CHAPTER 6

A/N:Exams are finally over! The remaining exams for the semester is on July 17-20, so if I don't update a week before, please understand.

Anyways, boy, am I'm having a blast writing this fic, especially since I'm trying out a new style of writing, Only Using Other Character's POV.

It makes my imagination go overdrive, and that feels amazing!

That's all for this update, I guess. Time to return back to the world of Remnant.

Emerald POV

Men were not born equal.

That was something that an old man she'd seen before said constantly when they were hiding from the rain with cardboard, that was a long, long time ago.

She had honestly thought that she was doomed, having to steal, lie, deceit, help local gangs, for the rest of her life.

There were even "places" that invited her to be their... worker. She'd rather off herself than to be a prostitute. She has seen what happened to them before. Not a pretty story.

She thought it was her fate, her destiny to be a simple thief with a useful Semblance.

That was when HE came to save her.

-

It was raining that day. A sad rainy day.

She was walking around with her trusty switchblade, something that she managed to cough up from all the stealing that she'd done, blending in with the crowd to find her next target.

Usually, she aims for those who had no guard, or rich people. Those were the easiest to steal from. She had to learn the hard way not to keep her head up in the afternoon in fear of Huntsmen patrolling around, but since it was raining, her chances were much higher.

Today, however, she was hungry. She had been starving for over two days now, and her stomach was growling at the thought of filling itself. That was a luxury that she would never experience.

So, her target today was a fruit vendor, one that had always been her usual targets when she was hungry. Using her Semblance, she'd stolen from him about 8 times already.

Taking a deep breath, she concentrated on her mystical energy in her body. Aura, one of the gang members that she frequently helped told her about it, the manifestation of the soul.

It had its practical uses. Its force field properties make her immune to any damage as long as she had Aura, and it has some offensive properties, making it a very useful tool for her.

It was honestly depressing, a Semblance was usually the window to the soul of the user. For her to have an illusion-based Semblance speaks volume of her character.

She was a thief, through and through.

Focusing on the middle-aged man, she sculpted the illusion that she was about to inflict. Making her seem invisible to him. Making one of the closer apples disappear. Making him vision a little blurry on the left. It was a perfect illusion.

Creeping up to the stall, she held her breath as she slowly takes the apple, looking around to avoid anyone stopping her.

She grabbed the apple, and pulled it away carefully, making sure to not accidentally move the surrounding apples and fruits.

It was flawless. She had got the apple. She could finally eat something today —

BUMP!

THUD!

Someone bumped into her, causing her to fall to the ground. The shock caused her to stop concentrating her Aura, with the pain of falling canceling the Semblance.

The vendor's eyes straightened up before his face shifted into anger.

"You!"

He yelled as he got out a thick wooden stick before immediately walking towards her. She scrambled, trying to get up and run away but then suddenly a hand shot out and grabbed her collar from behind.

POW!

And then pain came.

She yelled in pain as she got dropped from the ground. The fucker hit her in the head! Her vision doubles as she instinctively got into a fetal position as the vendor starts beating her up.

"You bloody pests! Do you know how much profit I lost because of you scum?!"

He roared out as he released his frustrations, hitting and kicking her at all places.

"S-Stop!"

She tried to plead, but he answered with a hit in the cheek.

"Shut up! I'm doing Vale a business by getting rid of another pest!"

She looked around, trying to find help, but the passerby just walked past them as if they were insects. Hell, some even grabbed out their Scrolls and started recording them.

She felt something wet flowing, and the scent of iron hits her nose.

... She was going to die. That was the truth. Her head was bleeding from the pain, and she had no more energy to even summon her Aura up to protect herself.

Fate has decided that she was about to die. It was her destiny —

"Stop."

The beating stopped for a moment, letting her breath in peace as her body felt numb. Her eyes looked up to reveal a boy with an umbrella holding onto groceries in a paper bag.

"She's already hurt, so just let her go."

"What? Because of this... freak, I lost over 3000 Lien! These bastards deserve to die like the fucking pests they are — "

Fear suddenly exploded from the boy, causing both her and the vendor to stop at their spots.

"Are you alright?"

The boy bent down with his umbrella, covering her from the rain. Her eyes wandered to his face. He looked so concerned, with a hint of anger hiding behind in his onyx black eyes. She could see that the boy was holding his anger back, from the tight grip on his umbrella and his jaw tensed.

