Rise of The Fallen

This is the story of Razjeel, Angel who lost everything and stood against God. He was the first angel ever created and also the first one to clash swords with his 'Father'. Follow Razjeel after he returned after 7 000 years of imprisonment to the world that completely changed but one thing stayed the same... His thirst for revenge towards those who took everything from him. ___________________ It's a DxD fanfic. It was my first ever idea for fanfic. I like the DxD universe and how many possibilities it has, almost endless!! I also never saw any fanfic where Mc is Angel or Fallen Angel so I tried to make one. It was created in my free time but still, I hope you'll like it! If this would be accepted by you, there would be no big harem, it's a drag to make one and keep all the personalities different and give each of the girls some screen time to not forget about her, so it would be 2-3 girls max. I don't own Highschool DxD and its characters except a few which I created. I don't own a cover either, I found it on Pinterest. Please, think of this as Parallel World and don't compare this to the original, it should make reading more comfortable.

Chapter 7

In Azazel's mind was storm of thoughts. He thought of various explanations of this situation. Is this some kind illusion? Hallucinations? Or maybe he is dreaming? But, no matter how hard he thought of it, he could find only one answer. It was a reality.

He had so many questions he wanted to ask. But out of the shock he was in and mess in his head, he ask only one.

Azazel: How?

Razjeel, who's eyes back to normal and wings were furled, asked with faked hurtful expression.

Razjeel: This is how you greet your older brother after seven thousand years?

Azazel quickly shook his head and smiled wryly in self embarrassment.

Azazel: No, no! That's not what I mean. You don't have idea how happy I'm to see you, big brother. It's just... I... I can't believe you're here, right now. You was exiled to 'that' place... I have so many questions. I-

Razjeel: It's okay. I will answer all of your questions, in the end we had all the time we want, right? But I think it's not a proper place to talk.

He said latter part looking around the place that was in complete mess now. This wasn't a proper place where you wanted to chat with someone.

Azazel: I think so too. Well, let's talk in my place.

Razjeel: And what about them?

He asked, pointing at the Fallen Angels scattered around. Few started awaking but their body was too sore to even move. At first they thought that Azazel will fight with Razjeel, but after hearing their's conversation so far, they didn't anymore. Long time no see? Brother? Big brother? Razjeel? Seven thousand years? They were confused.

Azazel: Meh, leave them alone. I will send someone to clean this mess. You surely had a fun, huh?

He shrugged and said disinterested while looking around. Latter part he said while looking at Razjeel. He responded while putting his hands in the pockets walking closer to Azazel.

Razjeel: Nah, they are too weak, I only used one Magical attack but still, it was too much for them. As you can see yourself.

He said second part while looking at the missing part of the building. Conscious High Class Fallen had scowl on their faces hearing what he said.

Azazel: Okey, Okey. Let's go.

Razjeel: Sure.

Yellow Magic Circle appeared beneath them. In the next moment both of them disappeared in yellow flash. Seeing that they are gone, one of the Fallens said aloud

Fallen: Who the hell was he?

°×°×°×°×°×°×°×°

Penemue was sorting some documents in Azazel's office for him to check and sign. She was thinking how to use her time with Azazel later, when a Yellow Magick Circle formed in the center of the room. She knew that only her Governor could appear directly in his own office.

Penemue: Welcome ba-

Razjeel: Hooh, quite a nice office I would say.

Azazel: Haha, of course. Who do you think designed it like that? Haha.

Razjeel: You should be more humble brat.

She finished sorting documents and turned around while trying to greet Azazel, but was cut off by unknown to her man. He was little taller than Azazel, had green eyes and black hairs with handsome facial features. He was looking around at the office. 'Who is that man? Why is he speaking with Azazel so casually?'. Her and Razjeel eyes met, she quickly regained her composure and greet them politely.

Penemue: Welcome back, Azazel-san. You didn't inform me that you would heve meeting today. Hello, my name is Penemue, I'm General Governor's secretary, it's pleasure to meet you mister..?

Razjeel take a closer look at her. She was indeed a beautiful woman, but she was giving a vibe of great intelligence and strict nature.

