37 Chapter 36

*DING!*

The sound of metal hitting metal rang out in the silent night. Reid's eyes widened as he looked at what was the cause of the sound.

His sword which he was sure he would end the fight with stopped a few inches from the man's neck, held back by the man's forearm.

The blade cut into the gloves revealing metal plates beneath it around his hands.

"Thank goodness I decided to take these with me. It would have been a mess if that happened." He said, letting out a chuckle.

Just before he could flash step away he received a vicious kick to the stomach, sending him flying back.

'Fast!' He thought as air was kicked out of his system. He landed violently on his back but quickly got up to continue the fight.

He looked towards the figure but didn't see him there. Before he could get confused, [Area Sense] alerted him to his position. He flash stepped away just as the cleaver smashed into his previous position.

Not pausing, the man rushed towards Reid who observed him carefully with his sharingan. He just barely dodged a slash to his neck when the man smashed his knee into him.

He grunted in pain as he thrust his blade toward the offending knee. He managed to nick the thigh a bit before it was pulled back.

'He's too fast. I can see him but my body can't react. I can't take too many hits like that or I'm done for. On top of that, I only managed to scratch him a bit…' He thought, looking at the small scratch he made on his opponent's thigh. It cut through the clothes but it just made a small cut on his thigh.

'A cut that size won't do anything. I need a way to limit his speed and mobility but how.' He thought as the man leaped towards him, thrusting the cleaver towards him. He managed to dodge it but it made a small cut on his cheek.

'What do I do!?' He thought as he clenched his teeth.

He quickly retaliated with a slash of his sword but it was blocked. That didn't stop him as he continued his attempts but they were all blocked by the large cleaver.

Reid jumped back to give himself space before flash stepping back in. As he reached the man, he swung the sword full force. The man brought the cleaver forward to block it only for his opponent to disappear.

Reid flash stepped and appeared behind him, still in the slashing position. The man turned and blocked the strike with his metallic gloves only for Reid to disappear again.

He appeared to his left and struck quickly before flashing to his other side and striking again. Reid became a blur of black and silver as he appeared and disappeared around his opponent, slashing furiously.

Most of them were blocked but a few managed to slip in, leaving numerous cuts all over but nothing fatal.

'He's slowing down!' He noticed and continued his barrage. The man was now bleeding all over. None of the cuts were lethal but the number of cuts and the amount of blood lost were enough to trouble him.

Finally Reid found an opening and he went for it. He stepped under the arm that tried to smash him away and thrust the blade forward.

'It's over!' He screamed internally as the blade went through the man easily…too easily. He found himself running right through him…literally.

"What!?" He exclaimed in shock as both he and his sword went through him as if he wasn't even there.

He stumbled a bit and fell to the ground as he now lay behind the man. The man let out a mad grin as he chuckled.

"You're good kid but did you think it would be that easy." He asked, looking amused.

'He can turn intangible!? That's why he never looked bothered. He knew he could dodge it if he wanted.' Reid thought in disbelief.

"Most people would be begging for their life right about now but you still look like you want to go again. You're strong for your age and that's exactly why you must die." He said as he tightened his grip on his weapon.

'I'm screwed.' He thought as the man stalked towards him. The continuous use of his sharingan his constant use of [Flash Step] and [Aura Flow] drained him a lot. If not for the minor passive aura regeneration he had, he would have run out of aura a long time ago.

Just as the cleaver made its way down, a wall of black flames erupted around Reid. He stopped halfway looking at Reid in slight amusement and spoke but Reid wasn't even paying attention.

"Is this another attempt to fight? Interesting!" He screamed in deranged amusement but didn't attack.

'Amaterasu!? But how?' Reid thought in shock. His questions were answered as a blur that neither he nor his attacker could follow, kicked the man away with tremendous power.

The man was sent flying and smashed his back into a tree. Reid looked at the blur who had now stood still.

"Mom!?" He asked in shock. Miko stood there with a look of rage on her face as she glared murderously at the man.

The man now picked himself up and got a clear look at the newcomer.

"A newcomer. Let's hope you entertain me properly!" He screamed as he rushed forward.

"How dare you!?" Miko said, her tone downright murderous as she too rushed forward.

She easily dodged his slash and smashed the back of her knuckles into his face, causing saliva to fly from his mouth. Not wasting any time, she let loose a kick to his sternum, knocking him back again.

She followed with a knee to his chest but she went right through him. The man showed a grin at that.

"Be careful mom! He can-" He tried to warn her but the next scene shut him up. Her sharingan spun and black flames appeared on his legs causing him to scream in pain.

'What's going on…?' Reid struggled to comprehend what just happened and it seemed he wasn't the only one.

"H-how!?" He struggled to speak through the pain.

"You think your petty semblance can save you? Pathetic!" She proclaimed as she smashed her foot across his face and into the ground, causing webbed cracks to form.

"You dare to enter my village and attack my son! For that you must die!" She announced as her eyes opened wide and her aura pulsed.

"Amaterasu!"

"AHHHHHHH!!!"

The man screamed in pain as he was engulfed in the devilish black flames. She stood and watched with cold eyes as the man screamed in pain but the intensity of the flames only seems to increase.
