Change Of Fate

At present.

Zhao Yun was lying in a pool of blood which has now become a stream flowing into the strange hole in the centre. His entire body was pale due to excessive blood loss. It was a miracle in itself that he was still alive. And to top it all the evil spirits were still causing him to lose his will.

His eyes were distance. Although he was now barely thirteen, all the childishness was gone from his eyes due to the recent turn of events. He had become mature overnight. He looked at the dark sky. No matter what time of the day it was, in this abyss the sky was always dark and gloomy. A desolate smile made its way to his lips. A smile filled with despair.

"Mother, father please forgive me I couldn't be filial. I couldn't become an ultimate expert as you all wanted me to become. If there is a next life, I would fulfil all your wishes." He murmured.

Tears started rolling down his cheeks when he though how devastated his parents would be.

"Little Mei forgive big brother. Big brother has to go very far now. He cannot come to find you."

Thinking of the adorable girl who was crying and rubbing her snot and mucus filled little face on his sleeves while leaving; a heart-breaking cry came out of his mouth. And he lay powerlessly on the ground breathing heavily. His eye lids appeared to be extremely heavy to him. A wave of fatigue washed through his body. "Ah all these years when others were playing and enjoying all they could, I worked extremely hard to become powerful. For what? To get chased away like a dead dog? Hahahaaha oh Zhao Yun you are too pitiful." A self-mocking smile appeared on his lips. "Leave it, I'm too tired now" thing of this he started closing his eyes. The more he closed it, the more life force left his body. Suddenly a tender, but determined voice was heard in his mind "I will" Zhao Yun jolted. It was Yu Mei's voice when she replied to him. He had promised her that he would go look for her. How can he die right now? He was too weak, if he died who would protect his family? As soon as these thoughts arose, his droopy eyes opened wide. At the same time the will which was slowly fading away condensed again. It appeared as if he was holding to the last of his life-force. Cold sweat covered his back.

"Huh! This little doll is quite amazing."

"Yeah he came out of our illusion just before we were going to succeed."

"Jiejiejie it's rather good. The more terrifying the will, the more tasty the soul"

Waves of nasty laughter and surprised exclamations entered Zhao Yun's ears. He was terrified at the capabilities of these eerie things. They had influence his mind so naturally that he didn't even knew that he had given up so easily.

"Hahaha little boy show us what you got."

With this nasty voice, the unknown power once again invaded his sea of consciousness. This time to his horror, Zhao Yun realised that the suppression of the unknown power on his will was stronger than before. This revelation terrified him as he could sense his will weakening under this suppression.

"Rest child you have worked hard. You must be extremely tired. This world is too cruel, you are just a mere child, and how can you face it alone. You should be exhausted. Close your eyes and rest you are safe here." A voice with intense demonic charm rang out in Zhao Yun's ears. The demonic voice was gentle and warm just like a mother's embrace; prompting him to just close his eyes and sleeps. He wanted to enter deep slumber and leave all those complex and scheming world behind.

His eyelids felt extremely heavy. His consciousness was drowsy and slowly he also started to lose control of his body. Zhao Yun was horrified to find that almost 90% of his body was out of his control. He bit his tongue ruthlessly. The pain which he had already become numb to erupted one again. The intense pain managed to free him of the clutches of the evil beings.

"Huh" once again surprise flashed through the spirits' eyes which was replaced by fury and sinister glint. One must know that even though these evil spirits were just apparitions formed by special circumstances, with the passage of time sentience has been born among them. There were many intelligent spirits here, some whose intelligence can be compared to a teenage human. How can these beings tolerate a boy who was not even 14 escapes their control when even some old monsters could not do so. Will power was an extremely mysterious concept. It was not something that depends on an individual's cultivation level. There were many cases where the will power of mere mortals were found to be higher that of some cultivators. Once tolerance does increase with his/her cultivation, but will power was an entirely different concept. It was the training of the soul and mind. So one can say that the cultivation of the soul would be able to help increase ones will power. But the shear rarity of the methods to train soul made it so that the major weakness of cultivators was their soul strength. For this purpose various external help such as armaments as well as pills came into being which helped one to protect their souls. In fact many cultivators joined forces to craft an extreme device for the protection of souls. It was an amulet which could defend against extremely high level of soul attacks. A supreme expert of this world even entered the abyss using that amulet but to his horror he found that the evil beings could ignore all kind of external defence. That poor soul lost his life due to ignorance and greed. Not only he died, he even lost the supreme treasure, causing everyone else outside to curse all of his nine generations.

Those evil spirits with anger filled eyes looked at Zhao Yun sinisterly causing hills to go down his spine.

"So you are a tough nut to crack huh, boy?" said the leading evil spirit with an ugly face.

"Let's devour his soul. No need to play anymore." Said another one sinisterly.

Agreeing to his suggestion the soul pressure on Zhao Yun was increased by folds.

This time he truly felt he would die. He tried with all his might to simulate the pain in his battered body to keep himself conscious. In his despair he didn't notice that something has sucked almost all of the blood he had spilled into the hole and now a faint white light was being emitted from there.

"Am I going to die?" he muttered in despair.

'NO! I can't die. I haven't avenged myself. I have not fulfilled my parents' wishes. I have not met little Mei yet. I have not done many things I wanted to do. How can I die? I can't die'

"I CAN'T DIE" he roared with all his remaining strength. But that was all he could do. He fell to the ground again. His consciousness was extremely blurry. It was slowly leaving his body. He smiled. But this smile was filled with emotions of rage, indignation, hatred and despair. In the end he still failed. But as he was going to close his eyes, the faint white light became extremely bright. Like a shining sun it illuminated the entire area. If not for the dark sky covering the abyss, a commotion would have happened in the outer world. Soon the white light receded. But it surprisingly covered Zhao Yun. Unexpectedly, the spirits lingering around have all vanished without a trace too. It was as if they were never there in the first place. The experts of the world would have been frightened to death if they knew that the spirits that have haunted them for eternity had just been eliminated by a white light without even giving them the chance to cry. The entire area became quiet and dark once again. Except for Zhao Yun who was still inside a cocoon formed by the white light everywhere else became calm and quiet.

"HAHAHAHAHA finally I Ling Yun have returned"

An old ancient laugh reverberated in the area.
