sister. Concealed behind her innocent countenance, she was an opportunist and self-centered woman, just like their mother.

_If only she would stop touching me, we might be able to get along. I find it hard to believe that I was once in contact with such an individual._

"You look absolutely stunning," Nathalie remarked.

"I am aware, and perhaps you are as well," Sabrina replied.

Nathalie felt overjoyed to see her sister and temporarily lost her ability to analyze words.

Had she been less apprehensive, she might have noticed the true nature of her sister's words.

"At last, my daughters are reunited. Let us return home and enjoy a meal," Mr. Hu declared.

"How disgraceful. I had hoped to dine at a five-star restaurant in China," Sabrina lamented.

"Hand your luggage to him, we are heading straight to the restaurant," Sabrina added, flashing an innocent smile as their mother finished her sentence and passed her bag to the house guard named Patrick.

Father and daughter had no choice but to follow behind.

At times, Mr. Hu couldn't help but feel manipulated by his wife.

Meanwhile, Li listened attentively to Secretary Liang's words while engrossed in a novel.

Exactly at 3:21pm, the Hu family entered a renowned restaurant known for serving the finest cuisine in China.

Before entering such an establishment, reservations were usually required. However, for those affluent enough, it was possible to secure a VIP room for immediate use.

On this particular day, Mr. Hu seemed to be fulfilling all his wife's desires, as he paid for a VIP room for the family.

Time flew by, and the family spent two hours at the restaurant, engaging in discussions about the differences and similarities between the USA and China.

"I believe it is time for us to return home," Mr. Hu stated.

He proceeded to the reception desk, settled an exorbitant bill, and then escorted his family to their car.

Sabrina remained as beautiful as when she first arrived, her flowing hair cascading down her back.

"I am delighted to be with my entire family," she forced a smile, inwardly feeling nauseated by her own words.

Everything she did was solely for her own advantage, including her pretense of having a brain tumor.
