Preparation to Leave

There was a motorcycle abandoned at the house next door. William had seen it when they first came here but didn't pay close attention back then. After all, there were several other cars and motorcycles that have been abandoned due to various reason all over the place.

William brought a rope with him and circled it around his body as he pulled the motorcycle to the direction of the garage.

"Be careful. The gang members might be around," Rozan reminded.

William nodded. "I will be careful."

"Also, I just need a few plates that are big enough to cover the camping bus."

It meant that William might need to go there back and forth a few times to get all the materials. He also needed to make sure that he did it quickly since the gang members could come at any time.

"Got it."

Wearing the helm, William started his walkie talkie. "Can you hear me, Yakov?"

"Loud and clear, Lucky. Use our codename please."

"Got it, Sharp."

"Front is clear. You can head forward for the entire block. There's no one else in that area."

"Ok."

Staring the motorcycle, William began to drive. If he had to be honest, travelling in the middle of the day like this was clearly not something that he would like to do. However, he knew that they didn't really have much time.

They didn't know what the military planned to do and didn't know how long the hotel could last.

If the military from other countries chose to attack the hotel first, they would be doomed. The only method for them to survive was only if they managed to get out of this place as far as possible.

The motorcycle slowly started and entered the street. "Which way?"

"After you reach the first intersection, turn right and enter the narrow alleyway. Follow until the second intersection…"

William followed Yakov's instruction while keeping his eyes out on the surroundings. He could see several cameras were shot by the gang members because they were located in very visible place. It seemed that the gang's members were trying to make sure that they left no evidence behind when they were cleaning this place.

The government's announcement only said that they were free to retaliate against the Xermo. However, there was nothing said about other survivors.

If their act were to be caught, they would be branded as criminals.

"The building is up ahead."

"I can see it."

The distance was not that far, but he had to cross the main street, so it might be a bit dangerous. William chose not to think too much and parked his motorcycle inside the building. His eyes scanned the destroyed building as he could see traces of blood here and there. There were also several corpses on the ground as he made his way inside.

'I need the strong metal.'

Inside his heart, William was glad that he knew the difference between metal because of the last case he handled. The criminals switched the metals, so he got a short briefing about their differences.

It took him some time to gather the bulletproof metal panels. Each panel was around a meter long and a meter's wide. He slowly piled them up at the back of the motorcycle until it formed a large pile. This would surely take some time, but William didn't have many choices but to continue piling them up.

"Lucky, don't come out now, the gang members are patrolling."

"Ok."

William looked at the pile that was already about the same height as him. He looked around the area and furrowed his brows. "Sharp, what else do you think we need aside from bullet proof metals."

Yakov was stunned. "I'm not mechanic, so I can't say for certain what we're going to need, but maybe some pipes in case we need repairs?"

"Got it."

While waiting for Yakov to give him the clear to get out, William walked around and picked several metal pipes that was still in good condition. He had to put them in a small box before he placed it on the front of the motorcycle.

"You can leave now."

"Got it."

William started the motorcycle and drove out of the building. He had just entered the main street when he heard Yakov cursed. Swiftly, he sped up and entered the alleyway not far from him.

"What is it, Sharp?"

"They're turning back. Stay where you are and don't move."

On his place, William could see the gang members slowly approaching. They were talking merrily while smoking. It seemed that they had already regarded this place as their turf where they could do whatever they wanted.

William's hand was holding onto the gun tightly, ready to be used if it was necessary. His eyes watched the gang members carefully as they passed the alley where he was hiding. There was no sound he made as he silently watched and waited.

"They have left."

"Ok."

Peeking out once, William noticed that they have truly left. He swiftly drove the motorcycle to the end of the road before entering the alleyway then head over to the next block.

After a few minutes, William arrived in the garage safely.

"Are these good enough?" William asked.

Rozan nodded. "They're good enough. I'll need to work here and you might want to get a few more for supplies."

"Tell me what do you need."

"Bulletproof metal, spare tires, metal pipes…."

As Rozan listed out everything that he actually needed, William's face turned dark. There were actually so many things that he needed to retrieve.
