The Trumpet Playing Skeleton.

She rose to the world of the living calmly. The first thing she took noticed of was her lack of flesh and any type of living tissue on her body. Reaching up to touch her face, she also found out that she had no eyes, tongue, or hair. It was without a doubt that she was a skeleton, a living skeleton.

"What is my purpose for living?" She questioned.

Despite having no sensory organs, the skeleton could see just fine in this dark cave. Ahead of her was a long corridor with an end that split to the left and right. To the next of her was a strange object. An object she could say, she's never seen before ever. It was gold all over and didn't look like something that could be used to help with anything.

This didn't stop her from picking it up with bony hands. She was curious what the possible use for such an object would be. Plus, it looked very valuable with its yellow shine. The newly awakened skeleton was very confused on how to even hold this tool much less use it. Her skelly fingers fumbled like a child trying to learn a task for the first time. Whatever this object might be, it definitely couldn't be something that anyone could pick up and use with ease. Then a miracle happened within this dark cave.

"Doot." The gold object sounded.

Doot. What a pleasant sound, the skeleton thought. She continued to make the thing go doot several time as she enjoyed the sound very much. Her legs rose from the sitting position she was in and began to move in a certain way to the doots. Along with her legs, both her hips and torso joined in on the delightful sound and started moving to the music.

Doot, the name she decided to call herself, paid no mind to sudden voices that entered her head or the boxes that appeared in her vision. With gaining the trumpet, rhythm, and dancing skill, she could feel that everything was improving at once! The sound maker started making more noises other than just doot when she fiddled with the other things on the thing. Her skelly moves and music began to look and sound a bit better and that made Doot very happy.

It was at this moment, Doot vowed to become the best trumpet player of all time. She sat in that part of the cave for days on end, doing nothing but practicing her music playing skills. As a being that didn't tire, there was nothing preventing her from doing such thing. Her unique skill, Skeleton, was a great help as the days passed by.

Skeleton Lv Maxed - You do not need to eat, sleep, or breathe. You do not tire nor feel pain. Immunity to bleeding, disease, paralysis, poison, and organ-related trauma.

Doot massively raised her skills during those days except for Dark Magic, which she had no interest in. Her bopping music didn't stop until a certain visitor came to her part of the cave. Which was strange considering that she was at a dead end with nothing but a rocky wall behind her when she awoke. She stopped playing her trumpet and looked at her guest.

Parts of his skull was missing from his cranium, bits and pieces of his flesh seemed to have been ate away from his arms and legs, and his skin hung tightly to his body as if the slightest agitation would cause it to rip and bleed away. Blood was present all over his figure, including his mouth and teeth. Doot could see the thumping of his brain as he stared at her with no light in his eyes. She held up her trumpet and blew.

"Doot!" The sound startled the creature and it growled at her.

She blew again but this time with a smooth peaceful tune. At first, the zombie angrily stomped when it believed that she was going to do the same thing but as time went on, it gradually calmed down. Doot continued this particular sound and observed her guest's reaction. Unknown to Doot, she was unconsciously feeding her dark mana into her trumpet as she played. An event that happened only by coincidence because of her intention to have someone else enjoy her music just as much as she does.

A pink aura coated both Doot and the zombie's bodies. Doot could feel herself being energized and boosted by this aura. Her guest gave a crazed howl with some shifting of his feet as the feeling overcame him as well, his external wounds began recovering at a visible pace. The skeleton started to ramp up her playing to see if she could somehow increase this feeling but there was no difference that she could feel after some time. Eventually, Doot ran out of mana and the aura coating the two dispersed.

Doot and her new friend looked at each other once the song was done.

"Graagh." He told her.

She figured he must want her to follow behind him because once he said that he started walking away. A skeleton that knew mostly nothing but playing the trumpet was finally going to explore this place she was born in. Doot decided to call her new friend Cranium because of his large head and when they first met, his exposed pulsating brain was the first thing she noticed about him. A thought lingered in the back of her head wondering about how such a wound even came about but she could not ask such questions as she was a skeleton. She couldn't talk like her friend!

