Rising of the Bow hero

What if in the rising of the shield hero, the bow hero wasn't a total douche?? That would be cool I think. And that's what this story is!!!

Chapter 5

Just then, the figure on the floor yawned and stretched.

"Are you here to torture me again? Can't you at least let me get my beauty sleep? How else am I supposed to keep my skin so smooth in this damn dungeon? Why don't you just give one of the other bastards in here a chance today?" A beautiful voice moaned in annoyance from the cell.

"Pfft. Hahaha!" Jax laughed at the lady behind the bars.

The woman clicked her tongue and rolled over in compliance, holding her hands above her head as if to allow someone to take her away with ease.

"Oh? Are you a newbie? Did the other bastards get tired of me or is this your initiation?" The girl said sarcastically.

Jax ignored her. "Say, if you've been tortured so much, where are all your scars?" He asked curiously.

The girl 'gasped' in shock. "How could you ask a lady for her secrets! Such a rude question! And from a mere rookie guard at that!"

Jax chuckled and shone the light further inside. "Well you look like a toothpick so you're definitely being starved." He shone it even further to get a better look at her.

She had beautiful blue eyes that instantly caught Jax's attention. He could see their vibrance from where he was standing. She also had dirty and shriveled hair from her stay in the dungeon, however if you looked past the dirt it was a beautiful blonde colour.

"Your lips are also cracked. Looks like you don't get much water down here either." He stomped his feet on the ground and made another splash. "Unless you drink this."

The woman glared at him. "Let's just get this over with."

Jax hummed in thought. "What's your level?"

The woman looked dumbfounded. "What?"

"Level. What is it?"

The woman sighed. She had long learned to just entertain whatever dumb questions her captors had asked. "14."

Jax smiled and held out his hand as far as he could through the bars. "I'm Jax, nice to meet cha."

She rolled her eyes. "Olivia." She said as she shook his hand.

"Can you fight?" Jax asked again.

"Why?" Olivia replied.

Jax shrugged. "Curious. Plus, it looks like you can."

Olivia huffed. "I used to swing a sword around. I could use a little magic too."

Jax nodded. "Want to save the world?"

"No." Olivia said, uninterested.

Jax chuckled. "Me too! But, why don't you?"

Olivia glared at him. "Why would I want to save the bastards that took everything from me and treat me like dirt?"

Jax shrugged. "I don't know. You tell me. You're the one who wants to save the world."

"I DON'T!" Olivia yelled as she lunged at Jax, her voice sounded akin to a growl as her eyes glowed blue.

Two tiny horns that Jax couldn't see before protruded from the top of her head through her hair. He only noticed them now to their glowing blue hue. Jax took a step back as Olivia ripped the chains off her wrists and collided with the iron bars denting them outward.

Jax looked at her in awe. "I knew I was right. Those chains are useless!"

Then he walked closer to her, fascinated by her horns.

She continued to glare at him and if looks could kill, Jax would be on his third life by now.

"Get the fuck out of here. Go call your boss or whatever. He's got that special magic to stop me." Olivia growled as she went to lie back down.

Jax sat by the dented bars. "Hmm. I think you're misunderstanding something. I don't have a boss… I don't even work here."

Olivia turned her head to look back at Jax. "What the fuck are you doing here then?"

Jax looked at her horns once again. "Ah? I broke in. Anyway, mind if I ask about those? They look really familiar. Do you have a sister named zerotwo by any chance?"

Olivia turned back around, hiding her horns. "I don't have any sisters. I don't even have a family."

Jax decided not to ask. "So why are you here?"

"You already saw why." She muttered.

Jax seriously thought for a moment. "Am I really supposed to? I mean… unless they lock people up who are strong… but you're not even that strong…"

"IT'S CAUSE OF MY HORNS!" She yelled angrily.

Jax raised his hands in a panic. "Shhhh! Shhhh! Are you trying to get me caught! Stop being so damn loud!"

Olivia huffed angrily for a few moments but eventually calmed down. "Did you seriously break in here?"

Jax nodded. "That's what I said, isn't it?"

Olivia laughed dryly. "That's absurd."

Jax ignored her. "Are you literate? Or better yet do you know anything about enchanting?"

Olivia glared at him again. "I can read the basics."

Jax clicked his tongue. "I was hoping you could teach me."

Olivia blinked in shock. "You can't read?"

Jax nodded. "Stupid bow only translates speech."

"Huh?" Olivia asked, confused.

"Nevermind." Jax stood up and brushed the dirt off his pants. However, he wasn't dirty… only soaking wet.

He grabbed the keys out of his pouch and grabbed a random key. He put it up to the lock and it miraculously worked! Jax was super happy! He would have looked like an idiot if he had to fumble with the keys for 5 minutes again! Now he looked cool!

Jax swung the door open. "Let's go. You said you wanted to save the world right? Here's your chance."

Olivia sighed in anger. "I don't wa-"

"I don't either, but I do need someone I can trust and I don't trust anyone in my party." Jax replied.

"No." Olivia said flatly. "I'm not going to help this world, no matter what."

Jax chuckled and walked into the cage. He picked her up in a princess carry. "Then I guess this is a kidnapping. How exciting! It's my first time!"

Olivia sighed. "It's not mine."

Jax paused. "Sorry."

Olivia rolled her eyes. "Who even are you? Why do you keep asking me to save the world?"

Jax set her down gently and removed his hood. He also took out his bow. "One of the four heroes. At your service m'lady." He bowed overly respectfully.

Olivia scoffed. "What's one of the mighty heroes doing breaking into the castle dungeon?"

"I just felt like it." Jax said as he yawned. "Let's get out of here. I'm exhausted. I haven't slept in at least 24 hours."

Olivia rolled her eyes but followed Jax. Suddenly something appeared in her vision.

[Invitation to the Bow hero's party. Party members - 1. Will you accept?]

Olivia sighed again and pressed something.

Jax smiled when he saw his notification.
