Hunt [1]

[Dear passengers, we will be reaching our destination in 30 minutes]

The beautiful robotic voice woke Nico from his thoughts, which he dove into for about 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Nico looked at his watch before looking out the window, fully taking in the scenery of the city.

One could almost see the Forest City from afar as it was dazzling with bright light, as the skyscrapers illuminated the whole city at night.

Nico thought about his excursion into the forest before he figured he might as well use his 2 stat points.

Thinking about his stats for a bit, Nico decided to use both stats on perception.

Perception, in short term, is the ability to see, hear, or become aware of something through the senses.

Although strength, agility, and stamina are all important, he figured perception was a no-brainer as he would be seeing something completely different from his past life, something that was not meant for human eyes or ears, so he would lose track of it easily.

Even though his strength and agility weren't the best currently, he still had the memories of his past life, where he studied various methods of killing, hunting, and scouting.

Plus, a person with high awareness can not only detect danger from a long distance but can also sense enemies, having concealment skills.

Although it is a forest full of beasts, humans are also beasts... something he learned the hard way.

After 30 minutes, the train reached its destination.

[Dear passengers, please exit the train in order]

Nico exited the train before departing in search of an inn.

Unfortunately, it was night, so going into the forest with no experience in this life was suicide.

After a couple of minutes, Nico was laying on a bed inside an inn.

Nico stared at the roof before standing up and picking up a chair and walking before the window and sitting in front of it as he stared at the sky.

His white and pure black eyes were wide with wonder as he stared up at the night sky. The stars twinkled and shone like diamonds, and the two moons were a sight to behold. The small one was a deep, rich purple, while the bigger one was a brilliant white.

Nico felt a sense of peace and tranquility as he looked up at the night sky.

He felt as if he could reach out and touch the stars, and the two moons seemed to be within his grasp.

He felt as if he could forget all of his worries and just be in the moment. As he could appreciate the beauty of the new world surrounding him and be in awe of its grandeur.

He could feel his heart slowly beating as if not trying to disturb this moment.

...

...

...

Stepping out of the inn, Nico wore his sword behind his back, the hilt slightly stuck out behind his right shoulder, as a dagger was attached to his outer left thigh, with a backpack in front of his sword that contained his potions and health kite.

After securing everything, Nico began his long walk into the forest.

After walking for 4 hours, Nico was getting closer to Creek forest.

The closer he got to the forest, the more variation in topography he noticed.

There was a change in vegetation as the bushes and shrubs were replaced by small trees and big trees.

The loose sandy soil became firm, and Nico could see traces of a beast on the ground, but he still hasn't encountered a beast.

Reaching the entrance of the forest, Nico took out an odor-disguising spray, which would make it harder for beasts to track his location through smell.

He sprayed himself before putting it away.

As he stood on the outer surface of the forest, Nico could vaguely see the faint fog that was very thin.

Nico knew that the deeper he went into the forest, the thicker the fog would get, making it impossible to see within three feet of you.

Which was the main reason for the forest not being explored is because of the fog. Once someone was deep inside the forest, it was difficult for them to know the road to the outside, and many who wanted to seek opportunity end up dead with no one to find their corpse.

Unless they are higher ranked or had good tracking skills, they will be just knocking on the death door by stepping into the forest.

Hence why Nico decided to roam on the outskirts of the forest to get fighting experience in this life; another reason was that if he could kill a G-rank beast and get a G-rank core, he could earn at least a few thousand although it is very rare to get a core, considering he was now poor.

Even if Nico couldn't obtain a core, he could still sell the corpse of the beast and monster carcass as they are useful in various ways.

What's the difference between a monster and a beast? A monster is a high-level beast who has significant intelligence. An S-rank monster's intelligence can be more or less compared to humans, and they can even speak and understand human language, while monsters are mainly found in dungeons, while beasts are found in natural habitats.

- Snap~

After a few hours, Nico's ear twitched slightly as he heard the sound of a twig snapping in half.

He took out his sword and started observing his surroundings.

His eyes scanned the area for any sign of movement.

Silently walking towards the sound, Nico got closer and noticed a small, horned white rabbit standing in the middle of a clearing digging a hole.

He watched as the rabbit dug deeper and deeper into the ground, its white fur glistening in the golden hue of the sun, indicating it was almost night.

He silently took out his dagger from its sheath on his left outer thigh with his right hand as Nico stood there for a moment, dagger in hand, before suddenly throwing it crisply towards the rabbit.

The dagger flew through the air and landed with a thud, entering the head of the rabbit and killing it instantly.

Nico slowly walked over to the rabbit and knelt down beside it. He ran his hand over its soft fur, feeling the warmth of its body.

Nico knew he had to adapt to this world quickly and get stronger; otherwise, he didn't even know when he would die after all; he was just an extra who has no value in this world.

Nico was all alone with only himself to depend on himself, as just as there is a protagonist halo, where when the protagonist is in danger, someone or something interferes and saves him, and when the heroines are in danger, the protagonist emerges just in time to save her.

As an extra, there was nothing such as an extra halo, so Nico could only depend on himself to survive.

Coming out of his thoughts quickly, Nico noticed green blood oozing from its head.

- Ding!

Suddenly the system appeared in front of his face, informing him he gained 10 exp from killing the horned rabbit.

Nico took out the dagger from the rabbit's head as he took the corpse and headed outside the forest.

Finding a suitable place outside, Nico took out a ball and press the button at its top, and threw it on the floor, as the ball started swelling up before taking the shape of a tent.

Nico unloaded his bag as he kept his sword right next to him and his dagger back on his thigh as he sat down and checked the rabbit to see if it was a ranked beast or normal.

"Just a normal beast explains why it was easy. If I encountered a G-ranked beast, I would have had a harder time." Nico snickered.

Using the dagger, he skinned the rabbit before lighting a fire; he barbequed the meat sitting beside it, cleaning the blood on the dagger.

After cleaning the dagger, he waited before eating the rabbit that simply tasted like sweet beef.

After he finished eating, he took out his sword.

Nico stood on the outskirts of the forest, his sword drawn and ready.

He was illuminated by the campfire beside him, and the night sky above was filled with stars and two moons.

He was a silhouette against the night, his figure illuminated by the firelight. He began to practice his swordplay, his movements graceful and precise. He moved with a confidence that only comes with experience, and his sword seemed to be an extension of his body. He moved with a fluidity that was almost dazzling while the firelight glinted off the blade as he spun and lunged.

The stars and two moons watched him as he practiced, and the night was silent except for the sound of his sword slicing through the air. He was in his own world, and the only thing that mattered was the sword in his hand and the movements he was making.
