Rising of the Bow hero

What if in the rising of the shield hero, the bow hero wasn't a total douche?? That would be cool I think. And that's what this story is!!!

Chapter 6

The two left the castle and returned to the inn. Jax took off his cloak and gave it to Olivia to use so she wouldn't be seen.

When they finally got back there was a pounding on the door. "It's Mald! Sir hero! We need to go hunting! We can't fall behind the other heroes! I heard one of them is level 6!"

Olivia looked down. "But you're level 12?"

Jax yawned. "I told you, I ain't slept in 24 hours."

Jax then turned to the door. "It's only 9:00 a.m.! I'll go later! I need my beauty sleep! How else will I keep my skin looking this good?" Jax winked at Olivia when he said the last line.

She rolled her eyes and giggled.

"You can have the bed. I'll sleep on the floor." Jax said as he snuggled up to the cozy, cold, hard wood without even a pillow.

"It's fine. You can ha-" Olivia was cut off by Jax's snoring.

She giggled again. "Goodnight."

She crawled into her own bed and passed out herself. For the first time in years she was able to have a peaceful sleep.

Hours later.

The two were awoken by a loud banging on the door.

"Sir hero! We need to go hunting!" Mald called out from the other side of the door.

"Shut it!" A voice sounded as a loud thud sounded on the door.

Olivia lay back down after yelling and realised she was missing a pillow.

She looked at Jax on the floor with cute eyes. "Could you be a dear and pass me back my pillow, sir hero?"

Jax groaned and rolled over. He grabbed the pillow and threw it back at Olivia's face. "Come back later!" He yelled before you could hear him snoring a second later.

Mald was on the other side of the door, baffled. "Was that a girl?" He asked out loud.

The other bow hero 'party members' nodded.

"That bastard! Is that all he's doing??" Mald muttered angrily.

The group walked away from the room, leaving Jax and Olivia alone once again.

By the time it was nightfall Jax arose from his slumber while yawning and stretching. He noticed Olivia was still asleep and walked downstairs to buy some food. He grabbed the two shares he bought and brought them both back up to his room.

He ate one in silence and left the other one on the table. He finished his food and lightly shook Olivia awake.

"Uhhhh. Fuck off. You're whip barely even stings." Olivia mumbled in her slumber.

Jax mentally praised her fortitude. He knew how much a whip hurt and it was a lot.

Eventually Jax was able to get Olivia awake.

"There's food on the table for you and you can wash yourself in the bath over there. I'll be back in the morning."

Jax started walking away when he was stopped by Olivia grabbing his arm. "Where are you going?"

Jax turned to face her. "I'm going to do a few things then go hunting."

"Aren't I in your party? Are you going without me?"

Jax looked her up and down. "You've been malnourished and dehydrated for a long time. You're not allowed out of here for at least a week. I left some money in the top drawer over there. If you want to go get food it's downstairs. You can use the cloak I gave you if you want to stay hidden, I'll go buy another one for myself. Eat as much as you want, don't worry about the price. All you are going to do for the next week is sleep and eat."

Jax started walking away again, leaving Olivia dumbfounded. He stopped at the entrance of the door. "Oh and if those guys come asking for me again just throw the pillow at the door again until they get lost or something. Or just tell them I'm sleeping. See ya!"

Jax left Olivia in the room stunned. "When did I ever throw the pillow at the door?"

She shrugged and got up to eat. She started out eating civilly but the moment she swallowed her first bite a tear streaked down her cheek. "It's so good!"

She instantly scarfed down the rest of the meal before wiping the leftovers off her face. Her eyes lit up as she ran out of the room with the cloak on to get more food. She also bought a whole barrel of water to bring back to the room. Everyone in the inn was a little confused but they were starting to get used to the person in the green cloak doing weird things…

Anyway! Jax decided to visit the church of the three heroes. He was welcomed graciously and was allowed to see the dragon hourglass. He was even allowed to receive some holy water to cure curses and illness and the recipes to make many potions meant for healing or recovery.

Jax thanked the priest and left with his new potions and knowledge. He went to any book stores across the town and bought any books he found on making and enchanting equipment as well as beginners guides to magic.

He still had a decent amount of money but that really did take a lot out of his account. Especially considering he couldn't even read!

Jax stored all of the loot in his bow and went out hunting. He took a similar approach to last time only he was less cautious of the forest due to his growth. He even took down some higher level monsters in his quest for exp. However, Jax also spent a bunch of time collecting materials that he could use to make potions and other things. He also fed everything he found to upgrade his bow as much as possible.

By the time the sun was up he had already snuck back into the city. He was wearing a new blue cloak this time as he had given his green one to Olivia.

Jax's level was now 16 and he could see that Olivia was level 18. It seems the experience sharing really did work even if only one person was fighting.

Jax returned to the inn as he yawned. "Honey, I'm home!"

Olivia groaned from the bed and threw a pillow at Jax. It hit him in the face and knocked him over.

"Ow." He said.

Olivia groaned. "Sir Heroooo. Can I please have my pillow back?"

Jax sighed and threw the pillow to her.

"Wake me up in 3 hours." Jax said before hitting the floor and instantly snoring.
