Beach & Bonfire
" so let's start with shopping, shall we? " said Rose standing in front of the beach attire shop
" I don't mind enjoying the beach with 20 layers of clothing," said Jina
" let's just normally grab a swimming suit..." I replied
" It's not that cold for the starting of winter," said Rose
" True, almost like the early summer after a long and cold winter " replied Jina
" We won't be getting any tans," I said
" Let's get a tan together the next summer " suggested Rose
" Maybe, sure " I replied with slight bitterness spilling from my tone
" Enough! Let's go in already " said Jina
" yes!! " exclaimed Rose.

" I'm exhausted " I fell on the chair outside the store next to Jina
"Me too " sighed Rose
"So no more beach day? " asked Jina
"Anything but that " Rose replied
" let's go without wasting any more minutes " I agreed with an exhausted smile.
While we were having the time of our lives I wondered when was the last time I ever got this peaceful? When was the last time I ever smiled so brightly? It's been too long since I smiled so wholeheartedly. I've had a few friends but anyone could tell these two strangers I decided to trust are the blessings anyone would want, after all A grumpy but caring Jina and a sunshine Rose is enough to make someone like me glow in the spotlight.
"I'm so hungry," Rose said falling next to me
" tired already? " Jina said with a smirk towering up on both of us
" just because you are an athlete body, doesn't mean no one is allowed to get tired," Rose said pouting like a three-year-old
" I'm kind of hungry too " I admitted
"Why don't we go to a nearby restaurant? " Jina suggested
The time flies faster than an eye could blink, and it took us 2 hours to get to a nearby restaurant. By the time we were saying our goodbyes after a hearty dinner, it was 6 PM. On my way back to the mansion I spotted a little girl selling some roasted corn
" iIt'seen a while since I had some," I thought to myself.
" how much for one corn, little girl," I asked getting on my knees
" $5 " she replied
" here " I handed her a $100 bill and walked away with around 20 raw corn. I might didn't have enough to give every child that huge smile every day, right now but maybe someday.
By the time I got home the sun almost settled down, and I found Val waiting on the dining table like a hungry kid. These days he was like a kid who always waits for his mother to come back to cook something delicious.
" how was your day? " I asked sitting next to him
"It was fine, what about you," he asked
"It was fine. Me, Jina, and Rose went to the beach " I replied
"Sounds fun e said
"Indeed" I replied "Mr.Moreau, can you arrange some bonfire? " I added
"Bonfire? " Val uttered looking at me completely confused.
" yes, I bought some corn. " I replied
" Moreau will prepare them, you don't have to do so much," he said
" that's not fun, I won't be hearing anything now " I replied
"Fine, as you wish " he looked at me with the most gentle pair of eyes.

the maids were preparing wood and fuel for the campfire while Mr.Moreau was busy instructing them.
" do you like bonfires? " Val asked
" maybe " I replied
" a maybe is better than a no " he sighed
" true " I replied
The evening went in a daze. We all were laughing, singing, and experimenting with the flavor of the bonfire. I have never seen Val being off guard, he has always been so cautious about something, something no one knows. It bothered me for the longest I could recall but he was not an uptight person for nothing because this day, under the flame of the bonfire, my doubts were turning into concerns because this day I knew he was nothing but a man of sad stories who strives for dreams. These beautiful giggles of his wouldn't last for long, that dazzling burning light won't make him shine in the darkness forever but for as long as it will it's going to be the purest sight to gaze on.
"Are you sleepy? " I asked
" a little " he admitted
" Mr.Moreau, we will be going back to bed, have— " I turned around to inform Mr. Moreau who was already drunk asleep.
" turns out picture-perfect people do have their tiny secrets " I added, chuckling.
" yes they do " Val admitted while heading back together with me
" what is yours? " I asked
"You don't have to worry about that, 𝒎𝒐𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕" he replied
" maybe I do have to be worried about them " I replied
" Why," he asked
" for example, what if you sleepwalk? " I suggested with a really serious expression while I was trying to come up with the best answer and scenarios
" I see " he replied while he burst out into a wholehearted laughter which seemed to be hidden deep within him for long, how long? I don't know.
" you look handsome when you laugh like that " I spoke out without thinking twice
" I do? " he asked taking a minute to calm down from my silly suggestion
" yes " I replied
" Must laughter every day then " he replied with a smile forming across his face. Maybe I was not feeling well but that angelic smile made my heart skip a beat, am I falling for someone I don't even know well?
" You look in good shape now, are you going to come to the office tomorrow? " I asked
" yes " he replied
" there was a man who came today to find you in the office, he looked kind of suspicious," I said
" What was his name? " he asked taking a minute to pause and looking straight into my eyes as if I did something wrong
" I don't recall it well. he said he will be back soon " I replied, a little too scared to move from that gaze.
" you must not let any suspicious men near you if I'm now there, you get me? " he took a step towards me and I found myself inches away from being pinned to the wall. a group of butterflies were swirling inside my stomach and I could feel my cheeks go red.
" yes " I replied with all I could
" Good girl " he replied patting my head before going back to his room.
I stood there for a few minutes watching him leave and rushed back to my room. my heart was pounding like crazy, every inch of my skin was burning with a desire, an unknown desire I have never felt before. I touched my head where his palm made a gentle mess and blushed even more.