Thieving and helping gang members killing at least improved her observation skills to be able to see that.

She tried to answer back, maybe even mock him for looking down on her, but before she could, everything went black, and she fell unconscious on the floor.

-

Waking up on a bed, she took a moment to absorb her surroundings before she tried to sit up as quietly as possible. She had encountered something like this before, kidnapping girls were the norm in the slums, but before she could fully get up, she flinched at the pain on her head.

Groaning softly, she put her hand on her head to notice bandages wrapped over her head. Checking her body, she just stared in shock. Her wounds were gone. Even some scars from her past jobs had disappeared. And she was wrapped in a blanket. A blanket. It felt... warm.

Looking around her, she sees that she was in a room with stairs at the side. There were tons of coffee bean sacks on a cabinet near the stairs, and a TV directly next to the cabinet, with a sofa nearby. Next to her bed was a table filled with tools and tons of red cards?

Her observations were cut short when she heard footsteps on the stairs, causing her to quickly lay on the bed, tense for anything that was about to happen.

The footsteps were louder by the second as someone got closer and closer to the bed, until he was close enough for her to attack. She sprung into action, with a fist clenched, threw a punch at the boy from earlier —

Wait, the boy from earlier?

Her eyes widened as her shock turned to confusion. She tried to stop the attack, but it had already been swung, causing her to panic.

But before the punch hit his face, he easily dodged the attack by ducking before grabbing her wrist. That sudden stop caused her footing on the bed to be unbalanced as she started to fall.

But the boy simply grabbed her waist to steady herself. Now just a few inches apart, her cheek burnt as she could finally have a better look at the boy. Compared to every man that she has met, this one takes the cake for most handsome. His curly black hair, his eyes that seem to see her soul, his defined jawline, Gods, he was hot.

"Are you alright?"

His voice rang, causing her to snap out of it as she just nodded.

"Good. [Diarama] did its job perfectly, but one more just in case."

Diarama? What is a Diarama —

Suddenly blue flames sprouted from his face as she jumped back in shock. While still holding onto her wrist, he mutters.

"[Diarama]."

As soon as he muttered those words, a green glow suddenly emitted from her as the pain on her head disappears in an instant.

With her widened eyes, she stared at the boy as he lets go of her wrist. He healed her, in an instant. That was a powerful Semblance.

She sat back down on the bed, and tried to say something, but the words just wouldn't come out. The boy notices this, prompting him to sit at the side of the bed.

"You're safe here. Don't worry anymore."

A second passed. Two seconds passed. Three seconds passed. Four —

Her eyes started tearing up. She had never heard someone say that with so much concern, she had never felt so warm before.

Before long, she started balling her eyes out, crying as she hugged on the boy like a lifeline, tears falling.

She was safe.

She was safe.

-

It had been almost a year after that when she was requested by Rin to join him, to be the Phantom Thieves. He promised her that she could always decline his offer at anytime and asked her to think about it.

She agreed to it instantly.

He was her savior, her light in the dark. She would do anything for him. Even go to the depths of hell for him.

Anything, for him. For he had dragged her back into the light. For he had breaked her destiny.

??? POV

"Wait!"

Futaba — Oracle yelled as the group stopped in their tracks. The group looked at her, who was in her Persona, Necronomicon.

"What going on, Oracle?"

"Yeah, what gives? The treasure room is just up ahead!"

Queen and Skull asked as they could hear Oracle tapping on something, with multiple beeps coming from the persona before she answered.

"... We're not alone!"

She yelled as a hologram appeared in front of them, showing the map of the current palace. From the map, the Phantom Thieves were green, just a room before the treasure, with a blue dot coming from right behind them a few rooms back, causing them to stare in shock.

"W-What?!" (Panther)

"But how?" (Noir)

"Another Persona User..." (Kitagawa)

"Maybe it's the Black Mask guy that Madarame talked about?" (Ryuji)

Everyone looked at Joker as Mona asked.

"We don't have any information at all about this. What do you think, Joker? Retreat, Confront, or Wait It Out?"

Joker stares at the blue dot that was coming closer and closer to them before telling his answer.

"Wait It Out. Hide in the shadows and wait for him, then when his guard is down, we pounce."

He ordered as they nodded before they disappeared into the shadows like a phantom.
