Mr. Alistair Hilton knew who she was as soon as he saw her. And he was visibly relieved to learn that the person he met was not another enemy.
"It turns out to be Miss Loraine Antares," the man greeted them with a smile as if he couldn't feel his injuries.
Loraine could already smell the strong stench of blood from him though.
"Nice to meet you, Mr. Alistair Hilton.
I didn't expect to meet you in a place like this.
It appears that you encountered some trouble," Loreen smiled back, acting unfazed as well even though this was the first time she saw several people soaked in blood.
Deep inside, she was freaking out since it meant they needed to help these people since Mr. Alistair had a business deal with her father.
Moreover, she could no longer ignore them after seeing them.
Especially now that they were even speaking with each other.
She would die of guilt if she just turned her back on them with how they were looking.
His people seemed extremely loyal to him to have such a pleading look in their eyes for her to help even if it was just their master that she helped
Mr. Alistair was the youngest billionaire listed two years ago. Yet, he already had some business cooperations with her father.
Loraine did not recognize him right away because the original owner hadn't personally met him and had only heard about him.
"I also didn't expect our first meeting to be like this.
My apologies for this kind of sight.
I did run into some trouble and as you can see, I'm heavily injured.
Can you lend us your assistance?
I promise to help you with at least two things you ask for in the future, and I will not refuse as long as it's within my power," Mr. Alistair promised.
Loraine knew he must be desperate even if it didn't show on his face.
After all, he might die here if he wasn't treated immediately or if their pursuers catch him like this.
'His willpower is quite strong for him to keep maintaining his pride and haughtiness even in a situation like this,' Loraine internally sighed.
She could tell that Mr. Alistair was doing his best not to show any sign of pain and there was no sign of begging or desperation in his eyes, unlike his guards.
He would rather die than beg, unlike his guards who would rather beg than let him die.
'Haish. I didn't know there are really people like this,' Loraine internally shook her head.
Mr. Alistair was already on death's door but he was still acting like he was the one in charge.
Still, asking for help must have already been a huge blow to his pride especially since he was the youngest billionaire in the country.
He must be a very capable person.
"You are being overly polite, Mr. Alistair.
You don't have to make that kind of promise," Loraine smiled.
She could at least help a business partner of her father. After all, whatever it was, her father's money would be spent by her anyway.
She should help people who would indirectly help her get the life of luxury and freedom that she wanted.
"I can't just take advantage of you, Miss Loraine.
I have to insist on paying you back.
Especially since this is quite a situation," Alistair replied, a man of pride indeed.
However, it was also true.
Loraine did not even know what kind of danger this was so getting something in return for helping him was not half bad either.
"Alright. Since you put it that way, I will gladly accept it," Loraine accepted.
They are both intellectual individuals and this was the solution they could agree on.
Loraine was a rational person, and she didn't want to cause trouble for herself.
A billionaire with heavy security even stronger than hers was injured to this degree.
It was clear that his opponent could not be underestimated.
It wasn't that Loraine was not willing to help. It was simply that the assistance she provides would be different when there is a reward.
Alistair was also aware that he needed to persuade Loraine to assist him all the way.
After all, to move someone in Loraine's standing, he immediately needed to offer a reward that could not be refused.
That was why he made a promise.
And he said he would help her with two things she wanted in the future, not just one.
Meaning, that by helping him here today, Loraine was gaining this billionaire as an ally at least until her two rewards were fulfilled by him.
And it was important to note that he offered anything within his power.
He was desperate indeed. Just still haughty.
Loraine didn't dislike it though.
'Since he offered, he shouldn't blame me in the future if I ask for too much. I will reserve it for something important.'
"Mr. Alistair, before helping you, I at least need to know what trouble I'm getting myself into," Loraine inquired first although she was already willing to help him.
But if this was something that could bring down her family, she would turn a blind eye to this and pretend like she didn't see him at all.
"Don't worry, Miss Loraine. It's just a family squabble," Alistair smiled yet again.
'Haha. Damn, these rich people. Family squabbles are like this? I better not have any squabbles with the original owner's family,' Loraine made a very important note.
She would not provoke an unnecessary fight. Not that she would not fight back if they attacked first.
"I see, if it's just a squabble, I can certainly help," Loraine agreed although she was already screaming in her mind just what kind of family squabble would lead to them killing each other like this.
'I just can't understand their logic. Mr. Alistair can really talk, can't he? He simply downgraded the situation to a squabble. Can a simple disagreement lead to the death of others? What a joke!'
