Dinner Party...

Nick and Chioma were really surprised to see a few of their friends over at Cheta's house, they just went over and hugged their friends and shook their hands too. It was a beautiful sight to see and I was very happy to see it.

"How did you pull this off?", Nick asked Cheta.

"It wasn't that difficult, I just called everyone and they showed up, meanwhile James is still on his way"

Nick laughs. "Of course...and he is late."

"Yeah, he is but he said he is almost here, so let's hope he is", Cheta said

The housekeeper walked into the living room and walked over to Cheta, "Excuse me, Sir.", he said to Cheta. Cheta turned to him, "Dinner is ready, Sir", he said to him.

Cheta nodded his head and said, "Thank you", the housekeeper walked out of the living room, and then Cheta turned to everyone and said, "Dinner is ready, everyone", he took my hand and we walked to the dining table. Cheta pulled out the chair, next to the head of the table for me and I sat down, then he sat at the head of the table.

Everyone else took their seat.

Cheta got up and then clinked his wine cup with a spoon, to get everyone's attention.

"Please can I have your attention for a few minutes", Cheta said to everyone.

Everywhere went quiet and everyone turned their attention to him.

"I planned this dinner for my friends, Nick and Chioma who are getting married in 3 days", he continued.

There are a few cheers from 1 or 2 people.

"And I'm so happy to see them get to this point. I mean I was there when it all started", he said

"Yes, you were there", Nick said.

"So, let's eat and drink and be merry, but first, let's raise our glasses to the almost newlyweds", Cheta said

"To the almost newlyweds", everyone said with their glasses raised.

"Let's eat!", Cheta said and sat down.

We all sat back down and started serving ourselves. Then we heard the door open and someone say, "I'm here!!". Cheta got up, laughing. A young man, James, another of Cheta's friends, walked over to the dining, "I still remember my way around the house", he said.

Cheta shook his friend's hand laughing, "What took you so long?", he said.

"I had to take care of some things", James said, then he turned to Nick who was standing and shaking his head, "And there's the groom, my man, Nick", he walked over to Nick and shook his hand.

"Guy, I've told you that you would be late for your wedding", Nick said to James, while he shook his hand.

"Have you made the toast?", James asked Nick.

"Yes, you were late to even the toast"

"Well, I won't be late for the wedding toast", James said

"We hope, now sit and let's eat", Cheta said.

They sat down and we continued serving ourselves, then James noticed me, sitting next to Cheta.

"Dinma?", he asked as he gestured at me.

"Yes, I'm Dinma", I answered and nodded my head.

"Wow!! It's nice to finally meet you"

"Nice to meet you too.", I said

"Cheta, it's nice to have you in Abuja this weekend. Now I'm sure the weekend is going to be fun", he said to Cheta.

"It's going to be", Cheta said

We continued eating dinner.

After dinner, everyone went back to the living room, holding their drinks, it was mostly chatting and a lot of laughs too. They stayed over till after midnight before everyone started leaving one after the other, then we were left with Nick, Chioma and James.

"This was nice, Cheta. You were both good hosts", Chioma said

"Yes, we are very grateful", Nick said.

"Are we going out tonight?", James asked

"I can't. I have a meeting tomorrow morning", Cheta said

"Oh! Dinma what will you be doing?", Chioma asked me

"I don't know. I'll be home writing"

"Yes, Dinma is a writer", Cheta said

"We can go out tomorrow then, maybe a salon for a pedi and mani. What do you think?", Chioma asked me

"Yes, that's a good idea baby, you can both spend the day together",

"Yes, I think so too.", I said

"If you don't want to go, it's fine,", Chioma said

"Of course, it's fine...I'll love to see Abuja"

"Yes!", Chioma said, excited

"We should get going. It's late", Nick said and got up

"Thank you again for dinner", Chioma said.

"I'll leave too, thank you for having me over", James said

We walked them out of the house, and after they drove out of the compound, we walked back into the house. When we got back upstairs, I went into the bathroom to take a bath and when I came out, Cheta was sitting on the bed.

"Did you have fun tonight, baby?", Cheta asked me

"Yes, I did. James is so funny"

"Yes, he is. Do you want to spend the day with Chioma tomorrow?", he asked me

"Yes, why not. I like Chioma"

"Okay, I just wanted to make sure I didn't force you into anything"

"No, you didn't."

"Okay, let me take a bath, I'll join you in bed", Cheta said

"Okay, my love"

He kissed me and walked into the bathroom. When Cheta walked into the bathroom. I picked up my laptop, to work, I had put off this but my deadline was almost close and if I had to meet up with the deadline, that meant I had to work extra time. I was still working when Cheta walked out of the bathroom.

"Working again?", Cheta asked me

"Yes, I have a deadline, so I must work"

"Okay. I won't disturb you, I promise"

"Thank you baby", I said and smiled

"But quick one, can you drive?", Cheta asked me

"I started learning but I didn't finish and I don't have a license. Why are you asking?" I asked him

"I wanted to know what car you would drive to your date with Chioma, but it's fine, the driver will take you instead"

"Okay, but I was thinking I take a cab", I said

"Nope... I'm not having my girlfriend in a cab, it's not like it's even safe"

"Okay baby, I'll go with the driver",

"Good. Now, you can go on with work", he said and got into bed with me.

I went back to writing on my laptop, Cheta lay down next to me, he took out his phone and started looking at something.

"Do you think putting your relationship on social media is a good idea?", Cheta asked me

"Baby, you are distracting me"

"I'm sorry, I'll let you be", he said

"Fine, I'll just share my attention. What were you asking?"

"I was asking if you think putting out your relationship on social media is a good idea?"

"Well, I don't think it's a bad idea but I prefer putting it out only when I'm sure the relationship is serious. Why are you asking?", I asked him

"It's just this post I saw online about someone saying that making your relationship public brings in all the vultures"

"Well, do you want to make our relationship public?", I asked him

"I mean, I don't think there's a reason why I wouldn't want to"

"Then let's do it", I said.

"Okay, I'm doing it right now"

I nodded my head, still typing on my laptop. An hour later, Cheta got tired of staying up and then slept off. I worked till 4.00 am, at this point, I was tired and very sleepy but thankfully I had gone halfway through the script, so I saved the work and shut down my laptop, I turned off the light and lay down to sleep. If you have been following this story from the beginning you would know that my thinking was always right before I slept off, so this was the best time for me to think about this social media thing and making our relationship public, I didn't have a problem with doing that, but my problem was putting different men up on my social media. In the past, I had been so obsessed with putting my relationship out there and before I knew what was happening I was putting out 3 different people on my social media in1 a year because I had been in a relationship with all 3 of them and that was not a good look for me, so I had made up my mind not to put out my relationship anymore until I was sure we were heading to the altar or already at the altar, but now Cheta wanted me to do and I don't know how I feel about it but it won't hurt to try. I mean Cheta was different from the other men I had dated, he was serious for one and it felt like we were heading to the altar, so maybe I would just put my relationship out there for the last time. Who knows.
