The Beginning of Death: Chapter 9

Currently Jack was standing in a line with the rest of the people in the neutral zone. Since Jack was near the end when he got in the line there was almost no one left there. He had heard Odelette had gotten the mage class which from what Cinzina had said was quite rare. Jack was curious what class he would get so as he stepped up to the door he was getting goosebumps on his arms.

Cinzina "Hurry up, we aren't gonna wait forever!"

Jack nodded and quickly opened the door and walked inside. As he stepped inside he was enveloped by some sort of mana and he felt as if 7 pairs of eyes were staring into his very being. Jack also heard them mumbling things between themselves.

Jack could vaguely make out what they were saying. They were currently talking about what class they should give him when suddenly everything stopped.

Jack was now able to open his eyes but when he did he noticed that there was nothing there. He felt as if time itself had suddenly stopped. Jack knew that something was up so he checked around to see if he could see anything.

Jack was looking around when he felt the box that he had on him from the tutorial shaking violently inside of his bag. He pulled the box out of his pocket and once again tried to open it but the box slipped out of his hands as he was struggling to open it.

As soon as the box fell it melted with the ground. As Jack was staring at the ground he noticed what seemed to be stars in the darkness. As Jack inspected them closer he felt as if those were not stars but instead eyes.

When Jack came to that conclusion he suddenly felt a great pain in his chest. He felt as if knives were piercing his heart and more were being stabbed into him over and over.

Jack was about to pass out from the pain when he heard a mysterious man's voice.

Mysterious Man "Endure it, and it will aid you in the future."

Jack tried to look up but soon passed out.

The next day Jack stirred awake and quickly shot up feeling around his chest to see if anything felt different but he noticed that not much had happened. He also wanted to know who the man was inside the room and what was inside the box but he knew nothing would answer his questions so he shook it out of his head.

He then pulled up his status to see if there were any changes.

Jack noticed that he now had a class so that would help his growth in the future.

After Jack finished inspecting the changes in his status he got out of bed, showered, and got his morning coffee.

As Jack was looking at missions to do he noticed a bunch of training missions for various weapons. He also noticed a short sword one so he decided to make that his main weapon of choice and tore the paper in half.

Jack popped back into the commons area with a golden flash of light 3 hours after he originally tore it. He checked the job related ability section of his status.

While Jack was training with his short sword he noticed that when he got the abilities corresponding with his attack its attack power increased so he trained them till they were at Low (Mid) since after that he was feeling a little mentally exhausted from repeating the same thing over and over again for 3 hours.

Jack also noticed that when he got his class assigned to him he got an ability point but he decided to save it till he hit a bottleneck and use it to boost his power.

Jack was on his way up to his room ,passing the gym, when he heard Seol and the Tall blonde still training.

Jack 'Looks like he is still at it, well whatever not much I got to do with it. It did look like he needed it from when I first saw him though.'

After Jack made it up to his room he took a quick 30 min nap then headed back down and tore a hard mission paper in half.

Jack then popped into a cave-like area and summoned a short sword from his shadow.

Jack quickly noticed that he was in a circle so he thought he might need to defend it and began to check his surroundings.

He then saw a group of about 25 skeletons all wearing armor like knights would.

Jack 'Let's go.'

After Jack thought that an army of 100 shadows appeared behind him and charged towards the group of skeletons.

Jack also noticed that the Largest skeleton was beating most of the smaller soldiers he had summoned and it was draining his mana at a large pace so he charged in and grabbed the agro of the large skeleton.

The skeleton sent a sweeping attack at him which he jumped over. Jack then slashed at the skeleton's arm that swung at him.

The skeleton's arm fell and his sword fell with it but he used his other arm to throw a punch towards Jack's stomach. Jack got hit by the punch which knocked him back and on his butt. Jack was gasping for breath when another skeleton stabbed at his head from the side.

Jack 'Damn gotta dodge that.'

But when he was trying to move out of the way he saw Hook swinging his anchor towards the skeleton. The skeleton was quickly wrapped in a wire and yanked back towards Hook who proceeded to bash it with the anchors multiple times till its head was reduced to dust.

Jack then picked his short sword back up and charged back at the large skeleton who had rearmed itself with the sword using its other hand. The skeleton sent an overhead chop at Jack who then dashed to the side of the skeleton and stabbed at its head. When Jack did that the sword pierced its head and the skeleton fell over and its bones scattered.

After that Jack looked around and noticed that his soldiers were still fighting so he quickly helped them finish the rest of them off and created more soldiers out of the skeletons.

He was then engulfed by a golden light and popped back into the commons area and proceeded to tear another hard mission paper in half.

For the next month and a half Jack would continue to complete missions and train his short sword skills, strength, and stamina. Jack felt that he needed to get stronger individually so that if there ever was a case where he had to fight alone he could guarantee that he would win.

Jack did not want to rely on his shadow soldiers too much as that would make him weaker in one on one combat. So Jack continued to train and complete missions so that he could make sure he would survive in paradise.
