Reality overthrew by fiction

In a quiet room illuminated only by the faint light of the early dusk sun, Kian lay in a small bed, his rhythmic breathing indicating that he was in a deep slumber.

The peacefulness of the moment was empowered by the chirping of birds outside and the sound of Kian's breathing. However, his breaths gradually became more rapid, and his eyes began to flutter before slowly opening.

Before taking any action, he took a few moments to process the events that had just transpired.

He had just been in his home… or a replica of it before finding a stairway that wasn't there before which led to a mysterious door

And after attempting to open it he was surrounded by a warm light before waking up here.

Part of him wished that he would wake up in his home once again, this time for real, and that this was just some mental outbreak.

But deep down he knew that nothing would happen.

After staring at the wooden ceiling for a few more moments, he sat up, surveying his surroundings in an attempt to ascertain his location.

The first thing he noticed was that the walls and ceiling were made of smooth, polished timber, giving the space a cozy, rustic feel.

There was a window in the room that allowed streams of sunlight to dapple patterns of light and shadow on the wooden floor.

It still seemed to be pretty early in the day.

The room was pretty vacant, all it had inside was the bed he was laying on and a nice-looking desk with a chair beside it.

After taking his surroundings in, Kian wasn't left with much.

He was still clueless about the situation.

He didn't know where he was, how he got here, or if this place was even safe.

And worse yet he didn't know if Luna, the person he remembered being with last, was fine.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

Suddenly, Kian's thoughts were disrupted by the sound of someone walking close by.

Darting his eyes towards the closed door Kian waited in anticipation as the steps grew closer and closer.

He knew that someone had let him rest in their home and that the person walking was likely the homeowner who saved him.

But he couldn't be too sure, with all the strange things going on he decided that anything could happen.

So with that, he couldn't help but feel fear as the handle was twisted and the door was opened.

When the door was opened a man peeked his head in, it looked like he wasn't expecting anything in the room because as his eyes landed on Kian, who was sitting up on the bed, they opened widely.

"Oh? you're finally awake"

The young man said while stepping fully into the room.

Kian didn't say anything as of yet, he only scanned the man up and down.

He seemed to be around Kian's height, maybe a little shorter, and appeared to be in good shape, Kian could tell he took care of his body.

His hairstyle was slightly messy and was in a bright, almost golden shade of blond, which matched well with his sparkling blue eyes.

"Are you ok? Oh and I'm Landon by the way."

He said, snapping Kian out of his daze.

"Sorry, I'm Kian and I'm fine, just confused."

He responded by placing a hand on his head while tilting it down.

"I understand, I was also pretty confused when I found two strangers passed out in weird clothing in my fields."

Hearing this caused Kian to jerk his head up and stare at Landon with perplexity.

"Two… What do you mean by two? Was there another person when you found me? And where are we even?"

Kian said while in a state of confusion.

"Woah what's with the sudden bombardment of questions, just calm down, and yes, I found you and a female who looked around your age when I was working."

After hearing this Kian threw the blanket that was covering him up to the side and stood up quickly.

"Can you show me where this person is?"

Kian could only think that it had to be Luna, that was the only person it could've been, and truthfully it was the person he wanted to see right now.

"Um yeah no problem, she's still sleeping in our guest room, and you might want to calm down just a pinch, you've been knocked out cold for three days, and you might wanna take it easy for a bit."

"Three days…"

"C'mon the room she's in is right next to this one."

And with that Kian followed Landon to the room.

When they entered Kian was hit with a wave of relief as he saw Luna laying in bed, sleeping calmly.

He was relieved because now he had someone he knew before the mysterious events happened, and maybe Luna knew of something that he didn't.

But the biggest weight that was lifted off of him was now he knew Luna was safe.

He had come up with the solution that they must've gotten into a wreck, hence the reason he heard the sound of tires screeching before waking up in his 'home'.

Taking a heavy sigh of relief Kian turned to Landon.

"I really appreciate that you've let us rest here, this is my girlfriend Luna"

Kian said, expressing his gratitude.

"Ah is that so, well anyways you should thank my father, he pretty much forced me to carry you guys back here."

"Ah I'll be sure to thank him"

After that Kian paused and turned to Luna.

He couldn't help but wonder if she was experiencing something as he did.

Well, he could only hope that she woke up fine.

"I'm sure she'll be fine, I mean look at you, unscathed. Anyways Kian, you haven't eaten in a few days, my mother was making breakfast and I'm sure she will be happy to feed you."

Now that Landon mentioned it Kian could smell a faint aroma lingering throughout the house.

"Ah, yes please, let's do so"

Kian responded while the feeling of hunger started to hit him.

Taking one last look at Luna Kian and Landon exited the room.

Landon's house was very spacious. It was a two-story house and they were currently on the second floor.

After venturing downstairs they arrived at the kitchen where Kian spotted a woman, who looked to be around his mother's age cooking.

She had the same golden blond hair that Landon possessed.

"Mother, one of our guests has woken up."

Hearing this she turned around to face them.

"Ah finally I was starting to get worried, nice to meet you, young man, I'm Natalie, and I hope you're hungry"

She said with a bright smile on her face.

"I'm Kian, nice to meet you as well, and yeah I could use a bite to eat"

He said while rubbing the back of his head.

"Well I don't wanna ask you a ton of questions when you've just woken up from your small coma, so just eat up and regain some energy."

Natalie said while setting two plates down on the table, gesturing for Kian and Landon to sit down and eat.

The plates had a simple omelet and some meat on them.

"Don't worry my mothers is a great cook"

"Ah I bet it, smells delicious"

They both sat down and enjoyed their meal.

With everything that has been going on Kian needed this small break.

And after not eating for days Kian was starting to feel really hungry.

So right when he got the food he focused on it.

"That was great thanks for the food"

"I'm glad you enjoyed it"

Natalie said enthusiastically while taking the dirty plates from Kian and Landon away.

"Kian I don't know your situation but since your friend is still unconscious you can stay here if you'd like."

"Ah thank you very much, but I do have a question… where are we?"

Kian said with a hint of confusion in his voice.

"You don't know where we are? We're in a small area dedicated to farmland just off of Celestia city"

Landon interjected.

"Celestia?"

Kian tilted his head displaying even more puzzlement.

"Yeah nice joke Kian like someone wouldn't know what Celestia city was"

Landon responded.

"Wait… no I'm being for real, I have no recollection of a city named Celestia"

Kian was one hundred percent sure there wasn't a city named Celestia anywhere remotely close to where he lived.

Which only drove the question further.

Where was he and how did he and Luna end up here?

"Did you lose your memory or something? Well, I guess Kian I'll teach you about standard geography. Celestia is the capital of the Mythoria kingdom. It is home to some of the most advanced magical architectural builds and its nickname is 'the city run through magic'"

Now Kian was lost.

He had zero clue what half the words Landon just said meant and thought he was joking with him for a second.

Kian, who had studied countless regions and knew just about every civilizations mind just went blank when he heard 'Mythoria'.

Not to mention this talk about magic.

Absolute blasphemy.

There have to be some clues as to what is going on…

'Dammit, Kian think!'

Kian tried to think of a scenario where he'd be in this situation but he just couldn't.

He thought back to just before he crashed and tried to remember anything that he had missed.

"Wait… was it… do not fail me?"

Kian mumbled under his breath

He had remembered someone saying these words. He recalled hearing it clear as day.

But this couldn't mean anything, right?

Unless…

Kian was never really into fiction stories but he had read his fair share when he was a child.

One concept that some stories would have is when a character dies and gets reincarnated into a new magical world.

But this was just crazy talk, right?

Right?
