Meredith's POV
As the car left the garage I saw my dad running from the house with Ace behind him, soon they were out of sight, as I navigated the desolate highway, the rhythmic hum of tires on asphalt echoed the emptiness that had settled within me.
The dull glow of streetlights overhead barely penetrated the shadows cast by the weight of my anguish. Behind the wheel, my hands clenched the seat as my knuckles turning pale under the strain.
Tears streamed down my face, a torrential release of emotions that blurred the passing scenery.
Each droplet seemed to carry the weight of the betrayal etched into the very fabric of my soul. The pain, an unwelcome companion, gnawed at my heart, each beat a reminder of the shattered trust that once bound me to the two people I held closest.
