Just Torturing Each Other

Mo Xigu felt a heartache having heard Su Xiqin mention happiness and a price to pay. Why does it hurt? Why does it hurt this much?

He wasn't able to figure it out why and didn't want to. All he knew was that he didn't want her to be happy; he wanted to give back the humiliation she had given him for cheating on him, and she had to learn that happiness wasn't going to be easy for her. 

"Happiness? My happiness was long gone. Don't think you can be happy if I'm not happy. Even if I'm going to Hell, I will drag you with me." His voice sounded as if he had already been to Hell. 

Su Xiqin stared at the man in front of him, and she had a blank expression as if grassland had been burned to ashes, leaving just plain emptiness. 

Suddenly, Mo Xigu thought of something and asked. "I heard you went to the hotel for this opportunity; why did you have to go to a hotel for a conversation on a contract? You and Bai Yansen spent that long in the same suite…" 

He left off there, giving rooms for imagination, and Su Xiqin sneered as she understood what he truly meant. 

"So what if we were discussing business at a hotel?" 

Her reply to Mo Xigu sounded as if she had admitted that she used other tricks to gain this opportunity; he stood up suddenly and pointed his finger at her. 

"So you really traded yourself so that you could have a divorce with me? Su Xiqin, do you want to leave me this badly?" 

His eyes were burning with rage. If they weren't in public right now, he might have rushed over and ripped her apart. 

"This marriage is just us torturing each other, " said Su Xiqin indifferently as she stared at the raging Mo Xigu. 

She then stood up and left as Mo Xigu fell back into his seat and stared blankly in her direction… 

Meanwhile, at another dim corner, another deep gaze was also staring at her as she walked away...

All of Su Xiqin's hopes were gone after she returned from the resting area. She hoped to use this chance to earn her divorce, but now that it had been completely crushed by Mo Xigu, she couldn't care less about this collaboration. 

So when Ji Qingyang announced that the Mo Corporation was the winning company, there wasn't a trace of happiness on Su Xiqin's face. 

Although everyone applauded, she didn't smile at all. Bai Yansen squinted his eyes and locked his deep gaze upon her oval face that didn't have a smile. 

Su Xiqin stood by the sidewalk after she came out of Zhuosheng; her eyes were lost like an abandoned child not knowing where to go. 

Her figure caught the attention of Jiang Cunyu, who was waiting at the red light in his car. 

"Isn't that Ms. Su who just won the collaboration?" Jiang Cunyu murmured as Bai Yansen opened his eyes and looked at her through the rearview mirror. 

The pedestrians busily crossed the road while a slim figure stood still by the roadside, and her gaze had become misty, staring into the unknown as she remained aloof from the world. 

The light turned green, and the traffic started to move again. Jiang Cunyu pressed on the pedal, but he saw his boss's tight expression through the rearview mirror.

Just when the car was about to pass her, Bai Yansen spoke up. 

"Let her in." 

Jiang Cunyu froze a bit and looked through the rearview mirror again. Bai Yansen already closed his eyes and rested his head on the backseat. 

Jiang Cunyu didn't get much time to think as he quickly turned right and pulled in front of Su Xiqin. 

Su Xiqin was still caught up in her thoughts and didn't realize that a car parked beside her. 

The tinted window rolled down as Jiang Cunyu stuck out his head and called out. "Ms. Su." 

Su Xiqin was stunned a bit as she looked back at the half-rolled window, and she blinked when she saw Jiang Cunyu's face as if she was searching for who he was. 

Finally, she remembered that she had just seen him in Zhuosheng, and he was Bai Yansen's assistant whose last name was Jiang. 

"Hello." Although she was pale, she replied out of courtesy. 

"Ms. Su, the CEO is inviting you for a ride." 

Su Xiqin heard Bai Yansen's name, and her gaze instantly fell upon the back seats. But because the car windows were tinted, she couldn't see anything. 

However, she still politely rejected him, "Thank you, CEO Bai; I'm waiting for someone." 

"Ms. Su, it's better if you get in because cars can't park here. The CEO has something for you." Jiang Cunyu could tell that she didn't want to be with Bai Yansen, so he rushed her, not giving her the chance to back away.

Having heard that the CEO of Zhuosheng had something for her and especially after the Mo Corporation had just won the collaboration, she had to hop in the car and seated herself near the car window. 

The car started slowly again as it merged into the traffic. The sealed windows blocked off noises from the outside, making it abnormally quiet inside the car, so quiet that it made her feel uneasy. 

The distress she felt from Mo Xigu's actions was gone, and she sighed out of relief when she saw that Bai Yansen's eyes were closed since she didn't know how to face him. 

Jiang Cunyu who was driving the car occasionally looked back through the rearview mirror; he saw Bai Yansen's eyes were closed, and he couldn't guess why his boss wanted Su Xiqin in the car. 

He had never seen his boss do anything like this; it was weird. 

He then looked to Su Xiqin, and her body was nearly stuck on the car window. Usually, women would be fond of his boss, but Su Xiqin was treating his boss as if he had an infectious disease and wanted to remain as far away as possible. She seemed like she was very afraid of his boss, and he wondered what he had done to her. 

Buzz! A screen rolled up between the front and backseat, blocking off Jiang Cunyu's curious gaze. Jiang Cunyu turned his focus back onto the road awkwardly and concentrated on driving. 

Su Xiqin was a bit shocked as now there were only the two of them in the sealed space, and she could feel his gaze making her hands sweat. 

She pretended that she didn't know anything, but the gaze didn't move away. She felt as if thousands of needles were shooting toward her and could pierce her through at any time. 

Su Xiqin held it for a few minutes until she couldn't take it anymore and turned her head as she stared into a gaze that encompassed an endless abyss. 

Bai Yansen pressed his thin lips together, and his sculpted features looked even more bold. Raw hair fell down upon his brows and casted shadow over his eyes. His eyes were like two train tunnels that were bright at the exit but dark inside, making it hard to know what he was thinking and what emotions he had. 

Su Xiqin was a little afraid and also a bit shy as she stared at him. They stared into each other's eyes quietly, and a strange chemistry started to form between them in the closed space.

Su Xiqin didn't know what to say to break this atmosphere. 

"Afraid that I'll eat you?" Bai Yansen suddenly spoke, and his words could be quite misleading, leaving a lot to the imagination. 

Su Xiqin was a bit stunned and realized that his words could be interpreted in several ways. Suddenly, the scene of him kissing her appeared in her head again, and her pale face blushed red in an instant. 

"Who's afraid," she quickly replied. 

Bai Yansen curled his lips, making him look even better. This was Su Xiqin's first time seeing him smile; she was surprised and couldn't react at first. 

Only when he stopped smiling and stared straight at her, seeming to suck her inside with his gaze, she realized that her answer was too simple.

"Ahem," she coughed and explained. "I meant that CEO Bai isn't some monster…"
