chapter 7 progress

Once my arm was healed i made my way to my dorm room where Luna was waiting outside the door. I let her in and we sat down.

Shu[ I'm assuming that blue membrane that appeared was a defensive barrier placed by your parents?]

Luna[ what do you want for my badge?]

So she just ignored my question entirely.

Shu[ I'm going to ask for one primeval essence stone each week for the whole school year, and good strength path gu or a good healing gu, and i plan on letting all the other class leaders know as well. Whoever offers the best gu gets the badge.]

At my words she frowned for a bit then she got up and went to the door.

Luna[ i be sure to get a good gu then.]

With that said she left, they sure have haughty attitudes for some brats not just her but all of the class leaders.

The next day i stayed true to my words and sent letters to all of the other class leaders. Of course I'm going to wait till the end of the month protection, that way my class and i get an extra primeval essence stone.

For the next three weeks I waited for their offers as i earned the extra primeval essence stone each week, and all though i did get offers from all of them only two were actually tempting.

Ji's offer was two gu once again, grasping squid gu a gu that temporarily gives the user the full strength of a squid, and the second gu was blood breath gu. It's technically a blood path gu but it assists those in strength path by allowing the blood to carry more air letting those who've used it to get less out of breath.

The other person who offered two gu was Luna. She offered sharp shark strength gu a gu that temporarily gives the user the full strength of a shark, and healing membrane gu. A gu that covers the user in a slimy mucus that heals the user. This is a water path gu thats pretty valuable since it works well with other paths, because of that i plan on accepting Luna's offer.

Afters school inside of my dorm i invited Luna to accept her offer. She handed me the two gu and i gave her the badge. Sharp shark gu was a white shark tooth that eats whole fish, while healing membrane gu was a small blue frog.

Luna[ do you know what these gu eat?]

Shu[ Yeah sharp shark gu eats whole fish, while healing membrane gu eats vile stalks.]

After a bit of small talk she waved her hand and many jars with green stalks appeared.

Luna[ this is the promised amount, with this I'll take my leave.]

After she left i organized the jars she left. This was part of her deal, instead of leaving me a primeval essence stone each week. She'll instead get me a years worth of healing membrane gu's food.

Now all i lack is a scouting type gu, a storage gu, and a defensive gu, but for now I'll focus on enhancing my body. I don't plan on fighting for badges anymore it'll be to difficult now that they know how i fight, and I'm sure their getting stronger too.

After using beast muscles gu i can feel I'm close to completely using it and once i do I'll have to sell it or trade it for another body enhancing gu.

After two weeks i could no longer use beast muscles gu, but a week earlier i expected it to happen so put out a request to trade gu at the clan's request board. I was then able to trade beast muscles gu for strong tendon gu. A gu that permanently strengthens my tendons. I traded the extra food of beast muscles gu for the food of strong tendon gu.

Four months after the start of the academy in my room as i was cultivating i finally made a brake through. My jade green primeval essence turned into a pale green primeval essence. I had turned into a rank 1 middle stage gu master. Which was pretty fast for a c grade talent. I was only able to progress so quickly since i don't have to buy food for most my gu, and i gain six primeval essence stones each week. Besides saving some primeval essence stones most are used for my cultivation.

If only i had a liquor worm i would have long since reached middle stage and with it I'd have access to upper stage primeval essence. Those of higher talent had long since reached middle stage and have been already attempting to reach upper stage.

Well even if my cultivation is slower i can still become stronger by enhancing my body. Allowing me to use my strength better, after a month of using strong tendon gu i was unable to use it anymore, and just like last time i put up a request to trade gu.

However the next thing i wanted to strengthen was my bones, but i was mainly getting offers for gu that strengthens the intestines. My strong tendon gu is more valuable than those gu they offered.

Other than that the only other thing of importance was that ji challenged the b grade talent who has two badges, and she won giving her a huge lead in the class leader competition. Thats was the advantage of buying my badges. She now has four badges while Luna and the one b grade talent have only one.

After a few more days i finally managed to trade gu, i traded for enhanced bones gu. Which obviously strengthens the users bones permanently. Once i finish using this gu my body will be capable of adding more strength.

I would love to use more beast strength gu that permanently strengthens myself. That way i don't have to keep using primeval essence to activate gu and i won't have to keep feeding more gu, but those gu are precious as they seem to only be found in the wild.

Time went on and Luna was able to take the last badge from the b grade talent. Leaving only Ji and her in the competition, besides cultivating i went around the clan looking for certain deals.

Being in the clans academy is the safest place for me to cultivate in peace. I have no missions yet, no enemies, and a stable source of income. Once I'm out of the academy thats where my problems will begin. Thats why i must increase my strength as quickly as possible while i can safely.

After five more months and constant cultivation i managed to go up one more stage. I'm now rank 1 upper stage just one stage away till i attempt to rank up. I had also long since used enhanced bones gu and had traded it for the gu that enhance my intestines and after using them i sold it.

Three months later the last week of the academy. The class leader competition was done Ji had managed to win by one badge, near the end she was no longer Lunas match in a battle, but due to the month protection after a battle Luna could only watch as Ji won, but i had a bigger issue.

Back at home i sat infront of my father and his wife.

Stepmother[ good news we found a wonderful woman for you to be with, she comes from a strong branch in our clan.]

Father[ its true, in this branch you won't have many worries in life.]

Shu[ I see.]

I stood up and left, despite both of them calling out to me. I was already expecting this to a degree, so i long since emptied out my room and took all my saplings. I just didn't think it would happen before i even left the academy.

You know its weird in my last life if i was to be wedd to a beautiful woman i would gladly take it, but now that i can actually do something i want too whole heartedly fallow i just see this marriage proposal as a nuisance. I guess this is just my personality my nature

Father[ Wait! Shuidi, i don't understand why would you not want this marriage. Their branch is very renowned, you wouldn't have to worry about anything else in your life.]

Shu[ Worries are a part of life, they can be considered human tribulations that one must overcome and if they do they grow.]

Father[ and those whose don't overcome them?]

Shu[ They lose greatly or worse case die.]

Father[ exactly, so if you were to marry into this family everyone wins.]

Shu[ and those who died cause of those tribulations can be considered to have actually lived..... You might be my father but you really don't know me.]

My words seemed to have shut him up.

Shu[ Though i can't blame you, for i also didn't know myself well till now. I'm not talented but I'm hard working, I'm not incredibly smart but I've become wiser with time. I might be a mortal but i have lofty ambitions, I've been told I'm greedy though I'd say I'm human, and it wasn't until now that i realized I'm also a bit prideful. It wasn't until till now that i realized all these qualities make me who i am.]

As i was speaking i felt something solidify within me the more i spoke.

Shu[ All these things define who i am.... my insignificant character Shuidi zhide Hu.]

My father stared at me for a minute before he spoke again.

Father[ alright i understand, live your life the way you see fit. I wish you the best my child.]

Shu[ Before you go, can you tell me who proposed the marriage ?]
