Death in Paradise: Chapter 11

After Jack and Sam finished catching up with each other they got in a carriage and began heading towards a city named Scheherazade according to Sam.

Jack "This place looks a lot more barren than its name implies."

Sam "Well that is mostly just around here and near the other cities it is a lot more green."

Jack nodded and was looking out the back of the carriage. He was thinking what his next move should be now that he was in paradise.

Sam "Well you are probably wondering what you should do next right?"

Jack spun his head around with a raised eyebrow.

Jack "You read minds?"

Sam laughed it off and continued.

Sam "Well paradise is a place of endless possibilities as long as you are strong enough so you should probably go and do some missions or an expedition or 2 to raise your level."

Jack "Hm, well what should I start with?"

Sam "The main city I stay in is Scheherazade but you could head over to Eva as it is pretty close to the Federation's borders and the parasite border is not too far away so there usually is stuff to do near there. Although there is a lot of corrupt officials there."

Jack "Corrupt you say."

Jack could deal with them which would help him get stronger and learn to fight against people better since all he has been doing is killing monsters.

Around 2 hours later they arrived at a caity with a large wall surrounding it. It almost seemed as daunting as the fortress from the impossible mission if not worse.

They soon entered through the gate and were greeted with what was a medieval cityscape.

Sam "You want to go back to Earth to see anyone?"

Jack "There is no one left to see so no."

Sam "I see. Well you are also going to have to pick a god to follow, and it will also affect how you grow in the future spending on the god you chose."

Jack "I will think about it later since I still can grow plenty on my own for now."

Sam "Ok whatever you say."

They began to walk down the road as Sam was showing Jack around the city. They walked past a large building and Jack and Sam said it was the building of the largest organization in Paradise, Sinyoung. Jack remembered that name and shoved it to the back of his brain in case he needed it for later. They continued on their way as Sam was touring Jack around the place.

-----

Just as Jack was walking by Sinyoung's building a lady with white hair exited the building and noticed Jack. She seemed to remember him from somewhere but couldn't quite put a finger on it.

He looked similar to a little kid she saw when she was in Europe with her father. The kid at the time looked like he was just beaten up. He had bruise marks on his arms and legs so she walked up to him and shoved a piece of candy in his face hoping to cheer him up.

Yun Seohui "Hey you!"

The young Jack looked up at her with a scowl on his face hearing that.

Yun Seohui "Jeez you don't have to look at me that way."

Luckily she had learned english at a young age due to her father so she could talk to the kid.

Jack "If you have nothing to say to me then leave."

Yun Seohui "Hey I was trying to give you some candy to cheer you up."

Jack "I don't eat candy so no."

Yun Seohui puffed her cheeks and pouted while retracting her hand with the candy in it.

Jack then got up and began to leave but Yun Seohui grabbed his wrist before he could.

Yun Seohui "What's your name?"

"Jack"

That was one of her fondest memories before she had become a person with no feelings.

Remembering this made her smile genuinely for the first time in years.

-----

Jack was inside of a hotel room resting and thinking about where he should go in the future. He was torn between Haramark and Eva. Those 2 cities seemed to have the greatest potential of increasing his strength at a good pace since they were the 2 cities with the most conflicts according to Sam. Conflict always breeds fighting and fighting increases strength at least that was how Jack saw things in life.

Sam also said that Haramark had less restrictions so he would be able to move more freely than in Eva but Jack thought it wouldn't matter where he went since he would not feel too threatened since he had an army at his back at all times.

In the end he couldn't make up his mind so he decided to go grab some food to eat for dinner.

Jack arrived at a busy place that looked like it was a bar so he headed in. When he entered he saw a bunch of people boisterously laughing and yelling at each other. Jack sat down at the bar and ordered some soup and a glass of water.

While Jack was eating, two men got into a fight behind him. One of the men accidentally bumped into Jack's back. Jack got irritated by it, turned around and the man noticed Jack glaring at him.

Drunk guy "What you glaring at me for!"

As soon as he said that a pitch black short sword was at his neck.

Jack "You are interrupting my meal."

The drunk guy backed off and nobody bothered Jack besides a few curious glances and glares. When Jack finished his meal he gave the bartender a few coins that Sam had given him.

Jack then walked around the town to see the nightscape of the city. When he was walking around he smelled some tea being brewed from a small shop that had a sign with the name Teahouse of the Winds and Fairies written on a sign. The smell piqued his interest as he was an avid tea and coffee drinker. He opened the door and saw that the building was seemingly empty. Jack tapped the bell located on the counter.

Woman "One moment please."

Jack sat down at one of the tables and waited a few minutes.

Soon a woman appeared from the doorway behind the counter.

Woman "I apologize for the wait, what can I get for you?"

Jack "I would like whatever tea you were just brewing, as it had quite a good smell to it."

Woman "Ok."

Jack then sat back down and waited a few more minutes.

The Woman returned and handed him the tea.

Jack "Thank you very much."

Woman "Might I ask what your name is?"

Jack "My name is Jack Steyer."

When Jack said that the woman trembled ever so slightly. Jack didn't notice as he was enjoying the tea.

Jack "And you?"

Woman "Seo Yuhui."

Jack "You make some fine tea Mrs. Yuhui."

Jack finished his tea without speaking another word and soon left, leaving a thank you and goodbye to the woman. Jack soon fell asleep after arriving at his room and planned to find Sam tomorrow to discuss where he was going in the future.

1215 words today. This one was kind of late but a chapter is here nonetheless. I plan focusing mostly on Paradise in the future and wil only have a few times where he actually goes back to earth as Jack really has no reason to go back. Now I am torn between Eva and Haramark. Any suggestions are welcome and if you would like a diffrent city there are a bunch so let me know. As always let me know if you want me to change or fix anything, and Enjoy!
