2 Experiments & Talks

After waking up, I started by going through my new life's memories. Immediate family: died in a plane crash. Only family left: Uncle Charlie and Cousin Bells. Family business: sold to the US military after their deaths. Graduated high school as valedictorian. College: not going. Career choice: inventer/entrepreneur. Plan for immediate future: build my R&D company.

'It seems I have already purchased the commercial property across the road from my property, nice.' I thought to myself.

After waking up for the day, I decided I would personally walk the new property to get the lay of the land so I can start to plan everything out. After a week, everything was marked, and I had several contractors come out for bids. Before the year was over, I had my warehouses with basements built and ready for me to start experimenting and producing my new products.

First, a power source. Easy enough. Start by making a new alternator that it ran off of magnets. Using my powers, I managed this within three months.

Second, thrusters. Now this would be a challenge since I couldn't make ironman thrusters scientifically in this world. Turbine thrusters it is. It took me six months to make them work perfectly AND efficiently.

Third, the frame for the new transport vehicle. This will be the first of its kind and will be the base blueprint for my future aircraft.

Three months into building everything, someone drove onto my property.

Stepping outside, I realized it was Charlie.

"Uncle Charlie. What are you doing here?" I asked as I gave him a hug.

"Checking on you. I haven't seen or heard from you in a year. A lot of people on town have been asking about you. I've been worried too. What are you up to?" Charlie asked.

"Hehe. If you can keep your mouth shut, come in." I said as I walked back into the building.

Following behind, Charlie stared long and hard at the aircraft I was building.

"What is it?" Charlie asked.

"See that computer over there? Click personal aircraft and watch the clip." I said without looking back.

After doing as I said, Charlie returned to me. "Was that real?" he asked, looking at the aircraft with a new appreciation.

"Yep. This is just the prototype, but besides the luxury items you saw in the presentation, it's identical." I said.

"When will it be usable?...and can I get one for the department?" Charlie asked seriously.

"Haha. I'll donate one if I get them approved by the government. But you'll have to paint and set it up for the department yourself." I answered honestly.

"DEAL! Do you need any help to get done faster?" Charlie asked excitedly.

"No. As a personal aircraft, I refuse to take any shortcuts. Reduces the chances of making any mistakes." I said honestly.

"So why am I keeping my mouth shut about this? It would get plenty of positive feedback." Charlie asked.

"Well. I don't mind that you talk about the craft, but the location is my issue. I work here alone and don't want people just showing up to get an update on my progress." I said honestly.

"Makes sense. Why don't you hire some security? I know some of your fellow graduates are having problems finding jobs here at home. They need to drive all the way to Port Angeles just to find work." Charlie said.

"Hmm. That's not a terrible idea. But they would need to be trained in firearm safety. If you can give them the classes, I'll hire them and pay for the class." I said after some thought.

"Alright. When can they start?" he asked me.

"What's today?" I asked, truly not knowing.

"Thursday. You're coming to dinner with me at the diner. If you're forgetting the day of the week, you need to get out more." Charlie said in a way that I knew no wasn't an option.

"Alright. They can start whenever. They really won't be needed until what I'm building here becomes public knowledge so don't tell them WHAT they're security of." I said.

"Alright. What's in the other warehouses? More aircraft?" Charlie asked.

"No. This warehouse is the aircraft warehouse. One of the others is for the personal submarine, another for the electric car. The middle warehouse is what powers this entire place, and the last one is for personal spacecraft. I haven't done anything outside of blueprints for anything but the aircraft." I said while marking off my fingers.

"If I ever lose my job, could I work here?" Charlie asked with a glint in his eyes. I guess boys will be boys, no matter their age.

"So long as you don't just quit your job, sure. I'll be honest, having an Uncle on the force is probably the best help i can get right now." I said.

"Okay, that makes sense. Do you want me to invite everyone that couldn't get a job to dinner so you can interview them?" Charlie asked.

"Nah. If they pass your training, I'll hire them. Hopefully there are at least six so I can have three shifts of two...then I just need to worry about the weekends." I said after some thought.

"Oh, there are a lot more than six. Last count I did, there are TWENTY six people from your graduating class that can not find work." Charlie informed me.

..."Well at least the shifts will be full. Might even be able to get some of them to sign NDA's and get some help in the warehouses." I said after the number sunk into my head. "Three per shift, plus part timers on the weekend. If the weekenders work twelve hour shifts so they can actually make a paycheck, that's fifteen. Still eleven that can do office work or grounds upkeep and maintenance. I can make that number work." I said aloud.

"Good. Let's go eat some steak!" Charlie said enthusiastically.

Before the end of the second year, the personal aircraft was finished and being tested while the electric car prototype was being made.

Before the end of the third year, both the personal aircraft and electric car were approved by the government and being mass produced across the country. Thankfully, I had billions of dollars to set all this up myself.

I had single handedly become the number one employer in Forks. And the government was even interested in my spacecraft. Things were looking up until the power company tried to pull a fast one on me.

Unfortunately for them, I had the full might of the US government AND military to back me up. This would was not going to go through the same BS as my old one. I make a company wide announcement after the power company was put in its place.

"Since we're done the the personal aircraft, that warehouse will now be used for making a single home power supply. We will use the same tech we used the everything else, but it will power a house." I said as everyone grew excited. They had almost lost their jobs because someone was not happy they were not getting paid fir us to use their source of power. Now I'm going to give everyone a cheap way to cut them off. $50 a month and you have unlimited power already in your house. SUCK IT big power and oil!
