Reincarnating after the apocalypse

The apocalypse ended and mankind came out on top! Sadly, most of mankind would rather face the zombies again. Why? Because it wasn't the end! Rifts appeared in all major human cities. All of them with a countdown of seven days. Each day adding more unease and fear into humanity all the way until the last second where... nothing? I got reincarnated back two months before the apocalypse right as the countdown hit zero so I wouldn't know anyway. This is my first story so expect a couple of grammar mistakes here and there along with general issues that come along with inexperience. This is an zombie-apocalypse novel with a sprinkle of greek mythology. I do hope to produce the best novel I can so if you have some spare constructive feedback then please share it with me.

Indifference

Jon still looked a bit unsatisfied though.

"How about we pray for these people atleast?"

"First of all, I'm an atheist. I have meet these supposed gods before but to me they just seem like extremely powerful organisms rather than gods. Second of all I dislike these gods and so should you, I mean it was Gaia who sent us to that monster to be killed! And finally, I am completely unrelated to these people and feeling sorry for them now when I did nothing to help them would make me a major hypocrite. You are allowed to mourn for them until tomorrow but I won't be joining you."

Maybe the things I'd been through made me indifferent towards death but I could barely feel any pity or sympathy for the people infected. Sure they were innocent and did nothing to deserve this fate but at the end of the day I am not the one who created the disease nor am I the one who infected them. Their deaths are completely unrelated to me.

Jon's gaze toward me was complicated.

"... ok, I'll be seeing you tomorrow morning."

He solemnly walked towards his room and entered it slowly after throwing a few glances my way.

It's worth mentioning that ever since he purchased -Stone man- he had become, for the lack of a better word, a stone man. His skin was mostly stone with only a few places on his joints that weren't covered in thick stone plates. Instead they were covered in thick skin. This has resulted in him being less mobile. Oh yhea! He also needs to eat different types of rock in addition to his normal diet. Since his teeth are only somewhat stronger than his skin he can't really chew the rocks so at the moment his favourite rocks are sand, which I presume are somewhat similar to smoothies for him.

Since my system woke up my ability evolved into -Beast trainer-. The skills are pretty much the same apart from a single new skill called -Alpha-. It basically let's me become viewed as the pack leader by default. I'm really starting to warm up to this gift. If only I had something I was able to test it on.

Meh, no use in dwelling on it I guess.

Seeing as the infected will start turning near twelve hours after infection it seems like a fair guess that the police will be annihilated or atleast near annihilated soon after, which will be our golden oppurtunity to strike.

Sorry for the blueballing if you thought this was going to be an action filled chapter. Mark has already become indifferent to death but not Jon and it would be really unrealistic for him to shrug off half of the global population dying so i felt like i needed to show that. Anyway, have a good day :)
