Chapter 223: RWBY Prime—Hero from Another World (9)

~Jack POV~

Letting Glynda Goodwitch lead me ahead to where the CCT is located at I took care of any Grimm in the nearby area using my Silver Eyes to get the job done a lot quicker than I would like.

*Shiii*

Glynda was merely impressed with my Silver Eyes looking at them with a hint of envy of me using them but shook her head away.

I don't exactly blame her either.

They are literally instant kill monsters on sight but on humans not worth much probably just blind them with the flashy light show.

Continuing on our way Glynda was the first to start up a conversation when we were alone finally speaking up, "Tell me, young man… do you happen to know where you originated from? Or are you a relative to Ruby?"

Shaking my head I responded to her as we continue on our path of the ruined Beacon Academy CCT controls, "No. I guess you could say I just learned how to use them a while back not caring much. But no… I guess it would be more accurate to say my Semblance copied down Ruby's own skill."

Glynda's eyes widen at the information I gave as I shrug.

At this, she laughs bitterly as she wonders about her own predicament of not existing in their original world, "Hahaha… oh the irony. When you existed in your own Remnant everything seems to go your way, but we don't have someone like you. Makes me wonder if you existed here, I can't help but wonder 'what if' you were here? Would our situation have changed or not during the Fall…"

I remained silent at that…

Honestly, even if I were here, I would still let things plan out as they have.

Even if I tried to stop them it wouldn't do any good no matter what I did.

Hell, I tried to see if I could avoid it in the beginning and yet there are some factors out there, I haven't considered that the Fall of Beacon in my world still happened.

I'm not all-knowing.

Nor am I that strong to prevent it.

I'm merely just a powerful human doing all he can to help or not.

Shaking my head responding to Glynda about whether my being here made a difference or not I still responded, "I don't think I could've been that much of a factor. In the end, the Fall of Beacon still happened in our version. Nothing we did could've stopped that from happening so all I did was help and kill any Grimm that I could do before my exhaustion caught up to me. Maybe with fewer lives lost or not I don't know but what I do know is this event would be inevitable."

Glynda seems to take my words to her head even if I did anything I wouldn't have done much.

No matter what I did the end result will be the same.

People died, and I wasn't enough to stop it.

That alone is my mistake thinking for taking this lightly despite the countermeasures I had in place for each plan or scenario to occur thinking I was enough.

And guess what?

It wasn't enough.

I completely underestimated Salem and played around thinking this event was needed for the change of people.

Heh.

Change…

There was change alright but it wasn't the people who needed it.

It was me that needed to change.

Because of my arrogant and narrow-minded thinking of my abilities and powers of 'oh I have the gamer powers I'm going to be OP and stop everything in my way.'

Tch.

Talk about fucking understatement of the century.

I took people's lives for granted at the memorial Glynda served for the students, families, and everyone else for granted thinking I could do something about it.

And something I did as I fucking did nothing.

Seeing how many people died and the fact of names I don't recognize being shown for their bravery could've not erupted to begin with if only I told anyone in a position of power of the incoming attack.

Would it have changed anything?

Maybe… but that's wishful thinking because if I did then they would try to do things differently to save people, but I didn't because my own knowledge would help me counter Salem's plans.

Yet the end result is still the same with people dying.

I know it's naïve thinking I could try to save everyone but…

Sigh…

Sighing out loud feeling depressed Pyrrha wasn't wrong when I felt depressed doing nothing for the last few days as I was trying to handle my emotions and the scorns, I would receive from the families that listened to my words fighting for the Kingdom.

That's my burden to bear for that selfish mistake.

And sometimes rethinking everything again helps me clear out some of those thoughts.

Heh.

Times like these make me wish I have those so-called <Gamer's Mind> to help me keep my mental state up but also at times I don't want it because I need to feel this guilt as it was my decisions that lead to their death.

It makes me wonder how Ozma makes these kinds of choices with his thousand years of lifetimes worth of experience would have made a different action than my own.

Maybe comparing my plan to his mind might not be the best example but at the very least his more experience in warfare than I was during the Battle of Beacon kind of makes me envy his lasting years honestly.

Unfortunately, I don't know if these kinds of situations beforehand or not I'm the more choose it now than later kind of guy.

Maybe…

Maybe when I have the materials I would – no.

No.

Shaking my head at the idea of using Ascalon to rewrite the deaths of those students that fought hard would've meant their deaths mean nothing.

It might relieve my own worry and self-doubts, but I fucking draw the line if it means I can bring back the dead just because I feel sad for them.

If I did that for them and do it for everyone people will lose the importance of life I won't do it for just strangers but if I loved one's are dead… I would do it in a heartbeat.

