Chapter 3 - Waking up

Izuku was unable to explain the sensation that he was feeling. It was an overwhelming sense of rush that wished to be released. The exhilarating feeling of endlessly running with no direction and only running as far as possible. 

That it would cause the world to seem to slow down the more he thought of running. An infinite amount of distances and distorted his perception of time itself. 

However, his inability to feel the slightest thing to move his body has a numbing sensation. He was calm, letting everything flow like a river that was taught by his master.

Regardless, Izuku knew that he was running aimlessly through the dark veil that appeared nothing but boundless nothingness. 

An unknown amount of time passes until something beside him appears. It was a white streak seemingly racing against him. 

Gradually that light became one with him emanating an infinite amount of energy that resonated with the endless darkness and gathering more energy, the more he ran. 

This power had become part of him and turned Izuku into nothing but a streak of light that moved at an incalculable speed until his eyes were blinded by the light and found himself looking at a nurse who saw him open his eyes.

"Doc! He's awake!"

The nurse screamed, getting the attention of the doctor who was close by and turned to observe Izuku who unexpectedly stood up.

"Young man, how are you feeling?"

"I-I'm fine but what happened?"

The doctor nodded his head before examining Izuku to see any problem in his health and found nothing even though his vitality had greatly improved. 

"You, young man, we're lucky to survive the lightning bolt and even woke up for only 2 months. Normally it takes 8 months."

Izuku gasped in shock, finding that he had been bedridden for 2 months which made him frown thinking about how his mother is doing. He knew that she would immediately go into a panic state when she found out about him.

Strangely, he finds that everything seems to be slowing down, disorienting his senses where everything is unaligned and he clenches his head in pain causing the doctor to call out his name.

It wasn't painful, rather unpleasant to adjust himself where he felt in a drunken state where everything appeared to be slower than they actually are. 

"Young man!?"

"Ah sorry, my mind just feels disoriented."

"Is that so? Don't worry it's normal to feel that way as your body is adjusting itself with your mind. Best to lay down for now."

He nodded laying back on his bed while recalling everything that had happened before arriving at the hospital.

'Hope my workshop wasn't damaged. Hmm?'

Izuku notices his hand trembling to hear a buzzing noise and is shocked to see vibrating at a high speed that made him shake his hand causing the effect to disappear. However, his shock remains trying to calm himself and analyze his situation.

Remember that he was no ordinary kid and was both a super genius and skilled fighter. He tested the phenomenon once more and nothing happened to the first and third try until Izuku concentrated harder than unknowingly making his eyes glow in white. 

It vibrated at tremendous speed inspecting his hand having a hard time describing the sensation.

A few seconds later his hand returned to normal speed, finding that he was unable to fully control this strange phenomenon.

'I have a quirk!? I can't believe it!!'

As calm as he is, Izuku was still affected by the shocking discovery at that moment and recalled how he was announced quirkless and ridiculed by many to be working ahed reaching the heights he was in.  

This made him let out a tearful cry finally having the thing that he desires the most. A quirk to become a hero to save many people. 

After a few minutes of calming himself and trying to find the reason why he managed to acquire a quirk. He made a few theories but the most likely answer is.

'Based on how things are, the only conclusion is the lighting along with particle accelerator and Arc reactor as well as the chemical gave me a quirk. A speed quirk. Though the range and limit are still unclear…'

Izuku unknowingly mumbled everything slightly excited that he had a quirk. If he had super speed then saving people would be a lot quicker and lessen the casualties.

He needed to test his quirk to have better control and feel what the limits are to help him know which part to adjust. Izuku felt proud that he had not let his weakness weigh him down and fixed them by training. 

While he's resting on his bed, Izuku has started experimenting with what the speed quirk is capable of. He knew fat speed can also correlate with the speed of the mind along with perception. 

His mind processes information nearly a hundred times quicker than a normal person by focusing on a specific part of his mind.

Izuku looked at a fly that had become frozen in time until he had a sharp pain that cut his concentration.

'Haaa...as expected It's still unstable, unlike a quirk that has honed through the years.'

Resting for the next hour before his door burst open and saw his mother hurriedly get close while he looked at Itsuka who had tears running down her face. 

"My baby boy, you finally awake! You don't know how worried I've been. How are you feeling? Is there anything wrong!?"

His mother immediately examined him, which caused Izuku to warily smile before trying to calm his mother.

"Mom, Calm down. I am alright promised but there is something that changes."

"C-Change? Izu-san please tell me what changed!?"

Itsuka went closer worried for her crush to have a tragic fate like being paralyzed since he was struck by a lightning and the doctor had already told them that possibility is high along with never waking up. 

She had been having nightmares ever since he fell into a coma afraid that Izuku would die without her telling how she felt about him. 

The moment that they received a call of his waking immediately made her way to the hospital. Itsuka never felt happy in her life knowing how important he was to her and for those 2 months had decided to tell him. 

"I don't know how to tell you this but…"

This made both of their hearts sink, waiting for the next words that he was about to utter and preparing themselves only to be confused when he raised his hands before they were dumbstruck.

"I-Izu-San you...you…."

"Am I dreaming?"

"I've acquired a quirk after the lightning struck."

They were immediately delighted by the news that he gained a quirk from the incident that the doctor had been baffled by examining his body further for the coming examination.

"Your son appears to have a quirk that is related to speed from high-speed healing to moving twice the speed of sound or may higher! Though it appears you need a large quantity of nutrients due to your high speed metabolism."

The doctor excitedly announced as Izuku nodded, finding one of the drawbacks of his quirk. His mother was beside him happy that her son finally had something that he had been dreaming to have. 

"So young man, what do you wish to call your quirk?"

Izuku thought for a moment as he did not want to give it a name simply super speed as it branches out to many things.

"Speed forces. That's what I want to call it."

"Speed forces huh? Alright, I'll be talking to your mother for a moment."

His mother and doctor left, leaving only Izuku and Itsuka alone in the room. She was looking at her crush happy that he had finally got what he dreamt of having. 

"Izu-San, congratulations on finally having a quirk."

"Thank you, with this I can help more people."

"....Izu-San can I ask you a question?"

"What is it?"

She didn't say anything else, stood up to get closer and gave him a quick kiss on the lips, surprising him. Izuku was shocked to even react as Itsuka departed her lips while crying.

"I-I thought I'm never going to be able to say how I feel about you but now I want to say that….I...I love you, Izuku and can you be my boyfriend!?"
