A Clutch Moment

Making use of this distraction James tried to sneak up behind the demonic hybrid. It was clear that Francis started to have difficulties now that the focus of the demonic hybrid was upon him. James had to quicken his phase if he wanted to achieve his goal.

Taking a few steps forwards, the tail of the hybrid swung towards him. Scared that he was discovered, he took a step back again trying to avoid the tail. Barely avoiding the tail, James though, "Was I too careless? Did it discover me?" Looking around again, James saw multiple warriors trying to approach the demonic hybrid. Taking a closer look at the hybrid James noticed that the the swing of its tail was just randomly done, to keep the surrounding people at bay.

The tail is now an obstacle that he had to avoid in order to get close. Observing the tail, James noticed that the tail swung back and forth every 4 to 5 breaths. If he timed it correctly, it would be clutch for him to make it to the beast. Yet looking at the surrounding situation and the difficulty that Francis was in, James had no other choice. He had one chance to get it right, if he wasted it, Francis would be in a lot of trouble.

Counting the breaths James was about to launch himself forward. Taking the first step, he stopped abruptly, as he barely noticed the tail swinging back. Avoiding the tale just by a few inches, James avoided getting hit by the quick moving tail.

This time James tried to concentrate, counting the breaths with more care. The trajectory of the tail started to become slower in his eyes. Forgetting about his surroundings, all James could think about was the movement of the tail. For some reason, in his eyes, the tail was moving in slow motion. Just then James noticed something unexpected. A path, that was clear to him. Timing his movements with the path, James launched himself towards the opening.

Step by step he was getting closer to the demonic hybrid. Without looking, James could feel the tail moving towards him. It would be a narrow window, yet James was sure that he would make it in time. Just a few inches removed, James took a bold action and jumped towards the back of the demonic hybrid, not knowing that he would hit.

As he jumped, James could feel the breeze of the tail passing beneath his foot. Having barely avoided the tail, James was not in air flying towards the demonic hybrid. It was clear that the hybrid was too occupied with Francis, as it was not reacting to what James did.

As James landed on the back of the demonic hybrid, the hybrid finally reacted to this. Not expecting that something like this would happen, the demonic hybrid started to scream angrily, as it was shacking intensely. Holding firmly on the hair on the back of the beast, James had difficulty maintaining his grip.

However, James pushed his body to its limits not willing to give up. Slowly removing one hand from the hairs, he tried to unsheathe his sword. Grabbing the hilt of his sword, He pulled as fast as possible taking unsheathing his sword. It was time now to push his sword in to the demonic hybrid.

Grabbing his moment, James lunched the sword at the back of the demonic hybrid. The screech of the hybrid was immense, and could be heard from all over the wall. Even the other hybrids looked over to where their brethren were. Yet it was already too late. Pulling the sword again, James lunched the sword to the back of the hybrids head. As the sword slowly sank in, the struggle of the hybrid became less intense until it died down.

James succeeded, he was able to stop one of the demonic hybrids together with Francis' help. That small window of opportunity was enough for James to finish up his job. He ones again stood victorious above the beasts.
