Relucant Villain turns Helpful Hero

One of the Five Villains of the game Dimensional Odessy never wanted to be a Villain. He joined the game to have fun with his friends while maintaining his daily life. But a series of mishaps and his own twisted sense of honor prevented him from seeing the "Hero's" side of things. It does not help the game kept giving him Quests to help the story progress better. A drawback from being originally on a RP/PVE server. He did not find out till later that he was lead into the role. To take the slot of a large portion of the game. Budget cuts in the game almost ruined it. After years of fighting against the status Quo, he went full Villain. With the help of the other Four, they waged War and realigned the Game to better standards. After the scripted War ended and a truce was formed, the largest Event started in the game. The Destructive Wave arrived. Villains, Heros, and those Inbetween, had to put their differences aside and fight against it. As everyone gave their all and ended it, they were suprised when the prompt arrived. (Users have done the unthinkable. However, humanity will no survive the "Change" due to "Events." Would you like to enter + mode?) Only two Users selected it. Most just logged off to think it over. Then again, only a few wanted to keep playing. The last "Event" had caused them to be burnt out. The de facto leader of the Hero side, a User by the name Endless Rhapsody clicked yes. Number Five of the Villans also clicked yes. Both were engulfed in light and disappeared.

A little trouble

It was not long before the black fairy stopped him on a page. She was reading the same books he was reading from the location of his pocket. Weird but not to much so. She defintely was able to read things faster than him.

"That is your subrace. No reason to try and hide it anymore. We have been with you long enough." The black fairy spoke plainly without a hint of malice. "We will not say anything. Also, we can not anyway."

"Yeah, your alright Vladis. You haven't tried to take advantage of us for quests or information. We are Help from the game you know?" Green Fairy said. The fairies were pretty lax in the room. They had been talking telepathically with each other the entire time.

"Did you get permission to talk about it then?" The Red fairy asked. She received a nod and they all relaxed visibly. "That is great."

"So Vladis to be real with you, we may come to you for help in the future. You will receive.."

"Um no." Vladis answered waving his hand to stop her. "I am on this type of server for a reason to enjoy it an everything fully. Getting involved with developers sounds like a hassle and a breach of all kinds of things later. I won't ask you for assurance since I know it is impossible. It has always ended badly for Users who do in the past."

He was referring to another game. One done by the same Developers actually.

"Wait! Hold on!" The black fairy flew up. "It is not like we are sending you to super dangerous stuff. Just areas with reports on Game Instability. Or people that have used illegal hardware sometimes."

"Anyone using illegal hardware should just be killed accidentally!" Vladis said angrily. His body reacted in kind causing his fangs to finally come out. "Their is no reason to spare them! Cut out the problem at the very moment of finding it!"

"It is because of the game "Record of War" that you played previously?" Blue Fairy said calmly. She had done a background check on Vladis that was very illegal. "I know your history and I know you could use help getting your life back together."

"Hard pass. I have money from the lawsuit and my home is paid for. I lost friends and family due to that incident. But I have no plans to reconnect with either groups." This was from the info from the future. Nothing good came from trying to reconnect with them. 'Glad I received this info now. It would have ended terribly.'

Remembering how much time he spent in his last life making amends, he realized he was foolish to do so. They would never trust him or view him the same way again. They even used him a bit for his money. When he reached out when pushed as a Villain in this game, his cousins told several people his locations in-game. This led to multiple quest failures and his reputation dropping dangerously fast.

This time, he would take care of that and break off completely from them. They knew nothing of the lawsuit so he was in the clear there. Even more, the reason why his game Id is different and he left the race up to random. Just in case he slips a little.

Last life the race he used and name were the same as the last game.

"You have no real bargaining power to offer me. If you try to ban me from the game, I will just find another one." Vladis said offhand. Not having any reason to play the game besides the advantage he had, there was no real reason to stay. Well, he did wish to help his friends in the future. 'I can just join chat rooms and give them a little help actually. No need for me to play the game directly. I am in the past somehow, so it definitely has me tied to this game. But what exactly is it? Not like a receive a quest explaining things to me.'

"Woah Woah! Calm down!" Green Fairy said. She floated in front of Vladis looking worried. "They have jumped the gun but I will not. You said no, so it is no. But as new friends, I hope you can help every now and then?"

"As friends, yes."

Vladis went back to reading. Calming his mind by trying to learn as much info as he could.

The Fairies left at different points in time. All but the first one anyway. Noin was looking Vladis over carefully. She was judging his rage over the past events and thinking of ways to get him invested in the "game" more.

'It seems I will have to do that method. I cannot risk him leaving the game. Even if he helps another way, it would not work well.' Noin searched the library for a book to help pique his interest more. She found one that she hoped would sate his curiosity to help. 'This book is on the Legend of the Crypt. His friend that disappeared on him in the past was a Necromancer. Surely this will help. They log in a few more years from now. So that makes things a little problematic.'

"He declined. I cannot believe it!" The User for Red Fairy said angrily. But she had a smile on her face. "At least we were able to write it off. The "developers" have looked into another User after the submission."

