Rewards and Aftermath

*This chapter has been wre-written to add more dialogue regarding Tora's past conflict with Malenia.

*1 month later

'Ashen one, hearest thou my voice, still?' The goddess's voice mimicking a certain blind firekeeper stirred Tora's consciousness.

Tora opened his eyes and found himself in a Konoha hospital bed.

'Yeah Yeah Goddess, nice one... Everything hurts like hell.' Tora recognized the reference and then said.

'Hmph, you could have reacted more, I worked hard and waited a long time to do that bit you know.... That is why... you are maidenless' The goddess voice switched to a certain white masked character.

'Damn, you didn't have to go that far. So what happened?' Tora was amused by the burn and then proceeded to ask about his situation.

He looked around and noticed his surroundings. It looks like he was in a private hospital room, he saw his father sleeping on a watcher's bed nearby.

'Hmm... a lot actually. But in your case, your injuries seem to have been pretty bad. You've been in a coma for a month.'

'Well... F*ck.' Tora looked down at his body, expecting it to have atrophied due to prolonged inactivity. To his surprise however, he maintained the same amount of body bulk. In fact it felt like his muscles had become denser and tougher, it felt like the fibers had turned from flesh to steel.

'Huh, what happened to my body goddess? I feel like I dumped all my runes into Vigor.' Tora asked

'Actually, that's surprisingly accurate. Why don't you check your status. You'll understand more if you see them.'

'Huh, alright.'

'Ah, I see. So I apparently awakened more parts of Radahn's bloodline, that's why I feel tankier.' Tora concluded after reading his status.

'Yup, that was a welcome surprise. I was actually expecting you to awaken it much later.' The godess replied.

'Oh, I didn't know I could that before. This is definitely good news.' Tora thought to himself.

'Sooo... When are you going to open gacha?' The goddess suddenly said in a excited manner.

'Huh, yeah. That does sound cool. How does it work?' Tora asked.

'What? Gachas?' The goddess sounded confused.

'What? No not gacha, how do blood line mutations work?' Tora cleared the goddess's confusion.

'Ohh, I was totally going to call you out for playing innocent. I've seen your memories dumping money on GI.'

'Urgh, don't remind me. Though, Raiden and Shenhe was worth it. I even dumped a lot into HI before I got sucked into Elden Ring.' Tora said with some regret.

'Anyway, basically, it's not really fun if you only end up cosplaying as Radahn in the future. I want you to have your own unique bloodline and not just following in his foot steps. That's why there's the bloodline mutation, it gives you abilities from elsewhere. However, since they're not part of your original bloodline, they'll start out weaker and will need to be trained harder.' The goddess explained.

'Okay, that makes sense. Sounds like fun, let's pull.' Tora finally said.

'Lets go!!' The goddess spoke with joy.

Tora's vision darkened as he was suddenly standing in the night sky among the stars. He looked around and saw a red comet coming towards him. As it arrived, it exploded and changed the scenery.

He appeared in a darkly lit cavern filled with earthy vines. In the center, he saw a fallen woman that he recognized.

'It's her, I can't believe I'd ever see her again.' Tora said as he walked up to woman dressed in knightly armor with a prosthetic metal arm.

"Ser Malenia, the scarlet goddess."

'Well, it looks like I have an idea what I pulled. Not going to lie, I hate how broken your were, being able to heal through blocks for no apparent reason, spamming waterfallow, and a scarlet rot infused dive bomb are just a few of the reasons that I started losing my sanity.' Now that he was in front of her, Tora listed all the complaints he had with with Malenia's design in the game. Afterwards, he took a deep breath before continuing.

'But it's not your fault the developers made you and blackblade hard AF. In reality, you and all your siblings probably worked hard to gain your strength, yes even godrick in his own way... As much I hated having to fight you in a game, this real life now and I won't disrespect your effort and strength, I'd be a petty idiot to decline your help.' As Tora thought this, there was movement within Malenia's corpse.

Tora immediately got into a defensive position ready to attack whatever came out of Malenia's body. However, what greeted him was a small scarlet butterfly that flew softly into the air in front of him.

