Chapter 12

Two days later, the beautiful lights of Njomon could be seen in the far-off distance. A small knock from Kai's door could be heard as he found himself sitting at a desk within his room.

"Come in," he spoke.

The door opened before shutting quietly as permission was granted.

"Njomon looks amazing at this time of night," a soft voice entered.

Kai found his eyes averting away from his map of the Scarfil Expanse and up to the individual standing before him. Blue, sleek hair braided to reveal her worried face. Her blue eyes darted shyly to the ground.

"Aida," Kai spoke." I wasn't expecting you here, how have things been on the ship?"

"They would be better if you'd come out of this room once in a while."

Her response shocked Kai but was also true. Kai had spent most of their week-long journey locked away. He tried not to look as astonished when he replied.

"Did you know the biggest thing I've been missing up until now was a Booster? This adventure is something I've dreamt of for years, but first I had to manifest this boat's existence for this moment right now. The true beginning of our Journey. We were fortunate that it was at Caecis when it was."

"We were indeed," Aida said in return.

"No matter where I am, I have to fight through every obstacle. So, being confined in here seems to be my best option at focusing to plan out our future as Faerlu."

"Do you enjoy sparring?" Aida asked randomly.

"Of course, but why-,"Kai began to question before being cut off.

"Assuming because I am a woman that I can't fight?"

"No, no-," Kai started.

"I'm kidding. I only ask so that after Portam is finished with some more weapons, I'll know who my sparring partner will be."

"Um, sure. But I warn you, I'm a master at my craft," Kai smirked.

Aida turned to leave, speaking once more.

"Our home will come to you Kai, stop searching the map and let it come to you," with that she left the room.

Kai glanced down to the map, his eyes searching over it for quite a while longer before folding it and returning it to a drawer within his desk.

"It's about time, we will prove them all wrong starting now," he whispered to himself.
