6 1.6 Learning Magic - Part 3

Water appeared on the palm of her hands that Nina's had joined together and started pouring down.

Nina was teaching me how to use water magic. Following her, I tried doing it myself. I concentrated some mana into my hand, and imagined doing what Nina did earlier.

It worked; the water started pouring out of my hands. Except Ronald and Arika who were practicing with the wooden swords, everyone else looked surprised when they saw me do that.

'They probably think I am some kind of freak of nature or something at this point.'

"Nina, let's test the final one, earth magic. Can you show me how it is done?" I said looking towards Nina.

"Y-yes. Do it like this".

Nina touched the ground with her hand and created a small sand castle by manipulating the soil on the ground. After she did, I tried doing the same and it worked. I was able to create a sand castle exactly like hers

"Who would have thought he could use all six of them. I have never even heard of someone being able to do that." Ronald broke the silence of surprise.

"Y-yeah, I think you will automatically be selected in Magic Knight Academy if they find out," Nina said following Ronald.

'But I am not even sure how to use them properly.'

"I still don't know the basics, so I still have to learn a lot." I replied honestly.

"Yeah, but at this rate, you will leave us in the dust. I will help you with it, so don't worry." Arica said while leaning towards me.

'Too close! I can hear an alarm ringing somewhere in my body.'

"Arica, where are your manners? You can't do that." Sistina came forward to separate us.

'I am saved, I was not sure how long my virgin heart could handle that.'

"Look at Sistina, being all jealous," Arica said with a wide smile.

"Ehh, what do you mean I am being jealous? It's just that Nara doesn't like it when you do that," Sistina replied in a hasty tone.

"What do you mean? he obviously likes it. Right, Nara?" Arica said while leaning my shoulder and rubbing her cheek.

"Ah...um... It's getting late so why don't we go home," I said. Things were heating up, so I tried directing this conversation to a different topic.

"Yeah, you're right. Since Andrew and Martha will be joining us for dinner let's head back." Nina said.

After everyone agreed to head back, we returned to the orphanage. Since Andrew's Farm's harvesting finished the day before, we were having a feast.

"Wash up and come to the dining room kids. We have prepared goat meat today," Miss Rose said after we entered the orphanage.

"Okay, we will be there soon." Ronald replied for us all.

After that, Ronald and I went to the well to wash up while the girls went to the bath area inside. We joined everyone in the dining room after finishing.

Everything was already prepared and ready at the table, so we just sat at the table and started eating.

While we were eating, Andrew looked towards me and asked, "So, what do you think about this orphanage Nara?"

"It's good, everyone is nice to me. They are helping me in learning reading, writing and also, magic," I answered honestly.

I was really enjoying life there very much. I used to live alone in my previous life, so I had no idea how much fun staying with a bunch of people of my age would be.

Andrew responded with a smile. "That's good. I knew you would like this place. Do you know the types of Magic that you can use?"

'I know, I know. This is the part where they will be shocked.'

The same thing happened before so this was my second time. I was prepared for the reaction.

"All 6 common types," I said, trying to put it as casually as I could but the result was the same.

"My God! I never expected that there would be anyone like that. You are very talented Nara," Martha said breaking the silence.

'Well, they say talent is 99% hard work and 1% luck. Guess, I am among that 1% people'

"No no, I think I am just lucky," I replied honestly.

"Look at him, being all modest," Arica commented on my honest reply.

The majority of our talk during the dinner was about that. Andrew also talked a little about this year's harvest. According to him, this year they have twice the amount of harvest they usually had. He also told us that he will be going to the city soon to sell the crops.

After finishing our dinner, I helped in cleaning the table while Nina helped Miss Rose with the dishes.

After the cleaning was completed, Andrew and Martha went to their home. We also went to our rooms to sleep. If I were in my previous world, I would be looking at social media or watching movies. But this world didn't have any of those, so I needed to get used to sleeping early.

The next day, I read some books related to magic in the library. After finishing the studies, I went to the training ground where we used to train

"Hey, Nara. How was your morning?" Ronald asked when he saw me coming towards them.

"It was good. I was learning about magic," I replied.

Ronald was training with the sword again. He had remarkable sword skills for someone of his age.

Nina was good at magic control while Marina was good at support and healing magic. Sistina was still struggling with magic control but she was definitely improving.

"So, Nara, have you ever thought of becoming a knight? I can teach you a few sword moves if you are interested," Ronald said.

"I haven't really thought about it. I am planning to take the test to be a magician. But if you are willing to teach me, learning some sword skills wouldn't hurt." I replied.

Ronald was probably looking for a partner to train with since it is hard to train with Arica. She was fine with sword and magic, but she was definitely not a good sparring partner.

"So, the first thing you need to learn is how to hold the sword," Ronald said.

I tried holding the wooden sword, but Ronald said that my posture was incorrect. He then told me about the various sword holding postures. He told me that he would teach me how to swing the sword the next day. So, for the first day, I was to practice the sword holding postures and learn how to maintain it.

"You are good with magic so I think you should train to become a magician. Being a knight is a hard job y'know. Knights need to do hand to hand combat while magicians only do long-distance support. So, becoming a magician is comparatively safer," Nina said. She had come when Ronald was teaching me the sword holding postures.

"Oh, I am just practicing it. You never know when it could be useful. I still plan to be a magician," I replied looking towards Nina.

As usual, we went home in the evening after finishing the training. I helped with making dinner and doing the clean up after it.

After we had our dinner, I told everyone good night and went to bed. I was very tired, probably because of all the training so I fell asleep quickly.
