Swarm of Xermo

"How about a box of milk?" Yakov asked as they walked down. Majority of the food there had turned bad because no one was taking care of it. If there was still an insurance company here, they would surely turn bankrupt because it would be too costly to pay back all of them.

William nodded. They only relied on biscuits and instant noodles lately. Some milk should be good enough.

"Alright."

Taking a stroll in the mall, William knew that those that were still good were only the instant and dried food. He glanced around and decided to bring along a few packs of cereal. Afterwards, he took some salt and sugar along with chocolates and some other foods.

It didn't take long before his bag was full, so William walked out. Yakov was behind him, his bag was full with other items. At the same time, Yakov was hugging a pillow that he took not far from here.

"Do you really need a new pillow?"

"Sienna asked for one since the pillow in the camping bus is a bit hard," Yakov explained. Obviously, it was not for himself as he didn't really care whether there was a pillow or not. Soldiers were already trained to be able to sleep everywhere.

William was speechless but didn't say anything else.

The two of them walked out of the mall and headed back to the building. However, William could see that from a distance, the earth seemed to move a bit. His eyes narrowed slightly.

This kind of thing shouldn't have occurred unless there was a group of soldier coming closer…

Soldiers?

William's face changed greatly as he shouted, "Get inside the building. We need to depart now!"

"What?" Yakov was stunned.

"There's a large number of Xermo coming closer!"

They rushed into the building where the others were still busy. Gloria and Sienna had stored the weapons in the proper place and currently helping Rozan. They were stunned when they saw William and Yakov rushed into the building.

"What happened?"

"We need to leave. A large number of Xermo is coming over. Rozan, can we use the camping bus now?" William asked as he strode inside to put his bag followed by Yakov.

"Yes."

"Good. Yakov, you drive."

"Ok."

Rozan put down his tools into the box and shoved it into the back of the camping bus before closing it. He had already finished the most important modification and now only added some others. It was of less importance, but they would still need it in the long run.

"Where do you put the weapon?"

"Drawer on the side and near the bed," Gloria responded.

William crouched down and took out the machine gun that he took not long ago. Machine gun was commonly used by gunners who set up the gun from a certain distance. It could rapidly fire bullets, which was why it was very convenient to use. At the same time, he took out a tripod that was used to set it up.

"Rozan, where's the hole to the roof?"

"Above the sofa," Rozan replied as he walked inside. He was the last one to come inside because he had to clean up the necessary tools.

Sienna took the gun from her bed with Gloria not far from her. The two of them were preparing themselves should they need to begin shooting from the window at the back or at the sides.

"Start the car!" William instructed as he opened the door up.

"Roger."

Yakov quickly started the camping bus and drove to the gate. They didn't close the gate again after coming inside, allowing them to see outside. Just as they came out, Rozan could see a large swarm of Xermo coming from one side.

"This wouldn't be good," Rozan said with grave expression. Just how many people had turned into Xermo in the past few days?

How could they get out from here?

"Full speed," William said. He had just finished setting the tripod and placed the machine gun there. He didn't know which type this one as they could only scavenge it from the police station through pure luck. Neither one of them though that they would be able to get a machine gun.

"Yakov, are there any silencer for machine gun?"

"None. There's none that's big enough for it," Yakov responded. He could see the swarm of Xermo from the rear mirror, so he chose to step on the gas without caring for anything else. Hopefully, they would not drive into a dead end this way.

William clicked his tongue but didn't say more. He knew that finding the machine gun alone was already very lucky and the silencer needed for machine gun was generally bigger than most guns. After all, a silencer had to be bigger than the barrel in order to work properly.

He looked at the swarm of Xermo behind him. From the moment the camping bus began to move, they seemed to notice it and rushed over to catch up with the moving camping bus. There were so many Xermo that it looked like an army made of Xermo.

William gritted his teeth and aimed the machine gun towards them. He knew that the moment he began to shoot, the Xermo's attention would be fully on the car.

But the engine was already very noisy.

Adding another one wouldn't matter that much.

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

Series of gunshots began to fill in the air. The empty shells flung out and carried by the wind as William continued to aim. Sweat began to pour on his forehead as it was hard to shoot accurately with the machine gun.

"Sienna, switch with Yakov!"

"Ah?" Sienna had just finished shooting when she heard the order. She hurriedly threw the gun to the side and rushed to the front.

Yakov was even more confused than William. "Why are you changing the driver? I can't possibly leave this position!"

"I need you as the shooter!"

"#$%^&*!"

"You need to switch!" William repeated again. He knew that Yakov's accuracy was higher than him, so it would be better for Yakov to be the one to shoot the Xermo rather than him.

Yakov let out a series of curse once more and then glanced at Sienna beside him. "Wait a bit until we reach a straight line."

"Ok."