Argh?!!

This is seriously a moral dilemma for me to choose in the end –

"We're here."

Stopping my internal ranting inside my own head I turned my eyes to the destroyed CCT gazing at the pieces as I check inside examining the contents plus using <Mechanical King> skill to get the blueprints needed and what parts should go where.

Hmm…

Examining the info, I got from the CCT along with some modifications I could do with it adding the fact using <Super Speed> along with <Shadow Clones>.

The beginning of the work process with <Technopathy> and random machine pieces lying on the floor from what I assume to be the dead missing robot parts that came from Atlas along with my personalized tool Capsule…

Yeah…

Yeah, maybe a little work here and an Arc Reactor to have a stable energy source as Beacon Academy Dust source is down with the Atlas Embargo and a hint of reworking the wiring around –

That was when Glynda began to talk to me wondering what the hell I'm doing as she spoke to me in a concerned voice, "So… is it possible to repair the CCT to how it was in a couple of days or months perhaps?"

Holding out exactly 8 fingers to Glynda as I began to prepare my <Shadow Clones> coming out securing a perimeter shocking her, "8 hours or less I assume. With the lying robot parts that Atlas left behind along with some of the CCT pieces lying around and some heading way back to Vale to collect a few pieces… yeah 8 hours or less to get this down. Maybe 9 if I can modify it without the use of Dust as its power source for the time being."

Gazing my eyes at Glynda's shocked one she began to work out quite surprised by the info I gave to her with hope glinting in her eyes, "9—8 hours! If you need any resources available, then take any or all you need to fix the CCT up! I'll hold full responsibility if you can get it done faster hopefully the people will understand."

Smirking at her I agreed with a nod as my clones and I threw out our Tool Capsules surprising Glynda to see them.

*Swoosh*

*Swoosh*

*Pop*

*Pop*

Seeing them released with our very custom-made, tools needed for a specific purpose along with some of our standard and extra spare parts with all of us looking at each other with a nodding understanding of what must be done.

Ordering my clones as they all began to get ready while I use my Power Ring to construct some incredible tools for quick repairs right away, "Alright boys you know what to do. Time to fix us a tower with operation fixing Remnant United and Great again!"

"Yes, Boss!"

Agreeing right away and getting the go-ahead from Glynda we all began to make short work on making this CCT reusable and be able to get a better grasp of the situation at hand of what was going on.

I don't know why but I feel…

Something big is going to happen if I don't hurry up fixing this CCT soon…

I just hope I can make that unease go away once it's repaired.

But I know usually trouble comes after me and I do have to take care of Salem in the process.

She can wait until I get everything back in order here in Vale first before storming off against an immortal.

Unlike before when I caught my Salem, I'm not exactly too picky throwing my problems with nukes at her again just not in populated areas where lives really mattered.

Anyway, I just need to keep working.

~Third POV~

A large crowd of people has gathered inside a small auditorium for Robyn's victory party. Wires have been taped up along the walls, and there are Robyn Hill campaign posters decorating the walls.

Above the stage is a giant hologram screen showing the live election results. Jacques has 36% of the vote, while Robyn has 64%. A pair of camera drones float around the room, one of which has a "Kick Me" sign taped to the back of it and the other of which has a gift ribbon stuck to it.

While Ruby, Nora, and Ren enter the building, the vote percentage shifts to 37% for Jacques and 63% for Robyn. Penny makes her way through the crowd and sees her friends, "Ruby, Nora, Ren! I am so glad you made it. It's just Marrow and me tonight, so more friends means more fun. Where are the others?"

Ruby then began to explain to Penny that Weiss is with the boys, Yang and Blake are together dancing, and Ren and Nora are fighting with each other.

Nora and Ren are still in a bad mood as they continue talking while Penny gets communications from Marrow through her earpiece.

Penny starts to leave, and Ruby clings to her arm in a panic, "Please don't leave me."

Ruby and Penny go backstage together to meet up with Marrow surprised to see her, "Oh hey, what—what're you doing here?"

Ruby tries to explain to Marrow she's using her day off to hang out, "Just, uh, hangin' out with a friend while she's on the job."

Ruby casually holds out her fist for a fist bump. Recognizing the gesture, Penny gasps, her eyes wide and shining with excitement. She makes a fist, closes one eye, sticks her tongue out, and lines it up.

She pulls back her fist and then slams it into Ruby's with a big smile. There's a dull "ding" noise, and Ruby gains an expression of deadpan shock, her hand throbbing with pain. Penny turns to Marrow with an innocent smile, and Ruby cradles her hand, groaning quietly in pain.

