C32 Auction (4)

POV Royal Guard Captain

Clearing the docks was easy work, as I said before these are smugglers, not trained soldiers. There were some high ranking guards, but nothing that was too worrying. The strategy we used for the docked ships worked, as we had Nova make us appear on the ships. We cleared them out as quickly and quietly as possible, and were somehow able to clear the ships without notifying anyone in the warehouses of our presence.

When we started clearing warehouses, I couldn't help but marvel at all of the riches his majesty is taking possession over. Giant warehouses filled with silk, wool, spices, food, wine, gems, gold, etc. Although, the last warehouse on our list was truly horrid. As we subdued the guards and entered the warehouse, it was filled with people. These people weren't just sitting around relaxing, no they were all chained to the ground. They came from all walks of life, humans, Demi-humans, elves, and I think I even saw a couple of dwarves in there somewhere.

Slavery is illegal in the Fortis Kingdom, so we freed these people immediately. Of course, they were wary of us at first, but after unchaining them, and showing them the subdued guards they seemed to calm down. Most of the guards were capture instead of killed, as the prince commanded. Especially the high ranking guards, as the prince wanted them for something. I wonder what he wishes to do with these ruffians. They are strong, but they're criminals after all. The former slaves will be relocated to the manor, for the prince to decide what to do with them. The captured traffickers, smugglers, and guards are brought to their jail cells with the help of Nova. That bird is a godsend and if we didn't have her this would never get done in one night.

"Everyone form up! We have more criminals to apprehend!"

POV Syrin

"Explain why I'm here. I'm not here because I want to participate in the auction." Her face becomes serious. "I'm here because slavers are auctioning my people off tonight!"

"So you wish to buy them back?" I ask as Rem pours us each a cup of tea. "Sugar? Milk?" I ask as I put a spoon full of sugar and a splash of milk in my tea.

"Yes, please." She says and I add some of each to her tea. Rem looks at me with an annoyed expression. I guess I'm stealing her job. "Yes, I want to buy them back, but I'm also looking for a way to break them out."

"Hmm, I see." I nod and take a sip of my tea. Bellrich may be a disgustingly fat criminal, but his servants know how to brew good tea. "You're from the Bestia Kingdom, correct?"

"Yes, Your Highness." She answers swiftly.

"Are you a Noble?" I ask as I set my tea on the table.

"Yes, but I'm also a member of the Royal Guard." Lily explains and sips her tea. She adds another scoop of sugar to her tea and sips again. A small smile forms on her face, as she must like sweet things.

"You would have to be a high ranking knight for the Royal Family to trust you with something like this." I say.

"Well, I'm just happy that they trust me with something like this." She says with an embarrassed smile.

"Did they dispatch backup for you, or are you here alone?" I ask.

"I have backup, and they've surrounded the hotel already." She explains. She's not the best with keeping secrets, huh. Well, slavery is illegal In our kingdom, so she probably thinks I'm here to shut the auction down. I am, but if I was her, I would have been more cautious.

"Good, how many?" I ask.

"How many what?" Lily replies.

"Knights, how many knights did they send with you?" I reiterate.

"A hundred. Any more and I would've drawn too much attention." She explains.

"Alright, we seem to be here for similar reasons, so you'll be staying here. I can't have you getting caught, and ruining my plans." I say and she tries to speak, but I cut her off. "This decision is final. Souei, do you know where her men are?"

"Yes, I have eyes on them." Souei replies.

"Do you know which one is in charge while Lily is away?" I ask.

"One moment... Yes, I've found him." He says.

"Bring him here." I order and a clone of Souei appears in the room along with a man in a black cloak.

"What!?" He shouts and draws his sword.

"Put that away this instant!" Lily orders.

"Sorry, Mam" he expertly sheathes his sword and salutes Lilly. At least she has trained them well. This guy just got teleported, and a simple order from Lily calmed him down.

"Pay your respects to the prince!" She orders and the man looks at me. He freezes for a moment and kneels on the floor.

"Your Highness, please forgive my rudeness." He begs. I may get a superiority complex soon. If I don't already have one.

"It's alright. You were brought here because I've discovered your movements in my city." I say.

"Many apologies once again, Your Highness." He begs again. Is this guy a dog Demi human? I can't tell because of his hood, but I'm sure he is.

"Once again it's alright. It's good that you're not doing any unscrupulous activities in my territory." I eye him for a moment. I then look to Souei to confirm my assumption and he nods. Good, they aren't doing anything bad. "Although, you didn't ask for permission to enter my territory, let alone the country. I'm willing to forgive that based on extenuating circumstances. The freedom of slaves is something my family and I heavily support." I say. Lily and the man let out a sigh.

"Thank you, Your Highness." Lily bows her head slightly from her seat. The auction starts again, but this time it's rare gems and jewelry. Nothing anyone in the room is interested in, so I ignore it and continue on. It will be mine soon enough.

"There is one problem though." I hold up a single finger. "You see, I came to my new city, as I'm the duke of Ephia now. You've heard the news, yes?" They both nod their heads. "Well, upon my arrival in Sena, I learned that a criminal organization has infested my Duchy. I then come up with a plan to cleanse the city, and during this plan, you show up." They both flinch slightly. "Now, I can't have you ruining my plans, so you'll be taking orders from me for the rest of the night." The man tries to speak up, but Lily stomps on his foot. Yup, that looks painful.

"We'll gladly listen to any orders, Your Highness." Lily says and the man next to her painfully nods.

"Good, before the auction ends, my men will surround the hotel. You and your men will fall in line with their orders. Am I understood?" I menacingly stare at the man in the cloak.

"Yes, Your Highness." He agrees promptly.

"Souei, take this gentleman back to his men before they do something stupid. Also, notify my forces of the recent developments." The man is taken back by a Souei clone, and I take another sip of my tea.

"I like this tea. Souei, can you capture that maid later for me?"

"Yes, Master."
