A New Beginning

The Ray's of sunlight passed through the purple linen curtain of Kate's room, sluggishly she removed her bedcover from her bed and murmured a 'Thank you Lord ' regaining full consciousness she then realized that she had to join her mum and sister in the kitchen she hastened up, knelt down by her bedside, covered her hair with a medium sized towel and said her morning prayers, while closing her eyes she saw a clear image of her dad in his office wear smiling with a brown envelope in his hands . Quickly she opened her eyes wondering if she was still sleeping or not, she finished her prayers and took her daily devotional book to read...this was her usual morning routine.....she read and studied because it was her guide. Then while she was reading her view changed as she saw her sister Yvonne coming into the room and tripping over her shoes. She concluded that it was either she was dreaming or imagining it all.

Soon after, Yvonne came in ....as soon as Kate saw her she was surprised, Yvonne then tripped over one of Kate's shoes ...Kate was so speechless, she thought she was already having morning fever.

"Kate why are you looking like that , won't you take your shoes that made me trip!" Yvonne exclaimed but Kate was still surprised.

"You are looking like someone that has seen a ghost "anyways come to the kitchen when you are done, Yvonne said and walked out. Kate kept the shoes in the shoe rack,laid the bed, washed her face,brushed her teeth then she quickly joined her sister in the kitchen.

" Mum, Good morning"Kate greeted her mum.

"Ooh Kate how are you? her mum asked.

"I'm fine"Kate replied.

"Go join your sister in making breakfast"her mum said

Kate joined Yvonne who had started with the breakfast already, together they made a light breakfast of toasted bread and scrambled eggs with hot chocolate tea. Yvonne helped to set the table while Kate washed the used dishes. They invited their mum and elder brother Michael to the table and they all ate.

In the evening their father Mr Emmanuel was excited when he came back from work. He was full of smiles while eating the wondering was not left for their mum alone it has spread to the children. After dinner he decided to stop keeping them in suspense , he brought out an envelope with a printed paper from his briefcase and told them that he has been writing promotional exams for the past few years and he has either failed or be denied but to the glory God he has been promoted far higher than those before him .His wife and children congratulated him and Kate noticed that everything happening is similar to everything she saw in the morning. Mr Emmanuel informed that he has been transferred to another branch and they will be moving to another apartment and Kate was happy when she realized she was going to change schools to a boarding school since that is what she has always wanted while Yvonne requested for a new phone and their father said he will do that if she does well in her exams and he bid them goodnight.

While Kate was about to sleep she muttered a prayer of thanks then she slept. She saw herself like a trance in a place that had no light with a lot of people, then a starlike object was shining on her head with a girl that has the same starlike object shining on her head too, then the surroundings changed to a school environment, it was a busy school day, students were busy everywhere, Kate was in her school uniform she was going to a room she shared with other girls when she got to the room she saw a light skinned girl that seemed to be talking to people but the girl could not see her... immediately the girl acted strange as if she could see her , as soon as the girl turned to check who it was Kate woke up. Kate thanked her stars that it was all a dream.

They soon relocated to another part of the city, Kate was called by her father few days later and he informed her that he has found a lovely school for her and he advised her not to worry about anything but that she shouldn't be a good girl that she is, be close to God and make them proud. He also told her to prepare because she will be resuming in a week's time.

In the evening they had a nice family dinner...and a night devotion.Kate asked her father for the name of her school and he said to her "Honeyland High School" . Later that night Yvonne and Kate had some talks and Yvonne told Kate about the stories she have her heard about boarding school and told her that she is child of light and not mingle with people that will make her light deviate. The two sisters prayed together and baded themselves goodnight.....

Kate dreamt about the same girl she saw in her first dream, she saw the girl, herself and some other few girls trying to help some people come out of tight cages. Some were half opened while the rest while tight locked the people in it we're smiling and blindfolded to see that they were in a cage while some knew that could not come out. There was a particular pretty girl she was not inside the cage but forces were pushing her into it and she was gradually going inside it. Then she shouted for help... everything suddenly blanked out.....all of a sudden,Kate saw herself with the first girl in the first dream and it was as though they were discussing then she asked for the girl's name and the girl replied that her name was Rebecca and everywhere blacked out.

Kate woke up......she pondered on the dream of unlocking cages then she heard a voice telling her that this is part of your assignment. Kate was beginning to think she was having hallucinations but she knew was not hallucinations it was something other than that.