Marrow then begins to talk to Penny and Ruby about being vigilant tonight, "Yeah, real cute. Look, try not to be too much of a distraction. We need to be vigilant in case—"

May Marigold suddenly approaches Marrow, setting the tip of her weapon to the floor as the two talks and not too long soon Robyn suddenly entered the backstage area next to Ruby and Penny.

Robyn notices Ruby giving her a pipsqueak remark that Ruby gives a slight glare, growling a little as Marrow scoffs getting their attention, "We're concerned about security risks, ma'am. The General doesn't want any surprises tonight."

May smirks in amusement. Joanna Greenleaf is now standing next to her. Robyn walks over to Marrow responding, "Fine, but stay out of the way."

She then walks over to stand with May and Joanna, the former of whom gasps in surprise and confusion talking to them, "If I get elected tonight, we'll all have to learn how to get along."

Behind them on the stage, Fiona Thyme is fidgeting with a microphone. Joanna is grinning. Robyn looks at Joanna and smirks, causing Joanna to grin more.

Fiona taps on the microphone, causing audible feedback, much to the crowd's displeasure as she speaks, "Ha-ha, well, that worked."

The live election results now show that Robyn's vote percentage is 57%. Joanna walks away, and Marrow groans in annoyance and walks away toward Penny and Ruby. The crowd begins chanting Robyn's name.

"Robyn!"

"Robyn!"

"Robyn!"

"Robyn!"

Marrow exits the backstage area, and Ruby hops out and blows a raspberry at him, which Penny giggles at. Ruby and Penny wave to each other, as Ruby walks away into the crowd. Ruby's smile fades when she sees that Nora and Ren are still arguing.

The live election results now say that Jacques has 41% of the vote, while Robyn has 59%.

Just as Ren and Nora are fighting with each other slowly becomes a heated conversation making Ruby regret not going to the movies with Weiss and the boys.

Ruby turns back around and heads to the front of the crowd. Fiona has begun giving a speech, and the live election results show Jacques now has 43% of the votes, "I want to thank everyone for going to the polls today. This is Mantle's moment. I know that, like me, you're all thrilled that we chose Robyn as our voice in Atlas. No one has fought harder for Mantle than she has. And…"

She covers her mouth, trying not to cry, and then wipes a tear from her eye with her palm as she continues, "I know Robyn will continue that fight on the Council. Will you share a few words?"

She turns to look at Robyn, who is off-stage, and the crowd begins chanting Robyn's name again. Robyn walks onto the stage, causing the crowd to cheer.

The live election results show Jacques has 45% of the votes and Robyn has 55%.

She takes the microphone, and Fiona excitedly talks to her for a few moments, before walking off stage as Robyn begins to make her speech, "I've never been much for public speaking, probably wasn't my best idea ever to go into politics. Thank you so much, everyone, for choosing me. You said you believe in me. But I'm the one who believes in all of you. You've proven to me that as individuals, we are strong. But together, we're unstoppable. So, no matter what happens tonight, win or lose, we will continue to fight for our city, because it is this city that brings us together!"

The live results shift to Jacques with 46% and Robyn with 54% as the crowd cheers and upbeat music begins playing. Nora reaches out to touch Ren's arm, but he turns away from her.

Robyn walks off stage, smiling and waving to the crowd. She turns her head away from the crowd and looks nervously up at the screen listening to the Newscaster, "We're in the final minutes now, and it's looking to be a closer race than anticipated."

Robyn stands with her Happy Huntresses with Joanna supporting her in a confident tone reassuring Robyn, "Don't worry, it's in the bag."

Joanna smiles, and May grins, winks, and gives a thumbs up. Robyn smiles faintly but then looks nervously at the screen again. The results change again, showing Jacques with 47% and Robyn with 53%.

She looks away, frowning just as Ren is avoiding looking at Nora, who finally speaks up about their issues they have but not before long Nora grabs Ren's shirt and pulls him to her, planting a kiss on his lips.

His eyes widen and he holds his arms out in surprise, but then he closes his eyes and kisses back. As he wraps his arms around her, she moves her arms behind his neck. Everything around them fades into a blur. Ruby looks around happily. Penny and Marrow look at each other.

Somewhere else, in a room filled with Schnee Dust Company crates, Arthur Watts is watching live drone footage of the party on a screen projected from his Scroll. Next to the live drone feed is a recorded video of Penny fighting Sabyrs in the streets of Mantle.

In the windows behind the live and recorded footage, there is a Mantle election map and the live election results screen with the numbers erased. Watts taps the screens of an array of Scrolls laid out in front of them, and the screens light up.

He adjusts one of his rings, and all eight of them light up. He strikes a pose with his hands in the air speaking to Tyrian through the video feeds, "You ready, Tyrian?"