"But he would have been a good one. I mean, he didn't even bat an eye to the benefits." Purple Fairy User said.

"Well, at least we are still on friendly terms at least." Green Fairy User said sitting down. "Once the traffic for the game slows down with complaints and Help tickets, I plan on joining him for some time."

"Really?" Purple fairy asked.

"Yeah. I mean he allowed us to use him as a home base for the fairies we use. Counting in all the books he will read, I think he will go a lot of places. We can still do our jobs with no issue." Red fairy smiled broadly.

"I should not have peaked into his info. I can not believe I slipped up like that!" Blue Fairy said admonishing herself. "I forgot just that quick about the guild incident. He is very sensitive about personal info. To excited to pay attention. Ughh, rookie mistake!"

"Yeah, he is. For good reason. But since he is not going to make things up with his friends and family, that is less we have to worry about." The green fairy said.

"Meaning?"

"If they found out, they might have tried to get him to have us give secrets." Black Fairy was quite calm as she spoke. "Getting back on to his good grace's will help for the future. When the game gets harder he may seek us out on his own."

"Yeah..." Red Fairy hummed a little. The others looked at her in interest. "That drink I gave him contains blood. I did not know he was a Vampire at the time really. He sipped it like it was normal. His synchro rate is high."

"But he didn't attack us." Blue fairy said a little worried.

"It is because he kept his calm a little. I mean he bore his fangs at us but didn't move. The control is pretty damn good. Glad he was only level one." Red Fairy leaned back in her rolling chair. "If he would of attack that would have been bad."

"Hey.. the first fairy that met him is an Nuc. How are things going to go for her?"

"I put in the command for her to travel with him. That way we always will have some info on what he is up to. I will find a way to get something for him for that." Purple Fairy said. "But the coding for that fairy already shows it has started to bond to him. The help he displayed in the guild to the others piqued its interest. Then him not lashing in an attack at us, pushed it further. Her personal reputation towards him is at trusted."

"As long as we do not break any more laws or policies, I think it will be fine." Green Fairy said. She gave a glare towards Blue fairy. The others raised their eyebrows at her. "Just a hunch. He looks to be really into his role already. It is only day one remember. Well, actually day two."

"That is enough of work. No overtime anymore. Go home and rest. I will see everyone tomorrow." Purple Fairy walked off. The others following suit, except for Blue fairy.

She looked over the incident with Vladis in more detail. All the footage from when he logged on.

"Haaa, nothing out of the ordinary. He logged in and looked around the place for a while. Shows his pleasure centers spike when he entered the building. Excitement looking at the races and relooking at them." Then she spotted it. "Wait.. he looked really fondly at a beast folk. Not lust or anything else, besides pure bliss."

The beastfolk was that of a German Shepard mix. Already in trouble, she pulled up the mental memory associated with it. Curiosity getting the better of her.

On the screen showed a young boy and his dog. They played and had fun with a few other kids. The image shifted. To a young man standing over a grave. The marker up top with the name Brutus.

"Shit, that is what I get from being nosey." Blue fairy realized the dog had died and left the memory to leave.

Turning off the lights in the office, she missed the computer kept running in the background. It was the Help Advisor that glitched with Vladis. She took in all the personal data then erased her digital tracks. This covered for the Blue fairy and allowed the helper to gain all the relative information.

-Vladis in the library-

.

"Ah, that is a lot of reading. Definitely worth it." Vladis gave a stretch and got up to return all the books he finished. Only 13% done it was time to spend his stats to help in this category. "Cannot neglect mental since it is in my class benefit. The physical can definitely come later at the training hall. Open Status Screen. Hmmm, those five from the error need to be used as well. Forgot about those but wouldn't have changed much with the way things panned out."

"Umm, can I see?" Noin asked floating in front. Vladis shook his head and allowed it. A slight buzz in his head gave the fairy access. "Your skill points continue to hold off. Training will take care of it right now to elevate it."

"Hmmm, thought the same. The main stats are fair enough for me to fight in the area. With the secondary ones having risen, that will do." Vladis could talk about the stats after they had unlocked. Having read the corresponding book with them in the library he was quite happy to get that out the way."

"Vladis read this book next." Noin floated a red book over. "It is tied deeper into your subrace. It also has something special in it." The little fairy walked on the table and grabbed a cookie. "These are good."

"Yes, they are." Vladis grabbed a cookie-eating it all in one bite. "Better with juice. I definitely wished we had some more. But I am a little sleepy. I will finish this and catch some zzz's." Noin gave him a nod and flew into his hair. using his hair as a blanket, she started to doze off. Little traces of mana seeping into Vladis. 'Refreshing. But this book is better than the basic cultivation I was gonna start." Vladis turned and thanked the fairy before he started to read.

The book title was called, All are fighters, all are defenders, the body is the ultimate healer. Reading it was going to take a few hours. Vladis would push through it till the medical alert goes off. First day Users could only play so long. It was all to help calibrate the game time mostly.

Logging off, the character would be controlled by a bot. So if you were attacked, you would attack back. If you were on a caravan or boat, you would ride it out and auto disembark when time permits. Unless your character was tired. Then it to would find a place to sleep. No matter where.
