Retired X Rank: Life Away From The Frontlines

The other title this book goes by: X-Rank Chronicles: Life Away From The Frontlines _________________ X-ranks. They are one rank higher than the average SSS-rank and two levels higher than the SS-rank. If the domain of touching the sky is SS-rank, and the realm of touching the stars is SSS-rank, then X-ranks should be depicted as beings capable of moving the stars. On a continent called Sun Land there exists a guild capable of mass producing X-ranks like they are cars ready to be sold to the nearest dealership. The country where the guild was created expanded the number of territories it controlled and ruled the continent with an iron might since their military strength has already been assured… Until one fateful day, the guildmaster of that X-Rank guild decided to leave the frontlines and retire. ________________________________________________ Disclaimers: 1. Subordinate's Report

A light pause followed between the two before Ryuda cleared his throat and broke the silence.

"First off, as your senior in the field of education, I shall call you whatever I want, got it? Secondly, I want you to never speak about how I've taught you the very existence of the universe as well as how long I've been alive for, understand?"

Old Wang silently nodded.

"Another thing I want to say to you is that you better keep my existence a secret. If not, my eyes and ears spread out within the Boln Federation will find you and silence you as soon as possible. Are we clear?" Ryuda sternly warned.

The tone of his voice made it clear to Old Wang that he would experience hell if he didn't keep his mouth shut after this visit.

"Yes…Yes Sir." Old Wang replied, his voice shaking due to fear.

"Good. Now drop the 'Sir' part and just call me Ryuda. It'd be weird for an SSS rank Sage to call an S ranked Teacher 'Sir'." Ryuda patted Old Wang on the back before he turned towards the group of students and teachers frozen in place.

With a snap of his finger, time resumed while everything around them started to move again.

"Oh, so you do know Mr. Ryuda?" Principal Judas asked.

"Surprisingly so, he was actually the assistant lecturer for a subject I took back when I was still an S ranked Professor. I think the subject was called Principles of Spell Casting II, if I remember correctly."

Just like they agreed, Old Wang will now treat Ryuda like an old buddy he met during his college days in the capital.

Then again, who would dare question the legitimacy of his story anyways? Old Wang's a well respected SS ranked Sage after all.

Unsuspectingly, Principal Judas did.

He immediately judged Old Wang's freshly baked story to be a lie.

He then turned to look at Ryuda with a questioning gaze, as if the A rank Warrior could get an answer from an S ranked Teacher.

Ryuda merely smiled back at his own principal. He deduced that silence was the best method to deal with people who possess sharp instincts.

So in this case, Principal Judas knew that the relationship between Ryuda and Old Wang were more than college friends.

But if both sides decide to stay silent, he has no choice but to push this matter aside for now.

"I see, so you too met in college…Must be nice, I've never even been to college before." Alas, Principal Judas decided to just drop the matter entirely as he thought to himself.

'It'd be unwise to dig any further lest Sir Wang deems my actions disrespectful.'

Moving on, Ryuda accompanied his students as they completed each of Old Wang's tests with flying colors. Even the old sage couldn't help but be amazed at the children's talents.

'As expected of my lecturer who can control time, these students are incredible!' He thought to himself.

The Sun soon set behind the mountains west of Asclepius, allowing the moon to take its place and share its blue brilliance upon the towns and cities below..

Ryuda exchanged goodbyes with his students and Old Wang before he teleported himself to his room located within the teachers' dorm.

He had pushed the report from one of his old disciples for far too long now.

After he made sure that his door was locked, Ryuda walked towards his closet before he pulled out an old wooden box buried beneath a pile of clothes.

Upon closer inspection, the old wooden box was decorated in mysterious runes and alphabets that do not belong to the current era.

Ryuda placed his hand onto the wooden box's lid before he injected mana into the wooden box.

A moment later, the lid of the wooden box cracked itself open like a treasure chest.

Without a second thought, Ryuda poured out the contents within the wooden box onto his bed.

"A demon god's heart, a dragon king's tongue, a gorgon's gallbladder, and a necklace made from an immortal's collarbone…Sheesh, I didn't think I'd need the contents within this box right now."

With the four items in hand, Ryuda took out his m-pad before he made a call to one of his old friends.

"Hephestus? It's me, Ryuda. I need your help with something…"

Several hours earlier…

After sealing off the bathroom stall from the rest of the washroom, Ryuda proceeded to call his disciple back. "Hello? Is that Azure Monarch?"

"Boom!" A loud explosion resounded in Ryudas' ear before his disciple's voice connected. "Yes, this is Azure Monarch. Who is this?"

Azure Monarch was in the middle of battling an ancient forest demon lord when his m-pad rang.

The explosion just now was the aftermath of Azure Sky, a basic offensive spell from Azure Monarch's Ten Great Azure Spells.

"It's me, Ryuda. What was the urgent thing you wanted to report just now?" [Ryuda]

"Oh hello, Master. It's good to hear your voice. Have you been eating well?" [Azure Monarch]

"Cut to the chase, Azure. I know the situation's dire enough for you to call me. So, what's wrong?" [Ryuda]

"BOOM BOOM BOOM!" Explosions rang continuously as Azure Monarch unleashed several of his Ten Great Azure Spells at the ancient forest demon.

The ancient forest demon was bewildered by his human opponent's sudden burst of attacks that it died without knowing when it happened.

It was only then did Azure Monarch spoke again.

"The Black Dragons of Avalon are planning to resurrect Merlin the Demon." [Azure Monarch]

"Merlin, as in the sorcerer that helped King Arthur establish Camelot in the Western World? That Merlin?" [Ryuda]

"Yes, the Black Dragons of Avalon wish to resurrect the demonic side of the legendary sorcerer by offering sacrifices to their Black Dragon King." [Azure Monarch]

"I understand, how many human towns have been sacrificed as of now?" [Ryuda]

"A little over half a million people, Master…" [Azure Monarch]

Hearing the number, Ryuda's eyes darkened significantly as he thought about the number of ways to deal with scum called the Black Dragons of Avalon.

"To think that the masters of the Western World are unable to keep a force like that checked…Useless. Speaking of which, was King Arthur the one who sent us these details?"

Yes, Hephestus is Ryuda's old friend. It's not the God of Fire, Hephaestus.
