Chapter 46
It was 8am in the morning and the sky was covered in clouds, there were strong winds outside that caused the trees to sway around, and it looked like it was going to rain today. Charles saut on the balcony looking at the world, you could see most of the city from where he was standing, he sighed deeply. Today was the day that he finally says goodbye to Lacey, she was going to be fixed but her memories as his wife were all going to disappear like dust during a windy day. His heart was aching, with hurt and guilt, he was hurt that he would finally have to accept reality and move on. He has to come to terms with the loss of his wife, he should accept things the way they are. He was feeling guilt because he kept this from her, not just her but his family too, his little girl Dorothy, she was still mad at him and she refused to talk to him or see him, he didn't blame her it was all his fault for lying to her, her whole life. And she blamed herself for not knowing the truth anytime soon, they were all going to meet at the lab where she was created today and finally say goodbye to the woman they grew attached to. Ian refused to come, not because he was angry but because he wasn't good at handling goodbyes but he told Charles that their idea was stupid, because he did not want them to see that he was hurting too. He also wanted to apologize to his dad for what he said the other day but his pride and ego got in the way and he decided to keep his mouth shut.
"Master it's time to go." His butler Oscar said standing on the door way, Oscar has beed his butler for 28 years now, and he was always there for Charles even when his company almkst went bankrupt he was there for him. He helped him get back on his feet and be the greatest business man of all time again and since then Charles was unstoppable but Ian surpassed him, he was really shocked but happy for his kid for making it to the top of the mountain in such a short period of time like his old man and Charles was now second to him. And that made him happy because Ian was his son. "Alright I'm coming." He replied and Oscar walked out
After a few minutes Charles walked out and he got into his black SUV that Lacey got for him for his 25th birthday. He really did miss the original Lacey, she pulled him out of the black hole that he was in because of his evil mother, but maybe his love for her was a bit too selfish because he ended up getting an android created to replace her and lie to his entire family. Sometimes he wished that he could just bury himself.
After an hour they finally arrived, to the one place that he never wanted to get back to. He took a deep breath and he walked out of his car, he got into the building and as usual this place was busy, people were running around with new inventions to show the boss and make history but some ended up being rejected even though they spent hours and moths working on their inventions, but that's just reality you just have to face it and accept it.
One of the men in black suits escorted them to the room where Lacey and the others were waiting. The man opened the black metal double doors for him and he entered. "AH, Charles you are finally here, I have been waiting for ages, it has been a long time since I've seen you buddy. Come give your old friend a hug." The man called Jack said hugging Charles. Charles spotted Lacey sitting down on one of the chairs. There were some things that were connected to her head that came from a big computer, Charles didn't know what it was for. He saw his family on the corner, Dorothy was hiding behind Valentina.
"Okay, then, I have already checked which circuits were fried and if they can be repaired safely without damaging some of her circuits or her brain because trust me honey it takes time and effort to build a brain and it is hard because you have to make sure that you do not make a single mistake and don't worry she will be fixed and her memories will erased as per her wishes and she will have a new identity, her name will be Iris McIntyre. Everything is sorted out she will live in Scotland, her new house and job is all fixed. So all that is left is to fix her and finish everything up, and her appearance will be changed just as she wished. Trust me Charles she is going to be beautiful and she will be just like any normal human, she will be able to possess emotions and she will be able to reproduce. She only has to be checked and serviced every six months just to avoid complications so now I am going to gather the equipment that I will need, while you talk to her. "Jack said walking out. Charles stood there, he saw as ever gathered around Lacey talking to her telling her how sorry they were for what Charles did and that they were going to miss her a lot more than she thinks.
After some time She looked up at Charles and she told everyone to leave them. They all walked out and Charles walked closer to her, he didn't have the guts to to look her in the eyes because of his selfish decision that he decided to take years ago. "Charles, there is no need for you to feel sad anymore you had your reasons for doing what you did." She said. "I am really sorry, I hope that you can forgive me." He said. "Silly I've already forgiven you a long time ago." She said. "Who knows maybe we will bump into each other maybe, just maybe I might fall in love with you and we could be together again, without the lies and secrets." She said. "I hope so too... I'm really going to miss you." He said truthfully. "If I could remember maybe I would miss you but I'm sure I will, you are a really great dad and husband, Lacey was lucky to have met you and Dorothy and Ian are lucky to have a dad like you who is willing to do anything to keep them happy." She said, and she meant every single word that she said." Thank you... Iris I guess I will see you out there. "He said and they hugged each other tightly, this was really goodbye, but you can never say goodbye maybe they were going to bump into each other in the future and maybe they would fall in love.