'A progeny of my brother? It seems fate can still surprise me. I never knew that battle junkie to have the time to sire cubs.' The voice of Malenia echoed thoughtfully into his mind.

'Ser Malenia? Is that you?' Tora tried his best to be respectful. Despite this being a part of the gacha, he was not sure what Malenia would do to him since she noticed that he had the blood of Radahn.

'Do not fear child, I mean you no harm. I am simply an echo of the past.' The butterfly spoke into his mind.

'I see... thank you Ser Malenia.'

'Do not worry, it seems fate has willed it that you shall inherit part of my legacy. Be warned, it is something that at many points in my life, I wish I had never received. For your own sake, be wary when using it. It is my greatest regret and shame that I had released it into the world after fighting your ancestor who was fighting while protecting us from the stars.'

With that statement, Tora had a feeling where this was going and made an educated guess.

'Yes Ser Malenia, I will do my best to control the Scarlet Rot.'

'Again, do not be so stiff child. I am in some ways your ancestor as well after all.'

'Yes Auntie, I will do my best.' Tora felt that Malenia had smiled after hearing this.

'Go in peace and endeavor to not make my same mistakes.' She said in softer tone.

The scarlet butterfly then slowly fluttered towards Tora as he raised his palm for it to land on it. Once it landed, it emitted scarlet light before disappearing into his hand.

As quickly as it had started, Tora's consciousness was then suddenly returned to his hospital bed. He quickly looked up the kekkei genkai portion of his status.

Touched by the Scarlet Goddess (Mutation)

- You are able to grow, store, and release a special type of rot that is bonded to you and consumes lifeforce and chakra. The rot will continuously try to consume chakra and lifeforce to survive but will be unable to grow larger without your own unique personal Chakra. Destroying this rot in general is extremely difficult. You can dispel this rot on command however you will need to expend 4 times the chakra needed to grow it. (Scarlet Rot Release)

- You are able to summon scarlet butterflies or moths that can serve as carriers for the rot.

You are unable to use any of the nature transformations as well as genjutsu.

Overuse of Scarlet Rot Release may lead to harmful side effects and unintended consequences.

'Huh, so I did eventually get Scarlet Rot Release. I have to keep this quiet and learn to control it quickly, I do not want to have those side effects. Luckily this variation doesn't grow on its own once I do release it, so a new Caelid disaster is less likely unless I grow the Rot myself.' Tora decided to ensure that he was strong enough to be able to control the Scarlet Rot before he began growing it.

'Though these butterflies do seem sweet. Even without them being used as rot carriers, maybe I can use them as messengers or spies.' Tora thought.

'Oh, looks like it is complete. How do you like your new mutation Tora?' The goddess then asked in a curious tone.

'Well... I can't say I'm unhappy. This is a broken power to be honest, I can become a walking bioweapon. It's just something that needs a lot of control and training if I don't want to end up like a rotting corpse.' Tora surmised his opinion.

'That's good Tora... Now I think that we have to move on to the bad and complicated news.' The goddess said in a regretful tone.

'What? What happened?' Tora recognized the seriousness of the goddess's voice.

'...It would be better if your father and the third hokage told you. Your father is waking up soon. I'm sorry Tora.' The goddess spoke before silence engulfed Tora's thoughts.

"Son? You are awake! I'm glad. How are you feeling?" Aka, who had just woken up, spoke to his son.

"I'm alright dad, I even remember everything happened in the meeting hall. But... I have this feeling something is wrong. Did anything happen while I was asleep?" Tora went straight to the heart of the issue.

His father had a sad expression when he heard this.

"Son... Sensei is... grandfather is dead." His father finally croaked out in a pained voice.

Author's note

Hey everyone! I have some news regarding Tora's bloodline. It was pointed out to me by someone that unlocking abilities that belonged to Tora's original bloodline isn't really a mutation; it's actually more of an awakening. That's why I decided that any skill that is related to Radahn (Horsey Included) is something he can awaken eventually as he grows rather than having to gacha it. Mutations on the other hand will be reserved for unrelated skills or abilities that will need some more growing used to or training, since their not actually part of his original bloodline.