Cranium led her down the left path instead of the right and brought her to some sort of jail area. On each side of the hall, metal cells filled up the place. Cranium ignored the cells and continued to walk straight down the hall. Doot curiously looked inside each and every cell. Some cells held chests that Doot wanted to open up and see what was inside. Some were filled with skeletons of all types of shapes and conditions but none of them were alive like her. And in others there was nothing at all.

Doot wondered why were all those chests placed in a hall like this with locked cells. Cranium still didn't show any interest in anything they saw. He just kept leading her somewhere. As they walked, Doot blew into her trumpet. She didn't have much else to do to pass the time, so why not spend it on something productive?

Seeing Cranium nod his head to the small upbeat sound made her feel good. Eventually he brought her to a long staircase leading downward. The bony skeleton could hear a bunch of sounds coming from down there and the first thing that popped into her mind was would they enjoy her music too? A lot of noises emitted from down these stairs that Doot has never heard before. She should try to make different sounds with her trumpet too.

"Grrrh." Cranium moaned.

They began to walk down the stairs together. It seemed like Cranium has been down here before. He sure knew his way around on the floor they came from. That made her wonder why did he come down to her part of the cave? Was he looking for a friend or something else?

Once they made it down the staircase, the skeleton and zombie were confronted by a creature unlike them. It stared at them with drool leaking from its mouth. Cranium yelled at the creature and Doot just looked at it strangely. And before she could try playing her music to it, Cranium took off and ran towards the creature with his sharp claws outstretched. The beast responded negatively to such an aggressive action and snarled its teeth at Cranium. It dashed on all fours and pounced at the zombie.

Seeing the difference in body size and physique, made Doot wonder just how Cranium could run at that thing with such confidence. That beast resembling a tiger in physique but a cross between a dog and a rat. A dog's shape and mannerisms with the tail and color of a rat. The animal used its heavy weight and forced Cranium to the hard-cold floor. It sunk its teeth into his neck as he clawed deep scratches upon its face, attempting to reach its eyes.

Doot realized that she couldn't just sit here and do nothing as her friend was being eaten! She channeled the innate dark mana within herself and blew into her trumpet at the beast. An invisible wave of magical energy came out of her instrument, knocking the beast off of Cranium. It rolled away disorientated, but it didn't look damaged at all from her attack. Cranium slowly got up with a massive spray of bleed shooting from his neck. He eyed the dog-like monster with hatred.

Doot played her trumpet with the intention of helping Cranium with everything she had. A powerful sound flowed into Cranium's ears. Magic ran through the insides of his body, empowering his nerves, muscles, bones, and blood. Doot's usage of magic along with her playing created a pink aura around herself. Cranium felt as if he was invincible! On top of the world with that shrill bumping sound playing into his ears. It wanted him to go forward and fight with all his strength! Hold nothing back and kill without restraint! Cranium screamed as he ran forward once again.

The beast tried pouncing him again, but Cranium was not the same zombie he was before. The rotting corpse slammed his hand against the side of the animal's sternum as it neared him, smashing it against the stone floor. A chunk of the floor broke upon impact. Such a surprising attack, left the monster in a confused and pained state. Cranium took full advantage of its current state and pounced on top of the creature himself.

Digging his claws into its stomach and ripping out its organs with untamed brutality and savagery. With that sound continuously flowing through his ears, his heart and body was still surging with energy. Cranium's claws were moving far faster than normal thanks to Doot's music, he could tear through the flesh of the animal in seconds. Not giving it the chance to possibly overturn this unfavorable situation. The innards of the dog monster were torn out and devoured by the undead as it softly whimpered in pain.

"Doot." And her song came to an end with most of the flesh of the beast eaten by Cranium.