Razjeel: My name is Razjeel, I am older brother of that brat. It's pleasure to meet you Penemue.

She was little dumbfounded. Older brother of Azazel? And his name is Razjeel..? She heard this name somewhere but couldn't remember where. She looked at Azazel to see any reaction but he just stand there relaxed and nodded at her, confirming his words.

Penemue: Well, I guess you have something important to talk about, so I shall take my leave. If there is anything needed then please, call me.

She made slight bow and said latter part while looking at Azazel. Razjeel noticed something strange in her look when she looked at Azazel. He smiled slightly and when he noticed she almost left a room he asked a question loud enough for her to hear.

Razjeel: Quite a nice girl she is. Is she your girlfriend?

Penemue stumbled hearing this and her face become little red from embarrassment, but fortunately for her, she was back to them so they didn't saw it. She calmed herself quickly but slower her pace hoping to hear Azazel's answer.

As for Azazel he was rubbing insides of his ear, but when he heard Razjeel's question he pushed his finger too much and damaged his ear giving him a little of pain.

Azazel: Please, don't tease me, big bro. We are not like that.

Penemue shoulders dropped a little hearing this. 'Haa, idiot' thought Razjeel of Azazel while secretly peeking at her reaction.

Azazel: But who knows, as you said she is indeed a nice girl.

She flinched hearing this and left the room with little red ears and happy mood. Razjeel smiled about whole situation. He had quite a good first impression of her. She seems to be intelligent, polite and humble. That was few of really good traits in his opinion.

Razjeel: Okay, now let's talk for a while.

Azazel: Sure, sure take a seat.

Azazel sat behind his desk in black and cozy looking armchair. Opposite to him Razjeel sat on similar but slightly smaller armchair. Both of them sat comfortably preparing for the long talk.

Azazel: So, can you tell me what happened? How are you here? Why only now?

Razjeel: It's not that I didn't want to back sooner. It's that I couldn't. You are one of most knowledgeable Angels that exist so you know yourself how Purgatory is in theory... After fight with that bastard you saw in what condition I was. To be honest, I didn't thought that I would survive with that kind of wounds, but somehow I did. I don't know how much time passed when I healed myself, but probably way much than I thought.

Azazel: Hah, one of the most knowledgeable, you are mocking me? You were Angel of Secrets, you know thing that rest of the world isn't even aware of. But wait... what do you mean "in theory"? Isn't that place like Ancient Scrolls describe?

He asked with raised eyebrows. While in Heaven, he spent much time in Holy Library. It's place where all knowledge gathered by God is stored, along with Ancient Scrolls. They are chronicles written by unknown beings, that describes history and information about the universe since its creation. Information gived by the Scrolls were almost in 100% accurate so it was hard to belive that Scrolls could be wrong.

Razjeel shook his head. He looked seriously in Azazel's eyes and said in cold tone.

Razjeel: Scrolls are partially correct but it's not just simple eternal prison... That place is much worse... It's place when your soul have to be "purged" from any "impurities", this includes your emotions, memories... and yourself.

Azazel was startled hearing that. He tried to understand what he meant and was about to ask him but Razjeel explained it before he could speak.

Razjeel: Imagine this like that, there is a tower build by blocks in any color. All color represents different things such as I said earlier, emotions, memories and your own consciousness or personality. And inside that tower, between colorful ones, are scattered few white blocks, those represents your soul, and they needs to be gathered. Now tell me, how would you gathered white blocks from that tower?

He didn't understand why he made such a comparison. But when he started to think about an answer realization struck him, opening his eyes wide in shock.

Razjeel: As you probably guessed, the easiest way... is to tear down the tower and just gather what you want from the ground. And that's what Purgatory is making with you... Destroying your own existence, everything what makes you you. It's trying to ruin you from inside, making you insane that you couldn't resist. That you wouldn't have any will to live. It show you what you don't want to see in your life, things worse than nightmares... The worst part is that, that the longer you resist, the whole process become slower, making you suffer more and longer. I only survived this far because of one thing that kept me alive... Hatred for that bastard and desire to kill him.

