90 I Am a Cason

With the Headmasters leaving the office, only Dumbledore, Newt, Artland and the old couple were left. Artland carefully looked over the older couple and saw a few similarities from his mother.

The woman had greying black hair that was cut off at her shoulders. Her dark eyes seemed to carry some affection and sadness as she looked at Art. The older gentleman was tall and intimidating with his large stature. A scar ran across one of his eyebrows.

Newt cleared his throat, ending the stare off. "Art, these are your mother's parents, Sullivan and Maria MacFusty."

Artland kept a blank face and gave a small nod, "Hello."

Maria's face seemed to have collapsed and she looked down at the floor. Sullivan grew angry at Art's actions, "Boy, we are your grandparents, your family. Don't you think we deserve more of a welcome than that?"

Hearing Sullivan, Newt drew in a quick breath and looked at Art with a little fear, knowing that Art was already holding back his anger.

Art little out a light chuckle, but Newt could hear the anger in it.

"My family? My family died 14 years ago." he said coldly.

"We are also your family." Maria said quietly, glancing at him.

"By blood, nothing else." Art replied, not giving her a glance.

Sullivan was about to say something when Art cut him off.

"I only want one thing from you people. I want to know why my mother was kicked out of the clan."

The couple was shaken but soon calmed down.

"She made a mistake which ended up getting her brother killed… Artland MacFusty who you are named after." Maria said quietly.

Art was surprised and nodded his head slowly. "What did she do?"

"Your mother was never gifted with the dragons and one day was attacked while feeding them. Artland saved her but was killed. The clan was angry as Artland was extremely gifted in all aspects so they banished her and sent her away with some distant relatives, foreboding any contact with her." Sullivan said, emotion flickered across his face.

Art scoffed and shook his head in derision, "Fucking pureblood families." he muttered.

He turned to leave when Sullivan grabbed his shoulder. "We are your grandparents and we made mistakes. Whether you admit it or not, we are your family."

Art slapped his hand off his shoulder and glared at him viciously, "Todd Cason. Greg Cason. Shirley Cason. They all had the last name Cason and they are the ones who fought and died for me to live. THEY DIED IN FRONT OF ME!" Art spoke slowly but was yelling by the end.

"I watched them fight the Death Eaters to the death! My mother blew herself up to give me a chance to escape! Even after that, where were you!? A three year old with no family left and my own grandparents don't come see me once!?" he yelled, his magic waas fluctuating wildly and a flew glasses shattered.

"Artland…" Newt muttered, placing a hand on his shoulder.

Art calmed down and the office returned to its calm state.

"Sorry Mr. Scamander." he said and then looked at his grandparents, "I should thank you though, because of your lack of presence in my life I met my new family who I owe everything to. I am a Cason, not a MaFusty."

Art didn't say anymore and left Dumbledore's office.

Dumbledore let out a sigh and said, "He is emotional and isn't in the right state of mind."

Newt shot Dumbledore a look and said, "Don't be thick Dumbledore. Art doesn't speak carelessly." He turned towards the MacFustys, "Regardless of your reasons, Artland will never see you as family… and frankly I don't blame him."

"Newt…" Dumbledore said.

"Enough Dumbledore. People aren't as forgiving as you." Newt said shortly and left the office.

---

Art headed towards the Room of Requirement where he found the twins, Harry and Cedric training.

Art joined them and helped Harry a bit master a few helpful charms. The twins trained Harry mostly while Cedric and Art sparred against each other. Cedric was an extremely gifted wizard that Art believed could make a name for himself in the future.

He was unsure about the twins as they loved pranks and created a few of their own. They might open a prank shop or something else along those lines but Art would support them in whatever they did as they were his friends.

For the next month, Art found himself at the center of many newspaper articles and peoples gazes. Many of them accused him of Dark Magic and other forbidden things to explain his strength but the Ministry knew the truth, not that they stopped the articles or explained that they already tested him.

Mrs. McGonagall told them about the Yule Ball that would be held over the Christmas break and how it would be a dance.

Art stuck up his hand to ask a question. "Professor, can a Champion take another Champion as their date?"

McGonagall gave Art a depressed smile, "Unfortunately no, Mr. Cason. The four Champions will lead the ball with the first dance."

Art had a bitter smile and nodded his head.

'I wonder what lucky bastard gets to dance with Fleur… he better be gay.'

Art spent some time with Fleur and wondered around the castle. When he showed her the Room of Requirement she was stunned.

"So this is where you train all the time?" she asked.

"Yes, for a few years now. It provides us with all the necessary equipment and books to learn. I owe a large portion of my strength to this room." he said with a smile as he looked around the room fondly.

"It's incredible…" she muttered as she ran her hand against the bookshelf.

Suddenly the room started to change and the bookshelf was replaced with dark red curtains with torches lining the walls. A round table that was set with candles and plates appeared.

"I thought it would be a perfect date spot as well." Art gave a cunning smirk.

Clearing his throat, he said, "Dobby."

A small house elf appeared with trays of food in his hands.

"Master Cason, I brought the food you requested." the elf said with glee and gave a small bow.

"Thank you Dobby. Here is your tip." Art handed his a Sickle causing the house elf's eyes to widen.

"Dobby can't accept this! Too much for Dobby!" Dobby waved his hands and tried to return it.

Art refused to take it back, "Buy some nice mittens with it."

Art laughed as he saw that Dobby was covered in many strange articles of clothing.

Dobby finally left and Art helped Fleur to her seat before taking his own.

"That house elf wears clothes and accepts money?" she asked confused.

"He is a free house elf and a bit strange but a good guy." Art said, filling his and Fleur's cup with a splash of wine.

The two enjoyed their meal and after the room changed again… a bed appeared.