He clenched his hands on the armrests, breaking them in the process. He still remembered what he saw there, what Purgatory make him go through... What it made him to do to her... Azazel didn't bother about the broken armchair. He was still shocked what he heard right now. It was more terrible than in Scrolls, and way more terrifying than Hell. He still remembered why Razjeel was exiled to that place. He could guess what Razjeel saw there, he had only one thing, one person he truly cared about. It made him angry inside at his own Father. What he made Razjeel go through was far worse than death. He basically sentenced him for seven thousand years of endless tortures. It was just... Cruel...

Azazel didn't know what to say. He expected many things, but nothing like that. He remembered time when Razjeel's wings turned black. When everyone were mocking him and insults him. But he didn't hate them in that time. He just always smiled and let everything go, still keeping care of them whenever he could. He tried to help him somehow but Razjeel always said things like he shouldn't worry about such things and focus Azazel clenched his hands into fists, angry at himself. He felt lot of emotions inside him, anger, sadness, regret. If he just help him right there when he could, if he would side with him during his battle with God, maybe everything will turned out differently.

Azazel: Razjeel, I... I don't know what to say... If I would help you during that time... Then... Maybe...

Razjeel: It wouldn't change anything. You saw yourself how powerful that bastard is. You would only lost your life. So don't regret it, you couldn't do anything.

He shook his head. But Azazel promised to himself. He will back him no matter of the situation, he wouldn't abandon him anymore. Both of them take a while to calm themselves down and sort their thoughts. Then, Razjeel resumed to telling what happened next. About strange storm that happened few days ago and how he was cause of the whole thing. About his encounter with Gremory heiress and talk they had and also his meeting with Longinus user, in who's he was completely disappointed. About his little shopping and finally the moment when he attacked an outpost to gather Azazel's attention. After he heard whole story from Razjeel he also told him what happened with him

He said how he was getting more unsure of his faith since Incident in Tell Qaramel. He started doubting what God do and said, finding more and more flaws in his reasoning. How he started to get sick of that whole restriction that only increased, how they couldn't decided for themselves. 'Is this really what should happen? Is this really what I had to do? What is the sense in making this or that?' he was asking this questions to himself. It was then when God invented the System, when you think about something sinful or disobey God or stand against him, you will be automatically kicked out of the Heaven. It was equivalent to abandoning them.

It comes to the part where Azazel, just like Razjeel, fell in love with human. He loved her so much that he ignored rules that restricted relations with humans, driving him to his Fall. He become first Fallen in four thousand years, and second in history. Woman that he fell for, was from the religious organization that worshiped God. When she discovered that he was exiled from Heaven and wasn't an Angel anymore, she felt disgusted with him. Her personality made 180° spin, her love disappeared like it never existed. He was devastated.

His fall worked like domino, one after another, next Angels started to falling. They were many reasons such as lust, love, lost of faith or desire of freedom. During years, numbers of Fallen Angels were so high, that they decided to make their own faction with Azazel as a leader. He was the strongest of the Fallen and they said that 'First to fall, should be first to rule'. Of course not all of them agreed with that, which led to many internal conflicts. It was time when Grigori was founded, and next faction entered at the world's stage.

After finishing his story Azazel looked at Razjeel and asked him.

Azazel: So, after you came back and found a place you can call a home from now one, what are you planning to do? Just remember that I will support you in every decision you make.

Hearing that Razjeel's eyes turned crimson red with slit pupils, murderous look appeared in them. He let out so powerful killing intent that everyone in Grigory felt suffocated and scared, even Azazel had problem to breathe.

Razjeel: I'm will finish what I started seven thousand years ago... I'm gonna kill the God.

I hope you enjoy this chap. Little chitchat here but you don't have idea how hard was this for me to write.

I also found out that I sucks at writing romance, so if you have any advices I will appreciate to see some in comments.

This Concept of purgatory I created myself so for any holes in reasoning I please for being lenient, it was really hard for me and I tried my best :(

Enjoy your day or have sweet dreams!
